You folks looking at "clusters of three" deaths,

Last week, I thought I read it was (oh, argh, brain glitch, what's her name, similar to her father's) and Lemmy and Bowie.

Rickman would be first of three, then.

Or is the silly superstitious rule actually "whatever last three we noticed that there were"?

Vashta Nerada: Of the 350 terrorist attacks worldwide over the past 12 months, 348 were initiated by mohammedans.

Notably, one of the remaining two attacks was carried out by the Kurdish underground. The other was perpetrated by a woman supporter of a leftist group in Turkey.

Lest it be thought the other two were American Christian militiamen or something!

ThisBeingMilt: One in the same...

"One in the same" is meaningless!

It's "one and the same!"

A redundancy, meaning "the same thing."

Am I the only one who thinks "Kerry, Ash Carter Called Iran To Help When U.S. Sailors' Boats Had Trouble, Allowing Them To Be Captured" is significant news? Or am I still asleep? (Checks to see earlier comment really did get posted.)

I suppose our sailors' abuse by Iran is old news now, and Kerry and Carters' perfidy pales to insignificance beside the death of Snape and debating Cruz birtherism. Oh, well.

Pardon my snark. Haven't had my coffee yet.

Yeah, Rickman was good.

Morning, Glories!

The last I read
'Ere I went to bed
Was news so eerie-seeming,
When I awoke,
I thought, "A joke!
Surely I was dreaming!"

Wow! I won Powerball. Not the big one, of course, but, let's see, after Fed taxes, after state taxes, after paying off my debts, I should have... enough to buy every Moron-scribed book. And a cookie.

Just kidding. I won nothing. As always.

Big fire across the street from the "office" tonight. Noticed it when a couple of "booms" shook our building. It's a gas station/quickie mart that had the (separate building) car wash burn. Saw it before the firemen got there - roaring! Now, no more smoke, looks like they're not hosing it down anymore, but still lots of trucks and flashing lights. Exciting!

News says the manager called 911 then turned off the gas pumps and got everyone out immediately, and the fire was never near the pumps, and the tanks were underground of course, but, still... Helluva thing, those guys rushing in to a gas station on fire!

Time to pack up the tablet and head for the ol' ranchero. If I don't get back, and I probably won't, let this be my Good Night, Gracies.

cthulhu: ...I pray that each member of the family will find their way to the proper point on that spectrum, so their untroubled memories will comfort them in the future -- and that the family share of themselves to other family members to magnify the good and diminish the sorrow.

So nicely said, Cthu.

I've never had to deal with Altz, thank heavens, but it seems about as awful as can be, losing the memories, losing the relationships, is losing oneself.

There are other horrible ways to become estranged. Folks should feel free to pray (fwiw) for my sibling, once brilliant and creative and would-be spiritual, now isolated for many years, paranoid, vengeful-minded, threatening - heartbreaking for our 95yo mother who lies awake at night sometimes worrying about him.

And then there's just coma. You don't even know if they're in there at all anymore. Although, I have to say, talking to my step-father - a hard-ass man I didn't get along with, but holding his hand while he was comatose - telling him Mom would be okay, that he didn't have to worry, and he could let go, and having him pass within a day or two after that, you might assume that somewhere inside, they're still listening, no matter what it seems like.

Since I apparently am not the California Powerball winner (really, a single winner? Poor soul is doomed), I'll say...

Whew!

I'll just win next week's ordinary jackpot that nobody notices. Much safer.

Last night, by the time I tried to tune in to the ONT, the site was down. I was sure it was something to do with click-overload from the State of the Onion screech, but it turns out to have been only Pixy putting the old hamsters out to pasture (where they were promptly eaten by a band of roving, wild Iranian weasels) and installing some new rodents who can, apprently, keep time.

So, I thought I'd better check in now, before something else goes wrong, like the last time the servers acted up.

Evening, intelligensia of the Interwebz!

Drop the soap and drink the Kool-Aid

What's the Kool-Aid reference here supposed to be? The NY Slimes headline, I'm supposing?

Y'know, Kool-Aid always gets the rep, but (in the interest of historical accuracy), the origin of the phrase is from the Jonestown suicide-massacre, and it was actually "Flavor Aid." Of course, "Drank the Flavor Aid" would never have caught on.

One show we've enjoyed watching lately is early Hopalong Cassady. One of the good guys, on and off-screen, like Clayton Moore.

I think the first TV shows were re-cuts of the theater releases. However! In one, Hoppy and his crew help a naive settler work a mine on his property. Bad guys were a corrupt banker and the ranchers who thought they'd sold a worthless property to naive settler. They swindle, and nearly murder several times over. In the end, Hoppy tells them all to git outta town, when they should all, by rights and frontier justice, be strung up. Guess maybe that wouldn't have been good-guy enough for a "kids'" flick, but all I could think about was them escaping justice to perpetrate their evils on others.

For some reason (Dragnet?) I'm reminded of Highway Patrol. Didn't get to see that very often, and haven't seen one in decades, but I remember liking it.

There was a "TV memories" thread on Ace the other day, mostly just about classic lines from old shows, but of course wandered off into movies and commercials. Lines from Bygone Days

Okay, read the first 150 or so comments, so let me see if I've got this right.

Iran made a bunch of GOPe congressmen kneel with their hands on their heads and Haley delivered a surrender statement while wearing a hijab.

Democrats and Republicrats alike barked and clapped when thrown fish, and Obama and Kerry are not hanging from lamp posts.

About right? Just another day in the Obamanation.

Ting: I understand Carly has been all over Mitt lately to try to get him to join the fun and run again.

Maybe Carly thinks she could be a Historic First Female Vice-President… if Mitt ran again and got the nomination, if he chose her for veep, if they won the election.

I'd like to think Mitt is not interested. In any case, please, God, no!!

I'll admit, I skip a lot of the talking-head political ones - can only take so much Hillary or Barack after all. I skip them in my YouTube feeds as well. I used to watch them more, but with the election year, it's overload.

Others, e.g. Trump on Meet the Press, PMSNBC edits out Brodderick question, Tulsa apartment fire lady, I've already seen.

You usually have at least something new to me. So, too many? I don't think so. Always nice to have the option to watch, and remember there's likely folks who come here, who may not comment, but for whom your posts are a primary resource.

Hope I haven't just brought that on.
