Big Brother grabbed a reporter's car in Stranger in a Strange Land. Hardly a new concern. Same techniques, different mode. They can grab you now if they want to.Better not develop cells because NSA might listen in. Better not have cars at all because cops can read license plates... whut? c'mon!

I've pondered transport automation for forty years - it was part of my never-completed college thesis on the coming age of computers and how they would affect work, education, travel, and government.

I'm softer on automation than I was in my youth, but I wouldn't mind not having to pay attention on a long Interstate trip.

If it developed naturally, we could have another great advance in transport. But it won't happen right with Big Gov involved; Ford would have sold ten cars.

Much more fun than the college thesis was the month I spent last year creating a cartoonish collage with those long-pondered ideas. Here's the series. Not a quick or casual read, though.

In the contest for Coburn's US Senate seat, I was already leaning toward TJ Shannon pretty heavily, when I got a text from the campaign of James Lankford, the next best thing. Uh, no. I don't even like them from the phone co. Wife, daughter & I all got the text, and concurred that It just reinforced our votes for Shannon.

If we'd had more of this TEA Party type Republican back in the day, I might never have flirted with Libertarians. I pray the Republican reformation accelerates.

Re: Pixy & Ace: For all that commenters endure, normally, and in reduced facility over the years, and currently post-crash, the bloggers themselves are apparently unaffected (unless they comment, I suppose). To paraphrase Lily Tomlin, Ace doesn't care; he doesn't have to. He can still do what he set out to do. Except maybe when he locks himself out.

I'm not sure offshore servers provide much insurance if They exert control over the reins (DNS, routing), but at least it wouldn't be as vulnerable as the blog would be based on some service like blogspot, where any goober techie could pull the plug because shut up. So, Pixy, Best to you.

I did figure out how to get my cutom home-rolled AoSHQ-reading program to work around the 1080 refresh. Helps me find replies I missed.

There's a part of my program I've been thinking that I could pull out to make an ASCII-izing program for commenters here during the Pixy Crash Crisis, but it would only run on Windows, and I don't know how quickly I could knock out a public-ready version. Less than #twoweeks, though, probably.

Yestermorn, I was hanging out here when my muse moved me to compose one of the little amusing (at least, I hope) theological water-balloons I sometimes lob at the threads.

Well, darned if my muse isn't a runaway steed! Paragraphs kept getting added. I eventually moved out of the comment composition box to a text file, lest I accidentally post it or, as so often happens, lose everything I'd written in the browser.

Before it was over, I had created not just a multimedia web page but a video playlist to accompany it.

So, that's where I disappeared to yesterday. I knew you'd be wondering. Lucky y'all, it kept me from cluttering the thread.

Oh, in case anybody was curious... (Muldoon, if that other one was a long run for a short slide, this one is a 5K run-up...!)

One more step in the creation of The Land of the Red Man, the greatest of the United States. And they were exactly that, civilized.

That history lives here. The tribe's names are the main streets of the town, as Dad so long ago proudly taught me. A branch of the end of the Trail of Tears goes across our ranch, marked by a double row of trees, and we sometimes get visitors to the Cherokee graveyard here. I like tuning in to the Cherokee worhip services on Sunday morning radio. "Ho ta hay ha ho Jesus ha nah wah..." Pardon the pidgen Cherokee, I don't speak it. But I love to hear it.

The price was terrible, and damage persists, but from one of the greatest evils done to fellow Americans, God blessed the Cherokee and the Osage, and the rest, that their children live in a beautiful, strong, thriving state, and have effectively merged with the newcomers without losing their heritage. All who followed are blessed to have them here.

Casinos notwithstanding. (I miss the simpler days when their revenge on the whites was just the tax-free tobacco shops.)

This land will regain it's glory, never doubt.

Because there are enough of us, including those not yet born to see to that.
