With great fanfare the French government unveiled the country’s first de-radicalization center, where it is hoped that young Muslims may be deterred from becoming Islamists. In possibly unrelated news, the French government also promised more financial aid to the country’s tourism industry, which has declined severely in the wake of a series of jihad attacks.

… On this day in 1994 the Major League Baseball season was canceled because of a strike. I had already pretty much given up on baseball except when Atlanta was in the playoffs. But this was it for me. I have never watched another baseball game after this and that includes the World Series.
