Jane D'oh, from the descriptions, sounds like Son is not suffering from flashbacks, perzackly - more like flash-presents. Still in a war zone. Trust the Almighty he'll keep his head down, and stay safe next month.

'Round my rural neighborhood, when I hear gunfire, it's actually reassuring. Armed neighbors, doing target practice (if they're not shooting varmints).

Howdy, folks.

I notice that neither of those cat videos feature an actual, you know, cat?

Guess the top pic makes up for that, though.

This is the Pet Thread, part 2, right?

Happy to say Jim is my congresscritter, and about as true-blue an American as we've got in Congress. When he first ran, I had my doubts, as we've seen so many seeming patriots turn into RINOs, but he's stood the test.

Heard him with a Tulsa radio guy the other day, who made the point that, while Bridenstein is unlikely to lose, the contest will suck up the time and resources that could've been spent elsewhere. That's how the Other Side works.

Today's tail-of-five-cats (SWIDT? Never mind.)

Back when we already had 'way too many cats, there was a feral gal who hung around a while, then disappeared for a while, then showed up again, very pregnant. Don't remember what we called her other than Momcat.

She dropped a litter of five, nursed them just barely long enough, and then dropped dead.

The five kittens were two gray brindles and three whites.

The brindles were a hefty-size medium-hair boy, and the runt of the litter, a short-haired girl. Him, we named Sasquatch, a/k/a Bigfoot, because, big foots. Her, we named Zebra, also Spider, among other names. They were both around for a couple of years, then one day they just didn't come home, both on the same day. That still hurts, years and years later. I fantasized they had found some Granny lady neighbor who took them in and fed them well. Yeah. Probably not. Rural life is tough.

The three whites were identical all-white sisters, except, one had a small gray stripe on the left side of her head, another an identical stripe, but on the right side.

One of the gray-striped sisters - Beauty - met a really hard end early-on. Young Daughter was running through the living room and stepped on her. It was instantaneous, at least.

The all-white one also met a tragic end when not much older. The only pet I ever had to scrape off the road. It's a long drive to the gate, and the cats didn't wander that far, so it was curious. Near as I can figure, the phone co. - we found out - sent a truck to our place while we were away. I presume that Snowy got up on the truck unnoticed, and jumped off after the truck exited the gate, and either didn't survive the jump or got hit immediately. Lots of surmising there, but it's the best I could deduce.

The remaining white sister, Grace, lost her gray stripe after that. (No longer needed for us to tell them apart, is my superstition.) She lived for many years, a wonderful kitty - but finally succumbed to a bad tumor near her eye.

Pet ownership - joys and tragedies.

Dogs who like mud but are averse to clean water - I wonder if their "thinking" is, "don't swim in the stuff you drink"?

That was my thought when I ran into this story earlier in the week. It was portrayed as a beloved-hero-dog story, but, dang, something was wrong there.

Howdy, doods & doodettes.

If the thread has been bumped, can I pretend I was here much earlier? Rough night full of aches resolved into late morning full of stiff & sore. I blame allergies. Or extraterrestrials.

When I hit AoS this late in the day, I start with the Vic News (finally get an EMT and he has tech difficulties on the first post - we can never have everything!), and then, mostly, scan threads for "http" to see what else folks have linked to. I miss a lot of chatter, but find some ver' in'erestin' stuff.

Bedbugs letter - I knew there was some reason I was checking on the tail-end of tonight's comments.

If I'd received that handwritten addendum, it would've really... ticked me off.

Having had a steady stream of dark and intense video dramas lately, I needed a change of pace.

Came upon a movie called Saved by Grace - watched it with some trepidation, afraid it would get too treacly or preachy or contrived, as some spiritually-minded dramas can. It turned out okay. Watched it again the next day with Milady, thinking I could check the emotions better, but got dusty-eyed all over again.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4486728/

Also, about half-way through checking out Risen. Impressive. Think I'll back up to the start and watch it with Milady. ... Always hard to watch Him (well, anyone, but especially Him), crucified. Film got the gruesome crucifixion details right, mostly, though. One question - didn't the spear go in on the right (heart) side? Shown going in from the left. I'll have to check the Shroud....

Time to give up on this day, and try another one, God willing. Thank your angels - they have to put up with us!

In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.

Blano #239 How do you get your computer to quit asking you to schedule the download of Microsoft 10?

I like having the daily-or-so suggestion to upgrade.

Just so that I can tell it, "no." (Perverse, yes, but I need every small pleasure I can get.)

Is that right? I've read of ways to disable all the spyware-ish things, but this is a serious deal-breaker. If I were dealing.

So, since it was in the post, do we get to talk about how [] signed the book?

How about []'s national finance chairman, and []'s mom, in this Time for Prayer clip (audio)

Warts and all, I do really like []. It's hard to imagine that kind of prayer bit being done for any other candidate. Like, [] or [] or []. Y'know?

Don't Ever Kiss This Girl in The Mouth Here is Why...

Doubly whammied.

First, in a moment of stupidity, I decided to follow that link.

Since TinyURLs take sometimes as much as 45 seconds to load, I went to refill my coffee cup.

Second, I hear a voice - auto-running YouTube vid. I run to the desk and close the tab. Yeesh!

Fortunately, did not seem to awaken Milady.

Hey, BTW, folks, YouTube has their own short URLs (via Share button on any vid) - no need to use other, which masks that it's a YooToob link.
