The world first got a look at the prototypical beatnik character Maynard G. Krebbs (and, for many of us, star of the show) in the first episode of Dobie Gillis. This frame comes from right at the end of the first scene where Maynard appeared, just as we segue from classroom to the town, which townscape just happens to have that word where Maynard is sitting in the previous scene.
