Milady is baking cookies.

As she handed me a sample warm from the oven, she warned me, these are not chocolate, they're molasses. And those aren't chocolate chips, they're currents.

(Knowing how I complain when cookies that look like chocolate chip turn out to be oatmeal-raisin.)

It's okay, as long as I was duly warned beforehand.

Mmmmmm.

Cloyd Freud: [Paying cash] also allows the server to choose not to report the income, which the best reason of all to tip only in cash...

...which would be totally illegal of course, so we're just speaking hypothetically and not recommending tax evasion in any way. Of course. Ahem.

(Fixed for Freud)

Mike Hammer: Not at my link.

Guess my comment was unclear? That's why I thanked you. Or, maybe you were just clarifying for others.

Anywho, after reading it, interesting as it was, it was hardly worth downloading some app to read! Thanks^2.

Oh, say, I neglected to mention there's a language warning on my new 20sec video Donald Trump is a Class Act. Not safe for little children, the genteel, or American Presidents. ("Says who?" -Richard Nixon)

Regarding modern Americans' knowledge of socialism...

Meanwhile the model socialist people's paradise of Venezuela has run into a tiny little minor glitch - they've run out of food.

I'm surprised Obama hasn't named a happiness czar

Can we get a Life Czar and a Liberty Czar along with that? It's in the Declaration of Czar Dependence after all.

Hah! Love that doggie at the top. I'll dive into the rest of it in a moment, but first...

Howdy, classy nighttime people!

I have not put forth many mindful webworks in the past year, but now and then, I crank one out. When inspired or motivated.

One nice thing about being undiscovered and never going viral is, I don't have to deal with comments from crazies, on my site, or (especially) on YouTube.

I hope it stays that way, but I'm tempting the fates now with a new 20-second video.

Donald Trump is a Class Act
The question is, which class?

Note there is a PayPal donation link in the upper corners of the webpage, whatever 20sec of vid is worth to ya.

Or, if you would rather go to YouTube for some reason

Well, self-promo's done. Now to see what CDR M and ye common taters have for me tonight.

Approppo... approp.. arroppo... relating to nothing in particular except mention of Clark Gable above...

Have been enjoying adding old flix into our video playlist of superhero TV shows, modern movies, and YooToobs.

Watched College Humor (1933) to see what Bing Crosby had to do in it. Well, sing a little, of course. Football with leather helmets, fraternity shenanigans, sorority sexiness, making out, and professor Crosby hooks up with hot student. Pre-code movies sure liked to offer up the gals dishabille and drinking themes!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0023900/

Hold Your Man (also 1933) with Jean Harlowe and Clark Gable, hottie and con man get together and have a rocky romance. Just-met couple spending the night together and scenes in a women's "reformatory" as well as glorifying the con artist. Harlowe and Gable sure were young and cute/handsome!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0024130/

Both were kind of shallow and sometimes meandering plots. College Humor wandered all over the map, but it seemed to a great degree to be an excuse to feature Bing singing. Both had some real "characters."

One thing I really notice on old flix: the fast-paced patter. People were expected to listen faster in those days, with comprehension. No dragging out the thing to two and a half hours! And Hold Your Man, mostly romantic comedy, actually had dust in your eyes moments.

Um.. is this one of those pix where there are other versions online that are a little brighter? Or, that it's best viewed live not in 2-D? Because, it's disturbingly dark.

And those black blotches in the sky... are those soot... or are they the shadow ships in Babylon 5?

Seamus Muldoon: Feelin' Groovy.

Heh - that's what I thought when I read the post, and I thought to extend some lyrics, but quickly forgot about it when I realized we were already hundreds of comments in. So, glad you took care of that!

I met Paul Simon once. In the "what I shoulda said" department, I thought that I should've said, "You know, there's not many people who can work 'gaberdeen suit' into lyrics."

nwfront99: Has anyone ever determined for sure what constitutes an "old" post that commenting on would cause a ban? I don't want this IP to get banned but I often read the comments up to a day after they are posted.

Don't know how old is "old," but I think Krebs's take on it above (~40 is good all around. I've wondered if it's age or how long since it's been active. A book thread recently spilled over into the following morning, presumably without anyone getting canned.

But as Krebs noted, you probably won't have anyone read a comment placed on a thread that has been inactive a while.

And as said, reading anything won't get you banned.

nwfront99: I've heard Discus criticized a lot. Why does everybody hate it so much? It seems to work well enough and I like it that the posting history of the poster is easily accessible. Am I missing something?

You're missing more than I want to take time to answer. Surely others will. I don't really mind Disqus, but I only endure it on small, slow-moving blogs. It would be a royal disaster here.

You might get some help from hints on referencing comments here in my unauthorized, unofficial, needs-some-updating Ace of Spades Blog Commenters Survival Guide - see the "Referencing comments" section.

cthulhu: If you accidentally do strikethrough with a CAPITAL "s", you can't undo it with a normal "s". Headed for barrel.

Capital letters work in Ace tags? That's a new one to me.

Underline test

I'd give cthulhu some time off in the barrel just for the knowledge and upper/lower mismatch test - if I had any power over such things. (Tosses beer into the barrel for him.)

Done with many things that kept me up late, including lurking on y'all. Now to crawl off to bed and see if I can have dreams as weird as last night. Looking for some paper or other, I opened a giant manilla art folder and poured out hundreds of small post-it notes. Gaaahhh!

Good night, Gertrudes!

Ghost of John Brown #78: I feel a huge sense of accomplishment. I got banned by the idiots over at Gateway Pundit for pointing out their lies about Ted Cruz.

I'm still subscribed to their newsfeed but have pretty much quit clicking on articles, based on their headlines alone.

So... congratulations, I guess.

This will be the first tale in the Harry Potter series not to be penned by Rowling.

I remember the month I picked up Spider-Man and Strange Tales featuring Dr Strange, and the artist was not Ditko. A harsh lesson. What once was original creation becomes merely a corporate franchise. (Except, Rowling retains her rights to the riches from her characters.)

Sorta relatedly, On Wednesday, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the ruling that Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel transferred the rights to the character to Warner Bros. in 2001.
