Regurgitating from last thread because I can't think of anything else to say.

Reading about The Nut Who Shall Not Be Named and the judgment against him, I found this quote:
https://twitter.com/daveweigel/status/499311646796685313

[TNWSNBN] "tells me he'll appeal, and that as far as the bloggers go there'll be 'endless lawsuits for the rest of their lives.'"

I just mention it because, even though I didn't (yet) get through the Firefly series, I was reminded of that very memorable scene with the thug creep telling the crew he'd keep coming after them forever.

Where's a jet engine when you really need one?

(If this message can in any way be construed to be Unhelpful to our beseiged Leader, I pray Sir Maetenloch you delete it. And its fraternal twin last thread #133.)

When did Sarah become Roger Ebert?

Perception vs. reality. Just like that horrible disappointment, The Matrix, also by the Weinstein brothers. Well, the first Matrix was a classic. Maybe if this film doesn't get sequeled, it'll be okay.

Aren't the Weinsteins known wacko Progressives? or just wacko? One more than the other brother, IIRC. I've heard bad and good things about this film. Thanks for the trailers. I'm wary. Don't plan to contribute to their coffers at the theaters, in any case.

Streep's character: "When people have the freedom to choose, they choose wrong."

I seem to remember Jugears saying, "people can't be trusted to make good choices" or something like that, but it's not an easy phrase to search out. Jugears told the governors he doesn't trust them; Piers Morgan said people can't be trusted to make our own dietary decisions; stuff like that kept coming up on searching. :D

My understanding is, approval of the IDF's request for restocking is rote in such requests; approval by higher-ups has never been necessary. Thus has it always been. Until now. So Jugears is unilaterally threatening longstanding US policy. (I know, shock, right?)

It'll just be so sad if because of America's Big Mistake, the Israelis get so low on ammo they have to start using their nukes.

Remember when barbarism such as throwing the Christians before the wild beasts in the arenas seemed like ancient history, comfortably long ago and far away from our modern, civilized world? sigh!

These new martyrs for Christ, like all those going back to Stephen and our Master, are literally supremely inSpiring, to stand for Truth with the knife of Pure Evil at their throat. One way or another, the souls forcibly translated for standing for their faith have surely achieved the pinnacle of whole-hearted choosing-for-God, which goal is the very purpose of this Creation. What honor! What glory! A harvest of tested saints! Imagine the welcome they should surely be receiving in the halls of heavenly resurrection…

…while we lesser lights get to experience the continuing hellish barbarism on earth.

502 Hi Mindful Webworker,
I heard about FAA no fly zone on radio this afternoon.
I don't think people there are likely to shoot down a plane?

-Posted by: Carol

Hiya, Carol. Love you. Hope you're doing as well as God lets you. How's the brother? (I'm passing out, but I'll check in the AM for replies.)

It's not the folks who want to come in and loot some QuikTrip. (QT is based here in Tulsa, and I heard good news reports about their primary concern being for safety & relocation of employees from their store in Fergusonistan.) It's the random, occasional Jihadi infiltrator with anti-aircraft weapons.

If the former (out-of-town looter) can take advantage of the situation, why not the latter (out-of country mass murderers)? Chaos is chaos.

Okay, my brief time playing here in the Greater Barrel (you all knew it all along) is over, and I am off to bed.

Good night, Gracies.

FAA Issues Flight Warning Over FERGUSON, MO - Effective Immediately

"Ferguson, Missouri is located right next to Lambert International Airport in St. Louis, Missouri.

"A local commercial pilot and former military aviator informed The Gateway Pundit that there is a no fly zone and this is extremely uncommon."

and, um, various places' reports that all those arrested in Ferguson came from outside the Ferguson area.

Overreaction, or serious terrorist threat to aviation?

Also, HI!

This comment exchange on Ace was, I thought, relevant to this subject, and worth repeating here, regarding the "social modeling" for these "misguided youth":

If it's someone who looked like Carlton from The
Fresh Prince, Grandma wouldn't be as apt to clutch her purse. But I
know guys who do get the cornrolls [sic] in their hair and wear the white, loose fitting tee shirts for the precise reason they want to look
intimidating. They want that thug lifestyle and that's what makes G-Maw
clutch the purse.

There's more nuance to that rather than just Grandma practicing some institutional microagression RAAAAACISM.

—Dave C at August 12, 2014 09:51 AM

Have much experience with the "Gangsta" portion of the Black Community. Had many friends in it. In their eyes, the top of the social ladder is being a well to do bad ass armed and violent drug dealing pimp with a bevy of "Hos" that occasionally need bitch slapping.

Every one of them works to create that image in themselves.

Pardon the language in the quote, but, sadly, it's in context.

I'll see if I can find the Nat'l Geog. Arlington video you recommended. Someday, I suppose, I'll have to get something like a Netflix account. Just one lottery win away from having every luxury. :)

cth: "What an amazing choice of example you made!"

Inspired by recalling that video of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier shushing people, in substance saying, "People! THIS! is what is happening here, THIS! is what is important here!" Just watched it again. "It is requested," the Guard commands! My fist hit my chest and my eyes leaked.

(Heh. Can you imagine some gaggle of fools (survivors from our planet are easily spotted) wandering into the Throneroom in flip-flops and Hawaiian-print shirt with flash camera and popcorn, talking amongst ourselves… I mean, themselves? The "bark" of the Guards would be a tad more powerful than that of the soldier! ZAP!)

Shortly after I posted my earlier comment, I saw again the video of the young man (don't call him a kid!) saluting with the flag on the beach at Normandy. Another "boring" duty.

If these seem a tad off-topic from your initial message, I have to bring things "down to earth" for my mundane mentality. Also, don't recall where I found things, so I don't know, but maybe I first saw one or both of those videos here! For both reasons, I've linked them rather than embedding. (When I don't know what the "rules" are, I make some up as I go along.) :)

No time or spirit to take up crossbows/longbows with Sir D-lamp today, so I'm just gonna say "this" (as the young folks put it) to Vic's succinct comment, put on my faded tie-die tee, and mercinarily throw in some terribly topical classic Head Shop Comix webwork links.

Williams, Winters, Jim Carey (like Williams, also got "Carey does his thing here" in scripts), I'd add Bakshi's work like on 1980s Mighty Mouse: frenetic.

You don't watch freneticness to laugh heartily at the punchline, but in awe of the remarkable verbal parkour. Like watching a blindfolded unicyclist skirt a cliffedge, it is not everybody's cuppa.
