Five hundred days

and then what?

Morning, Glories!

Now I must go back to reading Vic's allaegedly-abbreviated but always-welcome morning report...

What students in the world get for lunch.

Bluebird of Bitterness lifts this collection of images from the Daily Mail, but you'd rather see the pix on BoB's site than DM, right?

Weep for the current generation - no power to the brains.

~~~also~~~
A new group can join the school kids using #thanksMichelleObama as a bitter hashtag. The kids were merely Tweeting pictures of unappetizing and skimpy school lunches conforming to her anti-obesity program. The newcomers to the hashtag will be unemployed school cafeteria workers, laid off because kids refuse to buy the tasteless fare.
As Milady so aptly put it last night:
George Will just keeps getting weirder and weirder.
Every one of those lunches looked so hearty and delicious! I really like the local-ethnic variety. Food that local kids think is "normal" like French brie, Greek dolmadesl, Ukranian borscht(?), and Korean kim-chee(?) would've been weeeird to young me in public or private school even 'way back in the good old days. We just had hamburgers, spaghetti, pizza Wednesdays, mystery meat Thursdays, just standard American fare. But hearty.
Weep for the malnourished generation. The pathetic American lunch wouldn't keep a bluebird alive.
Speaking of which, I ran across a picture you might not have seen but might want to. :D
What I liked about Uncle Joe's replacing Canada with China was how he went on, evidently utterly oblivious to his error.
I'll sympathize that anyone might word-switch without realizing it. Milady will testify I have done that in conversation now and then.
However, most folks catch themselves, don't they? I mean, Perry at least looked like he realized he'd referred to the former President as Ronald Raven.
Besides: Canada, China, they've both got red flags and start with the letter C - simple mistake anyone could make.
Peed on a wasp's nest, got stung on genitals. Painful laugh! (Didn't read the "why I like them" half, just the funny first part.)
Every summer, many wasps will get in this hundred-year-old concrete barn we call our house. They get in somewhere, somehow, despite all the holes I've plugged. (How bad is it? Leaving the front screen door ajar for the pets to get in and out hasn't really affected the inside-wasp numbers much.)
Family and friends know not to panic when there's a wasp buzzing around the room. Unprovoked, ordinary wasps ignore us. When someone doesn't know to just be quiet, it's cruelly amusing to see them get up, panicked, running around, and, yes, zap! getting stung. Every. Time.
Wasps are smart. I stupidly reached into an old broken gas light one day, and a resident mud dauber building a nest in there let me know my hand was in the wrong place by just touching me with the stinger - not really stung, no poison. I was impressed. And suddenly wiser.
Good thing I didn't pee in it!
I have a copy of a fan edit of Generations (that was the Kirk-Picard movie, right?) - with the Kirk/TOS parts edited out. I'd read that it made it kind-of a decent Trek Next Gen episode.
I've had that in the library for a long, long time, but, much as I want to see the fan edit, I've never watched it.
I figured, by rights, I should review the original film before watching the fan edit, for comparison's sake.
But... But.. I've blocked it all out -- the whole movie. I remember some scene with Picard hovering over Kirk, maybe the death scene?, but nothing else.
This dilemma might never be resolved.
Library of Congress -- one of the many reasons we hope D.C. just gets hit by an EMP and not a hard blast.
I mean, if those are the choices. Rather than the loss, I'd much rather see Fed Gov moved to north-central Nebraska, and D.C. turned into a museum. Alas, it would probably be the United States of America Memorial Museum.
Milady had a couple of book reviews she wanted to proffer today, but I think the week got too busy for her to write 'em.
So, took me only 35 min to review the ONT and the comments above, skimming lightly over some of the ammo discussion. Not too bad. Sunday pace.
Good thing I got nothin. Saves space.
Gonna take a peek in the library now.
