My sympathies with your lack of a life.
Of course, not as much sympathies as for Ricardo Kill, Christopher Taylor, and Skip.

* furiously copying notes in case I should, for some strange reason, find myself in Las Vegas again *
Went to a nephew's wedding in LV six or seven years ago. Last time I flew, and possibly last time I will.
I don't gamble, but did give the kids some cash to play with. Enjoyed getting to see the crazy place, had good food, stayed in a nice place.
Drove around some and marveled at the continuous expansion of the city... and couldn't help but think about the preciousness of water there. Not for me, such a risky home.
Guy's lucky he didn't have to deal with my older brother, Wally's friend Eddie. He'd've held out for serious ransom.
* Clearing super-sock. *
I did not make the top 10's this week. It was a busy week. Funeral, birthday, ballet, and other distractions from Blog Life. I promise to not try harder in the coming week.
Bossy Conservative #68 ...Way back when, Daman Wayans created "HandyMan", a sort of handicapped superhero...
What's so odd about that?
Captain Whitebread #24: Marvel and Warner Bros:
If the trends reverse and you need a hero with a middle-age spread, call me.
DC, not Marvel, but if they do the Legion of Super-Heroes, there's always the role of Bouncing Boy....
They're seen, too often, on the floor,
Just inside the office door,
A truly terrifying type of pesk.
But I received a special fright
When I espied one, just tonight.
How did that scorpion get up on my desk?
Welcome home, Humans!
I know you're not very good hunters, so I brought you a still-warm little baby bunny! Here, I'll drop it under your kitchen table for you.
You're welcome! What? You don't want it? You're putting it and me outside? *siiigh* I don't get it. Pathetic humans.
But, okay, I'll eat it.
Attended a funeral yesterday. While waiting for the service to begin, I was reading Luke from the Bible available in front of me. New revised standard, or something. I'm a KJV fan, but it was interesting. Footnotes saying, "some translations say..." or "some sources add (or leave out)..." - heh - the "infallible" scriptures... roughly speaking.
The minister invoked one of my favorite passages, from John.
Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.
Amusingly simple and refreshingly reassuring if you trust ol' Jesus...
Good night, Gracies. Sleep well, if you sleep.
cthulhu, I saw that, last night after I checked out, you asked about how our boys turned out.
Thirty-one years later, they live, which is an important thing. Gainfully employed, also handy. They're fraternal twins, so they're different as can be, although all our kids share a sharp and ready wit - don't know where they got that.
One has been married, but recently divorced. Alas, none of the three offspring has found the right mate and given us a grandchild. (Well, one miscarriage, buried out by the AmerIndian graveyard.) Would like to live to see grandkids grow up, especially for Milady's sake. Not much else for me to live for but to spoil the grandkids.
But --- none of our kids are felons, and all not only can vote, but vote rightly. So they tell us.
Got home a while ago, and have been sitting here catching up on the comments. Really interesting discussion tonight.
That guy had a lot of good points. That other guy also had a lot of good counterpoints, though. That fellow wasn't so right, but had a few interesting ideas. The other guy was right-on. But that one guy, f' him in particular. And everybody was sort-of missing certain important distinctions.
I'd've joined in, if I'd had time. And wit. Fortunately, I don't. ![]()

Gonna haveta open 'nother beer on that note
Why aren't the Toronto Maple Leafs spelled Leaves?
It's LJRR Tolkien's fault. Insisted the plural of dwarf was dwarfs. Things just spiraled out of control from there.
Captain Whitebread, still here? Had a bit of scare when they were asking about you in the sidebar. Relieved to see the Moron Alert called off.
But... it's always good to see the heart of the horde, valuing each other so much.
Except for that one guy. F' him. ![]()
Good Morning Everyone.
Mindful, what a great story.
What a happy story!
281 I got two comments in a row? We're in the Slowdown Times, eh?
Milady is baking cookies. Chocolate chocolate-chip. MMmmm.
Speaking of two in a row...
*heart*
Thirty-one years ago this night - no, last night in the 24rd hour, - Milady was a bit busy.
We were rolling down Lake Shore Drive in a taxi, her sister in the front seat, me in the back with Milady, heading for the hospital. Imminent childbirth.
Cabbie radioed in that he was on his way with a woman about to give birth to twins. Hospital heard it as having twins in the taxi, so when we got there, a whole bunch of folks were lined up to help. (I seem to recall the taxi driver had just had a birth in the cab the day before.)
We got inside, I changed to greens, and caught up with Milady before the births. Unlike with our firstborn, I got to just hold her hand and let others do the work.
Ten minutes from the time we got to the hospital, we had a son. Ten minutes later, we had another son. The hospital personnel didn't have much to do, at that pace.
Most amusing, Milady's sister was a high-ranking nurse at that hospital, and she became Dictator of the birthing theater. Figured out later she was ordering doctors about. In the panic of the moment, all was forgiven, though.
It's been... an interesting three decades since then. We had lunch with daughter and one son tonight, more festivity this weekend when other son gets to town.
Childbirth is terrifying. Women are phenomenal.

What a wonderful....and stressful....memory! Thank you for sharing both the wonder and the worry. Prithee, give us a nightcap as to how the sons prosper today.

Watched a comedy that was really strange tonight.
Time Traveling Bong
I may be the author of Head Shop Comix,* but I don't much go for stoner comedy - Cheech & Chong pretty much covered it in their early years. And Child's Garden of Grass LP. But, this was... amusing and bizarre.
