AHA! That's the info I've been looking for before bothering to follow the link. Now I know I don't need to.
A new Palin channel docu-series explores the peculiar lives of American parents who have radical approaches to raising their children.
like the Christian Oklahoma family home-schooling their six children, teaching them about constitution, law, and history. quaint

Hey! I'm only half-way through the comments on the first thread.
I obviously need more coffee. Or to get up earlier. Or, skip all that showering, dressing, feeding the pets, and composing comments and just read read read read...

Joseph Merrick (not an animal!) - I have a copy of Elephant Man on digital. Mrs & I saw it in first run in theaters. I remember it as very powerful, but I just haven't ever been able to bring myself to watch it again. Maybe it's time.
Gran: Again, glad your birthday feature has returned (being as I proved too incompetent to get to your website every day). Thanks!
Ye gods! I was pouring a cup of coffee when I remembered dreaming that I was visited by Vic and Kate Upton and Vic was yelling at me that there were eight (I specifially remember he said 8 ) characters that the ASCII-izer program didn't fix. I can't remember anything about what Vic looked like, just that voice.
And I'm lying about the Kate Upton part.
The CIA spying on Congress story (as popularized, thanks, Gabe, for better truthiness) didn't really bother me much. The CIA is supposed to spy on the enemy.

Thought I'd say hi before catching up, for a change. Get up, get dressed, tune in to AoSHQ. Just like folks who turn on the tv first thing, right? It's not, like, an unhealthy obsession. Right?
Morning, Glories.

Ace's Heroes
Knee-slapping humor every week as "prisoner" Ace and his faithful Horde outwit their camp masters and support the underground resistance from inside the camp. Laugh as loveable guard Chris Christie trembles and whimpers, "I see nuttin'." Chuckle as camp commandant Eric von Holder's eyes cross every time the Horde pulls a fast one on him.

That Simpsons episode where the family went in for therapy, and they were hooked up to be able to give shocks to each other and ended up bringing down Springfield's power grid? That's what the forum needs.

Carol, sorry to read about Paul's latest turn. Like someone said above, I had been noting no news and hoping it was relatively good news. Jesus, please care for Paul, get him the help he really needs. And spare some angels to comfort Carol Who Cares.

ICYMI:

A little Windows utility I created yesterday that modifies text in the clipboard to (supposedly) make the text AOSHQ broken-comments friendly.
I have had no feedback on this. Vic wrote that it wouldn't do the job, but I don't know if he actually tried it. As the only piece of software I've released in thirty-some years of programming, I've got mixed-bag feelings: One brain says, meh, whatever. The other anxiously wants to know if it worked for someone, or, alternatively, crashed their home network. You can leave comments on the webpage linked above. (You don't need to use the ASCII-izer program to leave a comment on my site, either.)

Good night, Gracies.
Here it is on YouTube. The video on here is better resolution. Can't download from FB, though.
How many Republican Senators are there, again? And how many like Gowdy? Things that make you go, "Hmmmm."
Re: the "energy crisis" illustrations above, I offer some parenting-themed one-panel cartoons, Self-defense for Parents and
Trying to Talk, with Kids.
The latter is more about exasperation than "energy," I suppose, which reminds me of another. This four-panel color cartoon was actually the third webpage, and the second cartoon, that I ever put online; the not-so-easy job of coloring in my open-ended lines was done by our then-14yo daughter. Zoomin' Humans — Dad tries another lesson on sharing and giving with the toddlers.
I thought I would be doing a lot more cartoons about kids when we had our kids. Funny thing about that. It got real busy…! Maybe if God ever grants us grandchildren…?
Thanks, BoB. Not only smile-inducing, but…
"…there’s baseball in heaven! And all of our old buddies who died before us are here! And we’re all young again! And every day is warm and sunny! …"
Sounds like Heaven to me. And reminds us we can, occasionally, enjoy relatively heavenly times on earth.

The ASCII-user program

that doesn't get rid of all the stuff that causes 500 error.

Dangit! Did you try the program? it's supposed to.
Morning, Glories.
for those who cut'n'paste to comments on Ace:
ASCII-izer
With this program, Windows users (and Windows-emulator users mayyybe) who cut & paste and cannot then post sometimes on Ace of Spades may get some relief from submission errors occurring since the server crash of May 12.
How it works: Copy some text to the clipboard. Click on the ASCII-izer program. The text in the clipboard has been corrected. There's more features, but that's the basics. Converts all those pesky quotation marks, apostrophes, long hyphens, ellipses, and other "advanced computer age" characters you're trying to cut'n'paste but which are unacceptable to the last-millennium commenting software on the Ace of Spades blog. A quick'n'dirty one-day hack. Not great, but may work for you. Have mercy, critics!

Misanthropic Humanitarian: "Isn't there 1classmate who said Chicago sucked? Not one? Hell I would've gone to tell them that much"
Ha! I remember teasing a couple of them at the buffet during a break, where I got the impression, just maybe, some of them might have been partaking of some one thing or another. Possibly. Maybe.
But, big brassy hit band sound in the elegant back yard garden party setting of the richy rich? Yeah, I was most especially uncritical to this day. [tips hat to longago memory]
They sucked worse later. ![]()
