bluebird: "Actually, almost everything I ever said to my father fell on deaf ears, but that’s another story."

And a sad one you've mentioned before. My sympathies, and prayers for you.

Mortal fathers are supposed to be the ones who are the first representatives, to mortal children, of the immortal Father in Heaven. Fortunately, those whose fathers weren't very representative of the spirit of our First Source can find a way around that, but it's a handicap.

Once in Chicago, Milady and I got a cab ride home. The cabbie was Middle Eastern, but I couldn't say if he was Muzlim. On the way up Lake Shore Drive, we chatted, and I noted the picture on his dashboard of a young boy. He spoke with such pride of his son!

Before we arrived, somehow, talk had turned to belief. He wasn't a believer. I said something (as per my usual spiel) about God being a father. The cabbie grumbled sourly, almost angrily, something to the effect of, "Well, if God is anything like my father…."

As I was paying him off, it struck me to say, "Not like your father, but like the father you want to be to your son."

And he drove off.

We plant seeds. Sometimes we move on before harvest, and only in the life to come will I ever find out if that one moment meant anything to that cabbie. But I was glad for such inSpiration, and that we had seen his love for his own son, on which I could build.

Reaganite Republican is a relatively new find for me. Still trying to assess the site. They do have nice collections of cartoons and images on occasion.

A nice collection of photos of Jerusalem for example.

Or, like today's post from which I stole this Pete-worthy graphic:

Mmmm. Coffee.

MTF: "I'm hungover right now and this is too complicated for me...."

If only I had 'hungover' as an excuse.

(NOT criticizing the content - for which, thanks as ever, Y-Not - I just can't force my mind into those little grading boxes. Hard enough to work in these little gray boxes.)

I obviously have nothing to contribute. Entering lurk & learn mode, as usual.

Are you ready to rumble?!

Um, not really. I just barely got to the EMT (which wasn't that E, was it?) before it got stomped -- gotta go brew some coffee. But by Albus P Dumbolgore, then I'll be ready to rumble.

Vic: "There is a serious discussion floating around that we are approaching the 'end times' and he [Choomster] is the anti-Christ. There are a lot of signs and portents being made now."

Naawww, he may be in the anti-Christ's general camp, but Jugears is not even qualified for that position.

Oh, I so enjoy a good theological knock-down drag-out first thing in the day.

Morning, Glories!

Pete: "Believe it or not but on Fridays I really try to find some relevant political topics to bring you."

Just re-read that. Did you mean on Fridays you try to find some NON-political topics? (That's how I "read" it before.)

As long as I'm here…

Good morning, glorious PoliNadirs. Where is everybody? :)

I came over here early because, over at Ace of Spades, Vic (Pete's brother by another mother) mentioned that there's considerable talk about Obama being the anti-Christ. I thought about linking to chrissy's "ponderings about the Anti-Christ," but didn't think I could track down the post quickly enough. Not sure what kind of crazies that might lure into this garden, anyway. (Just found the post, easily, using the category "Christianty.". Tags work!)

Instead, I merely added my 2¢ that Obama might be effectively in their camp, but ol' Jugears wasn't qualified to actually be the anti-Christ.

[ponders] How did such a vacuous, incompetent, unqualified, useless, and incredibly stupid man get where he is? Maximal Peter Principle.

Peaches: "anybody see Anna Puma today? still hoping her kitteh is on the mend."

Hi, Peaches. She posted this in the morning thread:

http://acecomments.mu.nu/?blog=86&post=355775#c23442307

His temperature seems down. Made chicken salad last night, drained the chicken over some dry food, he lapped up a bit of that. Then drank some water. But this morning still no appetite for wet food. Gave him his two meds. And he is curled up again.

Back so soon? Yes, I am.

"What would simply be referred to in the U.K. as 'a shirt' is known as 'a button down' in the U.S."

Hey, fellow USA'ers, I've only lived in the middle of the USA (OK, WI, AR, NM, IL) but I've never known anyone to call it anything but a shirt. As Milady says, this brings into question some of the other word contrasts.

"Button down" only refers to the hatches. Oh, wait, no, that's...

Last night I was the first second to post a link to Jim Hoft about the "Muslim co-pilot" thing. I was hasty and insufficiently dubious. I would apologize, but I'm told that's a Moron card violation, so, whatevs.

I haven't seen that info spread about much today. Where it has been mentioned, it all traces back to the same single dubious source. Dymphna on Gates of Vienna: "And that is what led to my frustrated #ShowMeTheImam" http://bit.ly/1G0Y6Es

That's done. Gonna go read CDR M's post now. Great doggie photo!

In case I don't get back to commentin', y'all have yourselves a merry little evening.

cth: "After 9/11, Dearest was yelling about how the cockpit doors should be impossible to breach."

Sure; as many did, and rightly so; and that's what airlines did, after the horrid fact, In the Airbus crash, we see how that got turned around, with just the reinforced door alone. Besides the number keypad (which psycho overrode) and the aforementioned keylock that wasn't on the Airbus, all American airlines require that, if either pilot leaves the cockpit, another member of the crew goes up there; that might've made it at least less easy for Psycho Pilot to hijack the plane. As I understand it, European airlines are now implementing this.

However, if as reported this psycho really dropped out of pilot training for six months because of depression, he should never have been in the cockpit. Something slipped in the system there. Reports say what was found in his apartment was notes from doctors that he was not qualified to fly, notes meant to be passed to his bosses, torn up and discarded. Fail fail fail. According to friends of his, as a lifelong flying enthusiast (flew gliders as a young teen), "he would just die" if he couldn't fly.

Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit reported from a German blog that in turn cited what I've seen called a Nazi hate site, saying psycho went Muslim during that six months, attending the same mosque as some of the 9/11 murderers. The story hasn't had wide play that I've seen, and where it has, it traces back, ultimately, to that same one source. So, highly dubious. I mention it just FYI in case you run across that.

I wondered if he hit the psycho trifecta, depressed Islamo fanatic jilted by girlfriend, We'll never really know his whole motivation of course. It's all guesswork and detective work, with missing puzzle pieces.

One thing I have learned, just working with computer software if not elsewhere in life. I try to do as much "idiot proofing" as possible, even if the only idiot using the program will be me. If anyone else might use it, I try especially hard to anticipate ways a user will push the wrong button and mess things up. Invariably, one of the first users will try something the programmer never thought of. You just can't implement safeties for absolutely every contingency!

Very pretty.

Did not know that cherry cuttings were supplied back to Japan after WW2. Circularity! (Or, if I ever did know, have long since forgotten - the hazards of living enough decades)

Some of our trees and shrubs are in full bloom. We have a volunteer peach next to the compost bin, visible from the kitchen window. Most years, we don't get any peaches though, thanks to some late, bud-killing freezes; this isn't Georgia. I hope we don't get hit this year, because the tree is just overflowing with brilliant pink blossoms. Well, if we don't get peaches later, at least we've got a beautiful flowering tree right now.

As a volunteer, I presume it grew from some pit reflecting root stock. so, probably not as fat, sweet, and juicy as a normal hybrid, but those small peaches are mighty tasty anyway, when we get them.

Mmmm. Thinking about Milady's peach cobbler past, anticipating (cautiously) cobbler future!

Wonder how cherry trees would do here?

Obama has locked himself in the cockpit and begun a steep descent toward the mountainside. Hope we can break through the cockpit doors in time.

Speaking of, I just watched this:

What the Germanwings Captain was up against [Video, 3:40, CNN on YouTube] - discusses the cockpit door reinforcement and the critical switch the psycho used to lock the captain out. (On the American plane they're showing, there is a key override for the lock; wasn't on that Airbus.) The doors are made of Kevlar with steel reinforcement. That poor pilot would never have got through with the axe he was using. How terrified all the passengers must've been by that point.

As a passenger on flight USA2015, I sympathize.

Korman was having a lot of trouble keeping a straight face. Working with Conway, that must've been a constant problem. There are three videos on YouTube - excuse me for not looking them up for you right now - of outtakes, bloopers, and crack-ups from the show. They sure had fun.

Good heavens! The URL on my nic started "ht.tp" - how long has THAT been messed up? (Not that anyone noticed.)

I keep seeing folks objecting that the plane crash wasn't suicide, it was murder. Ummm. Technically, I believe it's two, two, two acts in one. (That's an ancient tv commercial reference for you young folks.)

Similarly, there's the question of whether suicide-mass-murdering pilot was motivated by depression, a break-up, or some unspecified death cult. Perhaps this fellow hit the trifecta.

Depression turned outward so suicidal tendencies were aggravated into including mass murder by death cult indoctrination, he meant to be shouting alleyhoo akpatui all the way down, but he got despondent thinking about the doctor's note that would end his career, and about his ex-girlfriend. But mostly the girlfriend.

Bandersnatch: "I know a lot of the Horde wants him to be a convert to Islam because it fits the narrative..."

Um... you trollin' bro? :/

I expect 'most everybody just wants the truth. Which of course we may never get.I doubt any of the Horde "wants" him to fit an Islamic terrorist narrative. "Expects" might work there; significant anticipation that he might be a Muz convert suicide-murderer. Surely you wouldn't dispute that statistically nowadays it's a good guess?
