Links and stuff

One of my main resources, Ace of Spades, has had problems, is back up with a backup blog, and likely will be only the backup for a day or two more. Meanwhile, old links to Ace♠ will not be working, and new links, who knows what will happen?

Andrew Branca, Legal Insurrection, Apr 6, 2021

Human Events, Apr 6, 2021

“Every day, Texans are returning to normal life as people get the safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine,” he said in a statement Tuesday. “But as I’ve said all along, these vaccines are always voluntary and never forced. ‘Just Like The Communists’: Pastor Who Kicked Police Out Of Church Has Choice Words For Lockdown Tyrants
Jordan Lancaster, Daily Caller, Apr 6, 2021

…Once the officials left, he told the Caller they did not come back and didn’t give him any tickets or contact him at all. But Pawlowski said some police officers came up to him on the street “feeling ashamed for their colleagues,” and told him “this was bad, there was no need for something like this.”… “What happened on Saturday is just the tipping point of the harassment and intimidation I have been enduring for months…”

“The concern was that the people in attendance were not adhering to the government’s COVID-19 public health orders, which are in place to ensure everyone’s safety,” the Calgary Police said in its statement.… “The majority of Calgarians are understanding and cooperative.”

“I grew up in Poland under the boot of the Soviets, behind the Iron Curtain,” Pawlowski said. “What I see right now, I see everything escalating and moving to the new level. They’re acting just like the Communists were acting when I was growing up when the pastors and the priests were arrested, and some were murdered. Many were tortured.” …“That’s why I say what I say,” he continued. “Because I see a repetition of history.”

The Deepest Shipwreck Ever Discovered Tells The Story Of Our Navy’s Fearless Sacrifice And Incredible Courage
Christopher Bedford, The Federalist, Apr 6, 2021

…Evans led his men bravely, earning their respect and admiration he would prove more than fit for when, in the Battle of the Philippines, he and 185 of his sailors and officers went to their deaths in the dark Pacific deep, defending the American invasion force and carriers from a massive Japanese fleet that had them outmanned, outgunned, and out-armored.…

When Evans’s gunnery sergeant, the 25-year-old Robert Hagen, spotted what one scouting American pilot had called “the biggest battleship I ever saw,” he said a prayer and looked up to his captain above. “Please, sir,” he said, “let’s not go down before we fire our damn torpedoes.”…

As the crew headed into the sea and the Johnston went down, survivors remember the captain of the passing Japanese destroyer saluting the brave Americans.…
