About two hours ago, driving to town, heard about the shooting on the radio, local Fox station. Infuriating bubbleheads.

Woman tells some details about this happening at "the building," the SUV, number shot or killed, various vague info.

She switches "live" to some other woman in California who, with many um's and stutters, says the same thing only less.

Local guy interrupts her report to at least identify the city, but hardly a full recap. Back to stutter girl.

I'm fuming and cussing at these jackasses. "RECAP!"

Any word from the Governor yet, asks first girl? Stutter girl says blah blah blah.

Has the President been informed? We have spokesperson from the White House. At this point I turn the radio off briefly to prevent me smashing it (harder than it already has been beat up whenever the SCOAMF comes on).

When I turn it back on, they switch to Shep Smith (izzat his name?). He's saying, "as we have seen..." only of course I didn't see anything because its radio. And he adds nothing but rehash of what I've already heard and I still don't know what "the building" is.

Turned it off, confident I can get more info in two minutes on AoSHQ posts and comments than I would get listening to those twits for another hour. And I did.

Holy samoleons, I've been away for hours and we're only on the Art thread still? Ace must've had a hard night hunting hobos. Anything commented that I Must Know? Did we get all the rapist, sniper, and Waldo comments in? And bear rapists?

And almost 800 comments? That's nothing. Why, back in the day... or was it overnight?.... what was I saying?

Today's least competent criminal story.

Tulsa, about 3:30 am, Walgreens at 71st and Lewis.

Police say he asked for some items and gave a clerk money to pay for them. The clerk was making change when he pulled out the gun.

The clerk closed the register, gave the robber his change and walked away from him.

Other customers were inside the store, but no one was injured.

The robber left the store.

That little article of Dr. Piper of OkWU sure is getting a lot of play. Must be a dozen items a day about it in my newsfeeds. (And nice to have something from the ol' home town that's positive, as opposed to the occasional viral story like "crackhead mother puts baby in washing machine" from a year or two back.)

In case you missed it, here's the original at OkWU.edu

Speaking at the National Bar Association's 60th anniversary celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Montgomery bus boycott Tuesday in Alabama, Clinton appealed to the conspiracy-minded instincts of those who believe that photo ID laws represent a Republican effort to suppress the vote, rather than a way to prevent voter fraud.

"I thought we'd solved that problem," Clinton said about voting access. "Unfortunately, there is mischief afoot. Some people are just determined to keep other Americans from voting."

Morning, Glories!

I see, despite no Vic, we have our share of uplifting world news. And Wednesday is off and running.

I had the strangest dream. I was back in high school, on a class trip to Tokyo, but had no luggage, no cell (we didn't have cells anyway when I was in HS, but whatever), no money, and no idea where the rest of the class was. A cute girl and her brother helped me out, so it wasn't all bad.

Probably the pepperoni pizza I had late last night.

Agreed on no Iron Giant sequel. Don't mess with perfection!

Nevertheless, the Magnus-Iron Giant cover is a good mix. Home Magnus figures out IG is a good guy.

Now I want to watch Iron Giant again!

Back again.

That sure is a gray picture for what is (here) a bright and sunny morning! I've had enough gray from the last weeks rains and overcast, thanks.

Here's something I was listening to yesterday and thinking how grateful I was to have heard it in my youth. Kept me from being swept even further into leftish "permissiveness" than I was.

Alas, as has been said of 1984 and Brave New World, the Regressives probably took as instructional what was (presumably) intended as cautionary.

Morning, Glories! ^2

Morning thread is so late, the sun is already well up here in the heart of America. Once it got light, a pretty sight: What I first took to be frost actually looks like a light dusting of snow. First of the Winter. Welcome to December!

That snow was the final bit of the deluge we experienced over Thanksgiving weekend. Glad it only got snowy for the very tail-end!

Now, clear skies and warmer temps predicted through the next week. I'll take it! Nice to see the actual sun again. Hooray for local, if not global, warming!

Sun shining, birds calling, coffee was good. I'll take it.

Off to feed the pets....

While Washington meant for this to be an innocent tweet to wish its fans a happy Thanksgiving, perhaps it would be best to not do this again next year.

What??? It's just the team name, right? These people are beyond nuts.

FenelonSpoke: I guess that I can put Oklahoma Wesleyan on a list of possible schools to send my son to...

FS, If you're still monitoring - Milady Webworker was just saying she saw a woman from OkWU jogging in the park one day and thought, if we had a kid in college, it would be a great comfort to know the kid wouldn't be coming home full of Communism and craziness, and safe physically as well. Bartlesville, pop. ~35,000, is hardly free from the criminals and crazies of any town, but proportionally it's a very safe place. And folks are mostly very nice. Even at Wal-Mart and the DMV!

Oregon Muse: I appreciate your pessimism, but, really, it's a solid Christian establishment with fine students, and I expect Dr Piper's position is solid. Any SJW's would be laughed off campus.

They advertise online courses, btw. Since I already know everything, I haven't looked into it, but if anyone's interested...

BTW, Seamus, I've been meaning to mention that the other day, after reading the sample chapter on your website, I ordered To Save Us All From Ruin while it was, ahem, within our budget range.

Unfortunately, to "pick it up," Milady has to use the in-town computer, and what with the holiday running-around, on top of our usual distracted lifestyle, we haven't done that yet. Looking forward to it, though.

That was my first experience ordering a book online, and my first time "buying" a Moron's book. Maybe now that I've got the hang of it...

Confessing to crazy: Mostly, I got out of the long-form reading habit after the brain trauma (a/k/a ADHD caused by reading too many comments online) - which makes reading the book thread with all its great suggestions kind of weird - and Milady mostly buys what she finds at the thrift store. Stacks of books everywhere in the house, though.
