Vic: ...sending sensitive equipment to Cuba by mistake.

Hey, it was a simple shipping error. Could happen to anyone. Blame UPS.

Vic: Democrat operatives show up at Trump rally to disrupt the event.

This is going to continue, and it will only get uglier.

The Civil War of 2016 is ramping up.

Vic: [Oweepy] said that sales of guns have soared under his presidency because gun rights groups have convinced people that somebody is going to come get your guns...

Almost true! ...except it wasn't the "gun rights groups," though. 'Twas Oweepy & his gang, who, blatantly, have convinced people they are going to come get the guns.

Reminds me of Mark Twain's best way of lying: tell the truth, but tell it so badly you're unconvincing. Well, unconvincing to the blindered half the populace, anyway.

L, Elle - God bless you with a refreshing break from the work and the stress, both. If what you're suffering comes from good work, at least you know it comes from good work. Taking flak, over target, & all that.

I, also, have contemplated Job a lot in recent years. My situation is so similar... except, my travails aren't as bad... and I wasn't a man of great faith to be tested... and my troubles aren't inexplicable but derive from my own dumbly digging a deep hole for myself... and I don't have any friends coming around to criticize and commiserate.... but other than that, so similar...!?!

Well, this day's done for me.

Good night, Gracies.

Just watched the Coke Kickers flick. Amusing.

The scratches, lint, and faded colors remind me, though, of the Super-8 films I've got in the catacombs that need transferring to digital. Will I ever get to it, I wonders?

And for fans of the medium...

At CES 2016, Kodak is kicking off its Super 8 Revival Initiative, which looks to place more Super 8 cameras into the hands of the new generation of filmmakers with the celebration of 50 years of the manufacturing of Super 8 film...

Home, where the cats live, where the dog can run free outside, and where I can drink.

Milady just brought me a Brandy Alexander. Don't think I've ever had a BA before. Gotta do something with the brandy that didn't go into the holiday egg nog, right?

Night cap with brain freeze.

Wow, I look away for a few minutes and there's an ONT and getting toward 200 comments.

So... howdy. Guess what.

I have seen great hunks of it over the years, stumbling on it while flipping through cable channels.

I have seen many classic clips of it, of course.

And, yes, memorable lines, so many great lines, so familiar.

But never until tonight have I actually sat down and watched it from the beginning to the end.

Finally, I can punch a hole on my moron card where it says,

[x] watched "Animal House."

Thanks for the encouragement from the Moron horde (special hat tip to Neidermeyer's Dead Horse, naturally).

Kept trying to figure out where else we'd seen the guy who played Daniel Simpson Day. Milady thought it looked like the bartender in the concluding episode of Quantum Leap, and by golly, she was right; she remembers that episode a lot better than I do! (He was also in the first episode.) But we know him better as Sheriff Farley from My Cousin Vinny.

Did you know the actress who played Mrs Wormer played Mary, the Mother of Jesus, is The Last Temptation of Christ? Well! Thank you, iMDB.

Haven't watched the video yet, but did read the transcript linked.

Thanks, cth. A grim reminder of how tyranny takes over by gradualism rather than sudden, overt conquest. Added to my blog heap o'links.

A couple of other good links about life under tyranny.

Chuck Norris v Communism c/o Dr. Tar, IOTW Report

Grocery Shopping, Soviet Union, 1990 by Aleister, Progeressives Today. I think maybe this was linked from Ace of Spades. Or maybe here. I don't always keep track.

L, Elle: I'm pretty sure Fenelon is a man. I remember someone asking about his wife. Or if she is a woman, she could be a married lesbian.

FenelonSpouse is a school bus driver, last I heard.

FenelonSpoke has, I've noticed, been careful to not mention either Spoke or Spouse as m/f. Nor does FS correct those who presume, that I've seen. I have a lot of respect for that. It's not easy, as I know from watching discussion groups going back to pre-web CompuServe.

Anyway, we're all genderless pixels in gray boxes on this bus.

Reminds me of the study done on folks asked to describe babies.

Babies dressed in blue diapers were described as strong, handsome.

Babies dressed in pink diapers were described as sweet, pretty.

Babies dressed in yellow diapers... people actually peeked inside the diaper before giving an opinion.

Max Rockatansky: 10 years max is the answer to 'what's the longest period a person can hold the office of President?'

Heh heh heh. You think so? By the spirit of FDR, we'll just have to executive order our way around that one!

Meanwhile, Donald Trump on Face the Nation, asked about his new ads, said he's $35 million under budget, and doesn't really think he needs to advertise, but will anyway.

FenelonSpoke: We can all get obsessed about politics or we wouldn't here, but for Pete's sake I just want- and need- some things not to be about politics. John Constable was not part of the GOP.
However, FS, if Cloyd hadn't done that, we wouldn't have had the most amusing and ironically apt reply

Brother Cavil: Your Rorschach ink blot tests must be interesting.

Crows and hawks are having a war outside. Not the first time. Wild stuff.

Crows have the advantage of ganging up. Hawks have better voices.

FenelonSpoke: It's fine, Cloyd, if you want to say "Fuck The Gop" as much as you like as your daily mantra, but can you please not give an analogy between Constable-one of the greatest British landscape artists ever-and your dark feelings about the GOP and life.

Forget it, FenelonSpoke. It's MoronTown.

I'm pretty sure that's a picture of the tail-end of the Oklahoma Land Rush. The structure you see is a Sooner's sod home after a tornado.
