Was reading an article today that started off talking about the Japan quakes. Then went into other recent Asia-area quakes. ... And the number of active volcanoes lately....

Went on about how this adds up to the increasing likelihood of a really horrendous 8.x quake coming up, and the horrendous damage such a major quake would do to a major urban population ... which is where I began to think was a weird thing, because, there's really no predicting quakes....

Then it started going into the Bible and end times. That's when I looked at the address bar and realized I was on InfoWars.

Oh.

Closed the tab.

First actual belly-laugh I've had all day. Filing away for future reference.

Hi, y'all. Jumping right in...

Recently had lunch at a nice restaurant in Tulsa. The men's room had an inner and outer door. Besides the trash can in the men's room, between the inner and outer door was a basket, where you could throw a paper towel, so you didn't have to touch either door handle on the way out. I found that extra-thoughty.

Ah, yes! The joys of pet ownership.

Charlie just came in the house with his latest trophy comma, a small bird.

Idle Saturday pondering:

I believe in turning things over to the Almighty, asking God to guide and direct me to doing God's will, and like that. Better Your Will than mine, oh Lord!

The more fouled up things get, the less I seem to be able to find answers or do right, the more I seek God's plan, depend on the Spirit for help, inSpiration, whatever-- something! Seeking the "still small voice" that whispers, "this is the Way."

The problem I have is the "answer" I seem to get.

There's a tale - pretty sure I got this from Baba Ram Dass (the Be Here Now guy):

A Great King has a flash of spiritual insight one day, and decides he's going to submit himself to God. To do so, the King leaves his mighty palace, in all his regalia and, with the usual royal entourage in tow, travels to the nearby mud hut, residence of the Guru, who lives humbly and has nothing but the blanket he wears.

The King enters the Guru's hut, kneels before the Guru, handing the Guru his scepter of power, and saying, "Oh, Guru, I am as nothing. I give all my kingdom to you." The Guru smiles, takes the scepter, and thanks the King, accepting his gift.

Then, the Guru hands the scepter back to the King, and says, "Now, you run it for me." ♥

The upshot is, of course, all kingdoms are already God's.

Always liked that story, but in terms of my own attempt to turn over my life to the Almighty, it's all well and good if you have a clue how to run your kingdom. Not so much if you really need guidance or assistance. God may be saying, you have all you need already, yet if things keep going awry, where is the confusion? I mean: whut? Maybe the answer is "not yet"?

*shrug* Meanwhile, what can one do but keep on keepin' on?

Polliwog the 'Ette: Do I even want to know about "Ace and the Big Oopsie"? ... trying to decide if details or blissful ignorance is best.

Kind-of a tossup. The details were horrific, but, then, written in Ace's inimitable style.

Howdy y'all. Kinda slow today (or am I just up early for a Saturday?), but an entertaining crowd.

Cool, overcast, chance of rain here in NE Okla. Can't complain. I will, but I shouldn't.

I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

...abject lesson...

Hollowpoint: I'm a bit drunk, and even sober am not a cunning linguist but I don't get how that constitutes a typo.

Heh, well, I'm not utterly sober myself, and now that you mention it, maybe it was intentional. I just presumed "object lesson" was intended. Either works.

Abject, indeed.

On the web, they can only hear you if you scream.

I didn't drop a single comment on AoS yesterday.

Didn't want that to happen again, so, here's a single comment.

I was going to settle in for a little bit, whilst I nursed my nightcap... but when I got home, I realized there's not a drop in the house. Bummed.

Saw some discussion of critter pests?

There were a couple of blackbirds building a nest up in... call it the rafters... of my front porch. Bits of dropped nesting material and splatters of bird poop under the area.

I considered various ways to discourage them, from chemical warfare (will this wasp spray drive them off?) to throwing some cat litter box cleanings up there, but these ideas had... potential drawbacks.

So, while moving some things in the house, a rubber snake gets knocked down, and I think, hey, the answer literally fell into my hands!

I hung the snake up where they were getting in.

This morning I noticed bits of nesting material dangling off the snake. I don't think they got the message.

That's my contribution for the night.

*pretends to take a last gulp*
