My comment for the night. Long, but pithy:

Blond on Blond is 50 years old.

WD: ...Women can do anything men can do... it's the rare Troglodyte who thinks they can't.

Rare troglodytes:

Christopher Taylor #17: Bullcrap... Women CANNOT do anything men can do. CAN NOT....

WOPR #20: ...They can't. Just as men can't do anything women can do....

I'm sure this was all beaten to death in comments past #20, but I'll chime in anyway with my 2¢.

Yeah, I kinda concur with these trogs, as a general rule, but it does remind me of two things:

2. Ginger did everything Fred did, backward and in high heels. Not absolutely true (see for example Fred's firecracker routine or drum solo dance) but still kinda funny.

1. My computer guru, from back in the early '80s / TRS-80 days, was fond of saying, any computer can do anything any other computer can do... it just takes longer. Again, not absolutely true, but...

...in that vein, given the right equalizers, women really can do just about anything men can do.

Reproductive functions aside.

My shoulder was hurting lately but getting better.

Then, a little while ago, I slipped on a wet floor and, going down hard, wrenched it and skinned my knee.

Milady brought me some healing ointment for the knee, but it must've been old because the plastic bottle just cracked open and spewed contents all over the desk.

So... I can take a hint... I'm going to bed.

Self flagellation is okay.
...Unless it makes others uncomfortable.

Just Kidding!

Your contributions, (while benign and often sweeter than I'd like to acknowledge), are quite appreciated by those who lurk and those who don't.

My flashy idiocy is simply due to learned friends and family that took "flesh from my hide" when I was a stupid kid.

I took it onstage and became cocky, yet humbled. ...often.

--I am a simpleton that has come to Jesus because my jail time was getting longer and longer. I could only act superior and punch people for so long until my luck and teeth ran out.

I am naturally cocky, without cause. People like you are bringers of faith, hope, light, hope and pardon. ...where my weakness lies.

I often hope that my quick and sincere apologies for daft and reactionary soliloquies can make amends their reactionary nature. --My nature.

I try to say what I mean and mean what I say, but like some "comedians", (which I am not, professionally), I stretch things into a silly-taffy of untruth. --Lies.

I stay away from threads where my words cannot express the hope for someone's experience, much like Publius in the earlier thread.

I had no words, but I prayed. I had no common experience but perhaps I should have said something. ...Anything that might assuage someone from despair through Our Lord Jesus Christ.

As God is my Witness, I avoid threads when I am not feeling The Spirit.

I simply cannot type what I am not feeling at the moment, as it comes to God. I am preoccupied with life's minutia and I cannot bring myself to inspire anyone else.

It is at these times that I need inspiration the most. I am most guilty of being selfish when I cannot bring myself to type a few words of inspiration for the buoying of another soul.

I have asked Our Lord to find the salvation and grace, through friends and Family, for Publius.

I was on my knees thanking Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for such grace and love.

--But I was pissed-off at a lawnmower.

I read his posts and I just couldn't respond. For those of you who think I'm some sort of clergy... *HAH!*

I'm just another guy with a keyboard.

I don't strive to find God's will often enough. I used to pray nightly, but I've fallen out of favor with Our Lord.

Pray for me, because I am losing Faith slowly.

Wow, when this place slows down, it slows down a lot.

Is it just that I tune in between shifts, or is it that the gang sees me come in, and hides in the closet 'til I leave... just like in real life?

I check out kbdabear's posts now and then. Not for any prurient interest of my own, naturally, being all aged and contentedly married as I am, but just to make sure his standards are maintained, for the blog's sake. (I only check his links for the articles. That's it.)

Lately, I got to wondering, where are these visions of buxom pulchritudinousness to be found?

Asking for my unmarried sons...

Bonus nachos, ameegos. Hasty cabanas.

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise. Sing unto the Lord with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm. With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the Lord, the King.

Slapweasel: That's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

I've never known that to happen.

I wandered off to check my newsfeeds. GOT to quit doing that at bedtime.

Much more entertaining: cat chasing a June bug.

Street Willy J. #378: Well things have slowed down here so goodnight all.

Gee, and I was thinking that was a good reason to ease back in. But slowly, like getting into a too-hot bath.

Not that I have anything worth contributing.

Obviously.

Don't hardly never buy sody pop, but recently got a hankering for some Vernor's. Probably because some Moron mentioned it.* So, had Milady pick up a six-pack the other day.

It's all right - always liked ginger ale. They should make a variety with actual sugar, though.

*Weeks ago, some Moron mentioned a chili cheese dog from Sonic, and, ever since, I've been fighting the urge to make a Sonic run for the first time in decades.

Almost have Milady the culinary genius talked into trying to make some home-made hot dog buns, and chili. (Wouldn't expect her to be making the hot dogs, though.) With tater tots.

Oh, yeah. About that wedding we went to today... and getting dusty-eyed at kids' movies...

The groom is an old friend of our daughter's, practically family. Weird cross between an Oklahoma cowboy kid and a mall rat. When we first met him, he had a foot-high green mohawk. (We were running a cybercafe and the local Avon ladies were regular customers. Most hilarious when they consulted him about how he got that mohawk to stand up like that. Glue.)

He had to go all the way to Thailand to find the love of his life. Lovely gal, and (we found out today) a Disney fan.

I may get misty at funerals, but not at a happy occasion like a wedding. But the music just before the bride entered was "Something There" from Beauty and the Beast. Always thought that was a great song. That had me choked up a little before the ceremony even started.

And with that, I'm done with this weekend. Leaving the cleanup to you really late-nighters.

Observations from the day:

❶ Wedding today had a higher proportion of ink and metal (tats and piercings) than I've ever seen at a wedding. Nice ceremony, though.

❷ Dog is recovering, slowly, from whatever rattled him yesterday. Came in out of the rain and shook next to me, so, normal behavior in that regard.

❸ Apparently, it's raining.

And from tonight's ONT...

➃ If pain lets you know you're alive, by golly, lately, I'm SO ALIVE! But, I disagree with someone upthread: thing I don't like about pain is, it hurts. Just keep on keepin' on - what else is there to do? Just like muh good doggie!

➄ Pachelbel's Canon in a minor key was interesting.

➅ Mental aberrations - I'd almost always suspect the drugs first. Prayers for publius's family and all those facing the mind's conflicts.

➆ And, yes, the first part of Up is one of the most impressive self-contained bits of cinema.

That may be about all I have to say for tonight. I'll let you know for sure after I brush the tooth.

The ironicalish thing 'bout the book thread is, as interesting as it can be, it makes me want to turn off the computer and go sit down with my latest dead trees read.

And it's not even that great a read!

What's that smell? Ah! The book thread.

New from the SciShow folks, watched last night:

Looking up the URL, I noticed there's several other, older YouTube videos on the topic. Also why wet dogs smell bad.

Good morning.

cthulhu #281: Howdy, y'all!!!
....or any of y'all as are left....

Howdy, again, and back atcha cthulhu. I'm not so much left as back in briefly.

Too-late-for-the-pet-thread entry:

Our good old doggy - emphasis increasingly on the "old" - seems to have developed some problem today. Wobbly on his pins, some other symptoms.

Heart attack? Snake bite? No telling. Right now he's out there barking at the night as usual, so that's a good sign.

Naturally, he has to do this on Saturday evening - vet won't be available until Monday. Nearest emergency vet is too far away.

This kind of thing usually goes one of two ways, either they get better shortly... or they don't. We'll see how he is tomorrow, but it's concerning.

Had to share that.

Evening, folks stuck and not stuck in heavy machinery!

Saw some chatter about Tesla up there?

It's a nice enough town. Used to be better when I went to high school there, 'way back in the last centure, when Tesla hadn't grown so big.

Now I'd only go there to visit my mother.

Whut? Don't be shocked. I saw a vehicle for some eclectic humor.
