Soona: Starting to cloud up here in OKC....

You sure it's clouds and not smoke?

We had quite a smoggy-hazy sunset up here last night, from all the wildfire smoke. Fires to the east of us, fires to the west of us. We sure could use some good Spring rains. If only they weren't so frequently accompanied by twisters!

OregonMuse: "Orthodox" is not a label that's generally applied to the Roman Catholic church.

Yeah, well, it's Saturday, I hadn't had much coffee yet, I don't keep up on all the latest denominational terminology fads, and quit stomping on my terribly lame excuse!

I'm not sure how to interpret what's going on right now with the Trump campaign organization...

The term "meltdown" comes to mind.

Been expecting this for a while. Trump may get the folks he needs to help him save the trumpmentum, but this demonstrates the big difference between speechifyin' and politickin'. Like it or not, there's a system to be worked, and rousing the rabble doesn't quite do it.

From things he's said recently, Trump seems to me to be one of those who thinks he is a better speechwriter than his speechwriters, better at foreign policy than his foreign policy advisors, etc. Having watched one of those in the White House for going on eight years now, I don't think they make very good Chief Executives for the nation.

Just my hamburgled opinion. I suppose I'd still stick a clothespin on my nose and vote for him over the outright Communist candidates. God help us.

FenelonSpoke: I haven't really gotten into the social views of the Eastern Orthodox Church as of yet...

Eastern Orthodox Church?

I quoted back from someone else quoting your comment. That Little Voice in the Back of my Head was nagging me, "go check the original message again to see what denomination was being talked about." Alas, I ignored that Voice. My bad.

* checks original comment *

Well, now, you didn't say Eastern. Just "orthodox." Could've meant Papa Frankie's Roman emporium and liberation theology outlet, right?

FenelonSpoke: Can you guess what the answer was?!

Alas, I was thinking the answer could be that being an atheist is no problem, but you have to support a border-free world and believe in global warming and socialism.

It was cool this morning, in the 40s I think, when I got up. Couldn't walk outside barefoot as I have been doing lately.

Felt much better about it when I read the comments about people elsewhere getting sleet and snow.

And after I saw that temps should be going up to high 70s later today.

Returned from the morning thread, where I saw that the Civil War was being re-fought. Again. Always ejjimicational.

creeper: Oh, wait! You're saying Pixy really exists and is not just a fragment of our imagination. Like "he" is a real person and not the name of a software program?

Not only is Pixy a real person, "Pixy and the Hamsters" have been known to drop a comment from time to time.

The hamsters are not really hamsters, however.

They are rare, endangered pikas. Working for less than minimum wage.

Because "Pixy and the pikas" is pleasantly alliterative.

Insomniac: The only thing that does bother me is the thought that when I do die, my life will have meant fuck-all.

Don't know if you'd think it counts, but all the Morons* and 'ettes have meant a lot to me, and to each other, I'm sure.

*Except that one guy, but not you.

!

A few things to do... BBL if I can.

TAKAW: ...it is weird to think I will be dead in less than 10 years when I am only in my 40's?

I know whatcha mean. I'm in my seventh decade, and it's strange to think that in another seven decades I may have to think about moving on...

Alberta Oil Peon: I was expecting a bracketing to happen, then I realized Maet's not here.

Yeah, likewise.

"When the Maet's away, the mice will play."

I really wanted to put "primary political commenters" instead of mice, but it would've just ruined the rhythm, y'know?

[Whoops! Just posted this in the previous thread by mistake. Well.. pro'ly won't get banned for that.]

Let's see... Disney, Cuomo, PayPal, Springsteen... I think there's more I'm forgetting? ... and no boys in the girls' room.

Haven't seen a downside to this NC law yet. Be nice to have it passed here.

Howdy, overly sober evening folk!

My current drink is a Red Stripe. Still celebrating beer day.

I think this means I need a doobie, some reggae music, and dreadlocks.

I have none of these. Well, I do have some reggae in the MP3 catacombs... somewhere...

A Moron jury would surely rule it "justifiable assault."

An entitled young punk comes to regret burning the flag....

Just got back from eating and seeing my mother...

I would caution, phrasing! (or, at least, punctuation!) - but since it's your ailing mother, I wouldn't dare.

So, you're so disgusted with the GOPe and the Democommies, you're thinking about voting Libertarian, eh?

I voted Libertarian twice for President, both times in states where I knew to whom the state would unquestionably go, so it was a harmless "protest" vote. Back then, Libertarians were already kinda whacky, but not what they've become today. For example:

Will Coley is a Vice Presidential candidate, representing the Libertarian Party. He's running alongside Darryl W. Perry, the presidential candidate. He's not just a Vice Presidential candidate, he's this country's first openly Muslim Vice Presidential candidate.... director of Muslims for Liberty - a group that decries American exceptionalism, accuses the United States of war crimes, and espouses ostensibly anti-Israel ideology.... In Tennessee... expressed concern about proposed legislation to prohibit sharia... claimed that it was indicative of the hatred conservatives feel toward Muslims.... gave local talks promoting the idea that sharia doctrine is compatible with the U.S. Constitution and went so far as to falsely proclaim that Islamic legal theory influenced American law...

Oh, yes, let's have that man a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

Well, rolled through the comments.

Learned some things I'm glad to have learned.

Learned some things I hope I can forget.

Off to bed, then.

Would "light metal" music be, like, Aluminum?

"Heavy Metal" - that's the big-band sounding pseudo-rock music with brass instruments, like Chicago and Blood, Sweat, & Tears, right?

Goood evenin', y'all.
