Took me a minute, but I'm figuring that the gals in the thought balloon are from Orange is the New Black, a tv series about women in prison. Is that right?

I have only picked up on the show's existence and what it's about by reading comments in blogs. Frequently relating to Hills.

Topical humor can be challenging for folks like me who quit associating with mass media years ago.

Great picture. Reminds me of our daughter's smile, hugging her two new baby brothers. Long time ago. Ready... Set... Indulge!

Heh.

You know how sometimes the cobs say, use this as the general thread, so the next thread can stay on-topic?

Works great... for about half an hour or a hundred comments on the new thread, whichever comes first.

Oklahoma may not have Australia's variety of Death By Nature, but we do our best... or, worst...

An Oklahoma man has died after contracting a waterborne disease while swimming in a local lake... contracted Primary Amebic Meningoencephalitis (PAM), a rare infection that derives from contact with Naegleria fowleri -- also referred to as the brain-eating amoeba... -Fox News

...then someone thought to check for what may have happened just one week earlier, a tick bite that went unnoticed. The one tiny bite, enough for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever to ravage Jo's body, forcing doctors to amputate her arms and legs. ... Now a quad amputee, Jo's family is rallying around her, raising money to help her in her new life they say she's lucky to have.... -KOCO

What did I say, yestermorn? What did I say? I said, "I'm concerned about Andy burning out if he keeps doing these long, rambling posts every morning." Sure enough, I tune in this morning and no morning post. Darn, I hate being right.

Chupacabras: ...Is it just crazy talk to vote for the lesser of two evils in the Dem primary then vote for whomever in the general? It doesn't make me super comfortable, ethically, but in 20 years living in PA and NJ, not once has my vote really mattered.

Milady and I registered as Dems when we moved to Chicago. No point in being a Republican there, the Dem will win.

Fifteen years later, moved to Oklahoma and returned to Republican status. Where the Republicans win.

Repugnant, but pragmatic.

rickb223: Bigger question. WHY WASN'T THE FVCKING GUN LOADED??

Yeah.

Because he'd earlier fired two blasts from the porch, per Biden's instructions?

Gave Home Invader a Running Start
AWR Hawkins, Breitbart

Norman, Oklahoma ...Childers grabbed a lever-action rifle and chased the man down, but once he had him cornered he remembered the gun was not loaded. So he told the man to take off running, and said he would let him go if he got to the end of the driveway before Childers caught him again. In the interim, Childers grabbed ammo, loaded the rifle, and jumped on his four wheeler. He caught the alleged home invader before he reached the end of the driveway and held him at gunpoint until police arrived....

How long was that guy's driveway?

I have read that W10's keystroke logging and whatever that "intelligent helper" app is, both ship with default "on" but can be turned off.

That's all I've heard/read about it so far. Not quite ready to upgrade....

I must've missed an article by Ace yesterday. Do I have this right that we all now have to be kinder, gentler, more compassionate conservatives because Ace changed his meds again?

Well, sure was easier to get caught up on comments when there aren't 300 of 'em. Alas, no Vic.

Cruz was in town yesterday. I took an unusual-for-me late nap and woke up too late to go see him. Oh, well. It's only August 2015.

The paper said he was the first Presidential candidate to visit town, but I have a pic of me and my little sister with Barry Goldwater says otherwise.

Oh yes I did.
Oh, I got willowed,
Once again.

While I was on the

Didn't see I
was alone.

And in my sorrow
I did wallow,
When I got
willowed.

Speaking of Huma...

Jurassic World spoiler - oh, who cares?

Deaths in monster movies are usually either random innocents or people we were supposed to dislike (the lawyer in the outhouse in JP1).

In JWorld, Aunt Boss's assistant, who is supposed to watch the nephews, has a spectacularly gruesome demise. Didn't seem to fit either monster victim profile. Her only "flaw" was, the boys ran off on her; she was genuinely concerned about them. The boys get to watch her extended death, merely fascinated, like she was their meanest school teacher. Nothing says mourn this person; she's never mentioned again - just, wow! look at that spectacular death!

Later, I thought, she looked like Huma. Been meaning to go back and re-watch the scene...

I enjoy your usual superhero crossovers. I enjoy your occasional cartoonish match-ups (still chuckle at Phoney and Uncle $). I note this one has two cartoonish superheroes! (Well, at least by that loose definition that includes Tarzan and Sherlock and Batman as superheroes.) Those styles go together really well, don't they!

Met Mr. Aragones, briefly, at ComiCon years ago, in the small publications area IIRC. A true gentleman; my wife and daughter still go starry-eyed when recalling talking with him. :D
