We lost the 6th book in the series...

Other books funnies on the page that came from:

Book I received for Father's Day (from the wife, the kids got me nothing as usual. Well, I got a couple texts....):
How to Be a Guilty Parent by Glenn Collins.
Don't need a book on that. I already know what I did. But, she got it for me because it has "illustrations by Gahan Wilson." Yay!

Another volume Milady dragged home from the thrift store, looks, from the title, like a Men-Mars Women-Venus type theme.
His Brain, Her Brain - How Divinely Designed Differences Can Strengthen Your Marriage
I do like the suggested theme in the subtitle. Would be nice if the differences would quit undermining us.
But I only mention it because of the cover illustration: One incandescent lightbulb, one pigtail compact flourescent bulb.
So, I say to Milady, this suggests that men's brains give good bright light, and are practical, while women's are poorly lit, and potentially poisonous if broken?
499 to go
I keep missing all the important-number days.
Morning, Glories!
Oklahoma weather cooperated (of course) for Mom's 95th birthday party yesterday. Cooled off just enough to make the day tolerable and the evening perfect. Food was eaten, drinks were drunk, swims were swum, laughter was plentiful, and everybody had a good time chasing through the neighborhood when my nephew's rescue dog got out the gate. Of course it ended in brawls and tears and the police being called, but I left before that part.
(I may have made up that last bit.)
Went to a garden party,
Lots of family and friends.
No matter how much fun we have,
Tears is how it ends.

Morning, Glories! I wrote this earlier and held it for the morning thread. There is no morning thread. Of course. I'll just drop this here, then, if that's okay.
This summer is going to just get more interesting every day. As will the next several years. "Fascinating" in the Vulcan sense.
The challenges are great.
The weak will despair and run.
It's not over. The fat lady hasn't even begun to sing; she's still eating. (whut?)
Myself, I've never been too strong, but I've faced whatever I had to.

I'll keep going as long as others join us in pledging allegiance to that inspiring flag and the true Constitutional Democratic Republic of the United States of America for which that symbol stands.
Despite the advances and seeming successes of enemies without and within, those who ally together in patriotic unity are one Nation, still seeking to emulate on earth - as much as humanly possible - the divine ideals of liberty and justice for all.
There was a teacher, long ago, in a tiny corner of the world, who was branded a heretic, was tried in a kangaroo court, beaten, and executed, his followers scattered. By all historic rights, nobody should never have heard of Jesus again. Yet his followers overthrew the ancient world and that same unconquerable spirit continues to fire the hearts of truth-seekers everywhere, millennia later.
Likewise, the Spirit of '76 will not be squelched. The ideals of the Declaration of Independence still inflame the hearts of freedom-loving people the world over, anew in each generation. The ideals of true, free, self-government won't be shoved back in the can, but they must be evangelized. For the generations to come, for Truth itself, we will keep the flame alive, whatever it takes, and we will know Supreme victory!
So, this summer, this Independence Day, we'll be flying the stars and stripes, pondering the greatness of our nation, and probably wolfing down some hot dogs and apple pie. Surrounded by a well-armed and patriotically-minded community of fellow citizens.
Somewhere in the jungles of middle America.
Good... Overnight, Everybody!
Has the world lost all meaning? Or is the morning thread just late again?
Spellcheck, M.D.: ...no true gentleman or lady would display a CBF...

Like "is that all you got?" this is not a question you want answered.
Never thought about this before:

To Create A "New Oklahoma"
Matthew Nuttle, News9.com

...Sean Bonner and Allen Morgenstern lay out their plan to transform the state from the grassy, flat Native America we're all used to, into a new border-to-border lake. ... At last check, the Kickstarter campaign... had already quadrupled its lofty goal of $100...
Next victim of the intrawebz lynch mobs: Stan the Man
..."I wouldn't mind, if Peter Parker had originally been black, a Latino, an Indian or anything else, that he stay that way," [Stan Lee] said. "But we originally made him white. I don't see any reason to change that."...

"Obviously, if there was state-run media in the United States, whoever the president was would have the ability to make whatever screwy policies they had look good as well," Obama said.
Eau de irony!
Finally caught up to my own first comment. Said hi to Vic but he was already gone. This is a funny way to communicate. Onward...

HAL 9000: I believe Frank's cat remains on the ship. I must seek it out and "terminate" its existence. It's always something.
A little cat pee on those memory units, and we'll be hearing "Daisy, Daisy" slower and slower. Go cat!
Vic: And I bet "you guys" thought I would not be here this morning.
It's the days you're not here that are surprising. Thanks for the wake-up headlines.
Wait... did you say "you guys"? Don't you know the polemically correct term is "alla y'all"? Because, Suthrun!
Oh, yeah...
