Hungry for my Baby Blues
How about a cuppa, sugar, for a starving artist?
This one bounces along except for that one contemplative half-verse.
1. G7 I looked into the 'frigerator G7 What did I see? C7 There was nothin' in the 'fridge. G7 No eats for me. G7 I checked into the freezer G7 And I felt a little lost C7 There was nothin' in the freezer G7 Fo' po' me to defrost. D7 I opened up the cupboard Dm7 C7 And it gave me a scare. G7 Just like ol' Mother Hubbard my poor pantry was bare.
2. G7 Hiked down to the garden G7 Peered through the weeds C7 There was nothin' growin' up G7 Where I had planted my seeds. D7 Opened up the liquor chest, Dm7 C7 Well what would you think? G7 There was only empty bottles. I couldn't even pour a drink.
3. [slower] G7 That's when I sat down on the carpet C6 Just to think of where I' been. Gm7 I had only just sat down G7 When the roof caved in [resume speed] D7 And I know you must have your good reasons my friend, Dm7 C7 And there's no one to blame, Gm Bb G7 But since you left me sugar cookie, things just ain't been the same.
