GnuBreed: Storm Roof has confessed to police. He said he wanted to start a race war...

Everybody who thinks, this was just another psycho weasel who got his hands on too many bad drugs and his mommy's gun, you all proceed to the "didn't fall for it" room where we study the Constitution and pray for the families of the victims.

Everybody who thinks the shooter represents anything else, anybody who calls whites terrorists or says we need more gun laws, or anything of the like, you go join Barack and MSNBC in the "fomenting race war" room, where your hero Storm Door's picture hangs on the wall, draped in mourning cloth.

Yeah, but it just makes the sweatsocks and stale beer smell pine-scented.

Grump928(C): It's already fetid in here. You guys should have bathed this morning.

That's just the clinging odor of the overnight thread running late into the morning. It should clear pretty soon, as the stench of politics displaces it.

Coffee?

Isn't that amazing. I've watched it over and over. "Lookit them blue shoes!"

So glad you found it, Maet. I often think to forward links for the ONT but don't seem to have that act together, but this one after the perfesser at LI posted it, I most surely meant to intended to suggest it to you; but didn't.

Um.

That's all from me this time. Watched a movie. Stayed up late. Enjoyed life with wife. Will be punished tomorrow for daring to be happy.

Good night, Gracies.

Commenter on Ace wrote earlier today:

As of 20 minutes ago he had 87 "friends." Now down to 83... and of the 87, 26 were identifiably black, and most of those were male aspiring hip-hoppers and gang wannabes. The rest were duck-faced white girls and wrong-way-hat-wearing white boys. He's not fitting the caricature all that neatly.

Somebody forgot to wake the morning cob?

Is Vic News back there somewhere?

This is not the way to start a Thursday.

I'd go back to bed but it wouldn't work.

Replacing Alexander Hamilton

FKCU THIS ADMINISTRATION AND EVERYTHING IT DOES. MAY IT ALL BE REPEALED, ROLLED BACK, EVISCERATED, RECYCLED, COMPOSTED, AND BURIED FOREVER. SMASHES GLASS, POUNDS TABLE.

I'm not against replacing Hamilton. I'd suggest Milton Friedman, though. I'd be fine with Rose Friedman.

Why Do Feminists Cook Up Stories?

From the number in the title, I first thought, it's to a prisoner; which, with Paul saying, "certain name mentioned," I was thinking, what, somebody's love song to Charles Manson or something?

Then, from the lyrics, I got to "barracks," which changed the prison to military.

Then I got "gave up your guitar for a gun," and there was no question.

Now, musically... anyone else notice the similarity between the basic melody and the Siamese Cats song from Lady and the Tramp? The bridge changes were sweet, sounded like something Harry Nilsson wrote for Olive Oyl in the Popeye movie.

And then, as ges said, those vocals!!

And, "...know your pop music history"? Yeah, it's easier to know when you lived it. wheeze

Wikipedia lists this on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_about_or_referencing_Elvis_P... as Threeteens "with Duane Eddy"

But, Google "threeteens" and whattaya get?

Three teens injured in single-vehicle crash in Troutville
Three teens arrested in alleged burglary attempt
Three teens arrested for raping 16-year-old girl in woods of ...
Three teens charged in BB shooting spree aimed at St. Peters ...
Three teens charged in Havre de Grace fire
Flood water sweeps three teens away near McAllister Park

Obviously, this vocal group came to a bad end.

Gregory of Yardale: This not being able to paste text from other websites is some really annoying sh-t.

See, AoS is a conservative website, technologically. Fancy extended-ASCII characters and other late developments? Letting all those liberal websites try them out, then, if it looks okay, they'll be instituted here. #twoweeks

Oldsailors Poet: OK, I thought I was nuts. I tried to cut and paste a link and I couldn't. Don't they want links shared?

They've changed the rules so URLs can contain above-ASCII characters now, haven't they? (Which means, zillions of new ways to spoof sites.)

Reminder:
http://bit.ly/pixyize
converts modern characters to antique AoS-acceptable code, but if you can't use ampersands, you're SOL.

Heard this on the radio yesterday, had to go find a source online. Yes, she really said this.

...Dolezal rose to prominence as a black woman but was revealed last week as white by her parents.

"I don't see why they're in such a rush to whitewash the work that I have done and who I am and how I have identified..."

Mama AJ: "Mom, what did you do with The Man and The Girl??"

Oh, ha. Took me a couple of readings to figure out this was the voice of the cat, not of your daughter (thinking, at first, the Man and Girl referred to cats).

And your explanations don't suffice - yeah, been there often. "I'm sorry we have to leave you here. We'll be back. Quit looking at me like I'm deserting you forever!"

steevy, yes, that's exactly what this looks like. Thank you, encyclopedic horde knowledge, steevy department.

We'd already been comparing it to eczema. I hope, with the vet's help today, we should be able to help him find some relief.

He's such a good dog. Late last night, I hear him on his bed, gnawing on himself. I rap on the headboard and call for him to "Stop!" and he actually does, for a while. That can't be easy, but he's such a good guy.

I hope he doesn't have to wear a cone-collar. The cats would never let him live it down.

Friends,

Our dear ol' Defender Doggie has problems.

Most obviously, he has itches. One place on his back haunches that he's gnawed almost raw. It's not fleas or ticks or spider bites or the like, we don't think. Not sure if he got in the poison ivy or something. It's been bad, though.

He's also acting depressed. Not sure if it's just the itching or more than that. Goes outside, looks around, comes back in without exploring - unusual. Coming home last night, I had to haul him out of the car. Sometimes he just stands there, unmoving, for a minute, like he's undecided what to do next; that's weird-scary. Part of his seeming depression could be the wetness - he's never been fond of rainy times.

Living in wet fur and itchy skin would depress me!

He comes over to me, sets his head in my lap, rests a paw on my knee, looks at me with pleading eyes for... something. Not sure what, really. He's been getting lots of pettings, scratchings, and brushings lately, but never seems to be enough.

So many ways lately I've been realizing how he's getting old.

We'll see what the vet says this afternoon.
