Metal Moonlight Sonata...

Me: I think it's kind-of cheating that he has the pre-recorded background stuff.

Daughter: Yeah, and Beethoven was cheating that he didn't just use the piano.

Milady: Well, actually, it is generally just played on the piano.

Also, what was more distracting? Excessive tattoos, the thing on his lip, or having the long hair but no facial hair except 5 o'clock shadow?

Also, the breaks - it wasn't one continuous take, eh?

Unlike, say, OKGo's latest flight...

Hahaha, it wasn't really one take, but they sure worked hard to make it look like it was.

Just when you think you've seen it all...

along comes another ONT!

Did Ace really say "from whence"? Yes, he did. Redundantly repetitive.

Good eeeevening, y'all.

Bandersnatch: Yes but that still can't be cut-n-pasted because pixy is not pixy to pixy compatible.

'Struth. Has to be copy - paste to bit.ly/pixyize - copy result - paste to pixy.

And those without ampersands are SOL.

All because the encoding on comments pages is different from the encoding on the front page, for some inscrutable reason.

Accent marks and inverted question marks omitted, as they would become undefined characters on the comments page.

In comments, we can use them if we use the &-#-code-; format, ¡Jeb, niños! - but of course that requires either looking up and using the code, or (what I did here) running text through the unicode-to-pixy translator at bit.ly/pixyize. One more step, always fun.

I presume this works on the post on the comments page and they would still show up fine on the front page.

Nice to note the concern, in any case, over preventing the vulgar black diamond plague.

Got to the pet thread late, and I guess it's about past done now. Not as much dusty-eyes as the initial one, but lots of great stuff, happy and sad.

My little yellow fuzzy buddy Charlie cat had a scary open sore on his neck this week. Don't know what it was. The night I discovered it, I thought we'd be rushing him to the vet first thing in the morning, but it healed up so much overnight, we just cleaned it and waited. Seems to be all better now.

Next week, maybe I'll relate the joyous and tragic story of how Charlie came to live with us.

By the way, Bluebird of Bitterness frequently has some great collections of animal pix. Here's some "copy cats" from last week:

FenelonSpoke: Railing at God is an expression of faith too; It's throughout the Bible. Even Jesus said "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me? and I don't think it was just a reference to a passage in the Hebrew Scriptures.

Hm. Well, Jesus' death-throe recitation of the opening of Psalm 22, that most literal of prophetic scripture, has always suggested to me more the reassurance of faith and has kept me from the feeling of "railing at God."

"For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard."

Just my 2¢ worth. Various interpretations of "railing," I suppose.

Is it getting me in here or is it just warm?

I've said before that, Jeb! doesn't seem like a bad guy to me, he's just... wrong on all the important issues. This compilation video is overly Trumpy, but gives me a sadz for poor li'l Jebby...

Me: ...And to be further clear, do not then cook and consume the toilet-water-moistened rice.

Vic: I tried that with a Sony MP3 player I spilled beer on. It did not work.

You tried to cook and consume beer-moistened rice?

Bandersnatch: ...dropped an iPhone in a toilet once and rescued it by putting it in a ziploc bag with rice for a few days.

Anna Puma: Lets be specific there, not cooked sushi rice.

And to be further clear, do not then cook and consume the toilet-water-moistened rice.

Unless you are an airline? (See ONT).

Got this reply

mega machines: Wrong. The employer, who actually owned the phone, did the damage. The employer, by the way, was a government agency. No surprise there.

So, who'm I gonna believe? Jim Hoft or mega machines? Tough choice....

Reading as far as my own first comment, I see ABC story was linked, but details not actually mentioned...

The Justice Department filed a motion this [yesterday] morning asking a federal court to compel Apple to help the FBI hack into an iPhone owned by one of the San Bernardino shooter suspects.... Apple responded on Friday evening saying the FBI changed the password to Farook's phone and then forgot it.... Apple could have recovered information from the iPhone had the iCloud password not been reset....

Sure, could happen to anyone, right?

Hello.

A dim, muddy-yellow sun struggles to rise above and shine through the thick haze that blankets the morning landscape. Looks like fog, but when I walk out, I discover it's heavy with the smell of grassfire. Lots of grassfires this past week in the state. This one must be fresh, perhaps still going, and not very far away, I deem.

Unusual morning, then. Shirt-sleeve weather at the moment. Supposed to be pushing toward 80° today.

Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

Well, the nightcap's kicking in so I'm checking out.

Happy landings, fellow passengers on Ace Airlines. (Don't look under the seats. Just... don't.)

torquewrench: "Yeah. Sure. Got it. Let me check the Standard Male Instruction Manual right here. Oh! Wait! There isn't such a thing."

Yeah, I bought a copy, but it turned out to be bogus. All blank pages. Bogus!

However, there is the "Parent's Handbook," thank goodness, issued to every parent upon the firstborn's birth. Don't know how we would've got along without it.

Slapweasel: As far as the age of a woman goes? That's easy. Cut through her leg and count the rings.

Don't you have to cut through both legs?

Oh, wait... I guess you can just cut through one and double the count...

"From what Harry was saying, I gathered this much.."

I'm not picking up on the basics of this intriguing discussion, and I don't think I'm going to scroll back to find out or hang around long enough to figure it out. Intriguing, though.

*Big* bunch of coyotes set up a howl a few minutes ago, just over the wall, closer than I've ever heard them, and sounded like 'way 'way too many. Dog was barking up a storm. All the cats and the dog are inside, now, so, we're all good. Hope they didn't hassle any cattle, though. Will find out in the morning.

We no likeum coyotes. Especially up close.

Well... long ago, when I was a much bigger idjit than I am today....

My then-relatively-new 1970 Mustang "Mach I 351 4inafloor Herst shifter" got a road test on the toll road from Tulsa to OKC.

Speed limit was probably 65 or 70 back then.

They HiPo clocked me at a shade over 80 near the OKC end.

Fortunately, I had slowed 'way 'way down by then from well over 100.

Fastest I'd ever driven. Or ever have.

Ooop. Milady's returned. Heading back to the teevee.
