Hey, hola, cthulhu.

Watching an exchange last night, I thought, not only can you be a socially-helpful advisor, you can be admirably patient with some commenter's temperamental response.

And in longer-range observation, I'd say, by the time a commenter's temperament has degenerated to the point of flaming at you, they're pretty much tempting the banhammer, in general.

For whatever such observations are worth. (2¢ less sales tax)

Well, I've used up all my good material for the night. Didn't take long.

Choose snark:
a) So, just lesbians, then?
b) But, we're all meat! https://youtu.be/7tScAyNaRdQ
c) That was supposed to be "meet"?
d) (c) was lame.
e) Flying none of the above.

I never thought there'd be a thread where it would be on-topic to post this. Thanks, Ace!

Boy, the ONT sure is great tonight. Glad I opted for the platinum-plus membership so I could see it early.

When there were pay toilets, I learned that the one 'way down at the end was (sometimes?) free.

But you reeeeaaallly didn't want to use it.

Back in, just briefly. Inspiring chatter tonight.

[types... deletes] No, I'll keep that story for another day. Or the afterlife.

[types... deletes] Yeah, I don't want to bother with that one.

Hm.

Hoping that "you can't cure stupid" isn't an absolute, I pray for wisdom.

The first problem with wisdom is, it is gained from experiencing the consequences of unwise choices.

I should, therefore, be a very wise man. However, the second problem with wisdom is how often what is learned is inapplicable to subsequent experience.

In my experience.

That's my wisdom about wisdom for the evening.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

Howdy, evening types. Another meaty post, Master Mætenloch!

Invisible Magic of Movie Editing

During college years, I worked for nine months as go-fer at a TV station. When I wasn't delivering packages or sorting the mail, my immediate boss, was the station's film director. Great guy. Loved film, and was always careful about making them look good, even cut up for commercial broadcast.

When we both had a little time, he would spool through films and show my tricks of editing. I particularly remember a Hitchcock pic (don't remember which at the moment), where there was a slow dissolve.

As the first scene darkened, what was left to draw the eye was a lamp light, and as the next scene brightened, in that same spot, was the headlights of a car, so the eye didn't jump around from scene to scene, but was led smoothly through the action. Simple, effective. Hitch.

Thanks to that, sometimes for me observing the editing is more interesting than the movie, or maybe it's when, sometimes, it's not so "invisible."

Now I have to go watch the video.

Anyone notice the new potty thread?

I just want to say... some folks need to know the difference in the words sight, site, and cite! And, no, most of them can't blame autocucumber.

I always read the local obits (just to make sure I'm not in there). Found this yesterday:

Robert Perry Hellem, age 89, passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 after suffering a stroke.

He and Barbara Claire (Sanborn) were grade school sweethearts. They married New Years Eve 1948 after he returned from Japan during WWII. He was born and raised in the Chicago, IL area, moving to Derby, KS in 1997 and to Bartlesville, OK in 2013.

Bob worked for Kraft Foods as a Packaging Engineer for 38 years. His idea of wrapping American Cheese in single slices changed the way we make sandwiches....

Howdy, y'all. Another beautiful day here in NE Okla. Dog is lying in the sun. Birds are chirping. I read the Vic News and checked out MisHum's headlines and survived. Plus, coffee.

I dearly love Milady. Truly do.

When she decides to make almond butter at midnight, well, by golly, guess I can't complain... too much... about washing the complicated and dangerous pieces of the Cuisinart... Did not injure myself or break anything despite my state.

Sweeter dreams, y'all.

God loves you in particular.

Let's turn this into a circular fistbumping-squad.

It suddenly occurs to me that I've never fist-bumped anyone, ever, about anything.

Come to think of it, I can't even remember high-fiving anyone, either.

I'm so old. Or maybe just disagreeable.
