Of course, it's supposed to be

"Here's they're new plan."

Sheesh!!

not sure I should ask

What, Shoot a blue bean? I… I just assumed, same as, you know, “oh, shoot,” or “Sheesh!” or “Shut my mouth!” or “Shinola.” Right? @@

Know what? Trying to be clean in one’s lingo — as if thoughts matter — saying “Oh, Heavens!” instead of the other place, or “Bless it!” instead of condemnation, and, especially, saying the Lord’s name but meaning it… is no easy task when you’ve practiced as hard as um, er, as hard as some folks have practiced cussing.

First of all, you get weird looks because you sound like some Mennonite church lady…

(Happy to hasten to add, some of the nicest, hardest working, most devout people I know are Mennonite. And I’m pretty sure if they swear, it’s damn well appropriate. Oops.)

--If we were harsher on the dealers the drug war would be won -Navycopjoe

wow. it's a good thing I already have developed such great respect for NCJ, 'cause this won't be my only image of him.

It's a hard issue, especially if you've seen what drugs, and alcohol, can do, but emotionally-driven 'thinking' is the tool of the regressive. Faith-led reason must rule.

Here: the mindful primer on thinking like an American about vice laws, oldest to newest:

Repeal! and

The so-called war on drugs is utterly unwinnable and in its very conception perverts the purposes of good government.

(These letters to the local paper got me the attention of the local D.A. Talk about concerning! For my then-young kids' sake, I quit writing the paper.)

Theological insight for the day.

Angels don't really have big, flappy, feathered wings.

That was just the mis-impression some folks had when privileged to witness the energy field surrounding a Transport Seraphim preparing for enseraphiming her passenger. A simple, understandable mistake any pre-scientific person might make.

But, if it's important to your faith to believe angels have wings, just ignore me. It's not crucial to your ultimate destiny.

I deleted the paragraph about hardware exceptions, but they have happened. Thing is, even with a bit failure in high mem, hardware tends to make its problem known rather clearly. Software always pretends to be obeying you.

"Drugs are bad, mkay? Just like so many other things on this planet, people who pursue an easy way out find there's a price to pay." -Burt goes all out

Remember this folks. Want a beer? Like to relax in the evening with a pipeful of tobac? THERE'S A PRICE TO PAY FOR YOUR EVILS because DRUGS B BAD!

Not abuse, not mis-use, just drugs, per se. All drugs, no matter what. (And whatever we say is a 'drug.') Let's make war on the users and holders and sellers.

Just. Like. Guns.

LOL

How many times, in 35 years of programming have I thought the computer was acting inconsistently? Uncountable. How many times was it actually doing just what I had told it? Every single time.

Hey, as a programmer, never paid, but hard experienced, I respect Pixy's creation, the maintenance and repair effort required. But, you know, the other main blog I visit is in one of those off the shelf blog groups, but I can hit a button to see all new replies to me, comments are threaded, topics don't die when a new one comes along, links are embedded... I'm not saying AoSHQ has to permit embedded videos, but it is kind of sad not to have some nice things. Live links at the very least.

Only #twoweeks to go until we at least have no more :1080 redirect messing up my Ace blog reader utility.

I should add this is some Christianish thing of dream interpretation. A religious Coast to Coast. I turned it off halfway through. But I can give you the gist of the message: stock up today; the SMODlets are a-comin', the SMODlets are a-comin'.

We've had overcast the past several meteor storms. I could use some celestial pretty. But there's storms of the cloudy kind predicted for the whole weekend.

Thank you, bob.

Some day, I hope to upgrade from my old stone-age desktop to a computer that can actually handle making a two-minute video without crashing the editing program twelve times. I exaggerate. It was only eight. With two system reboots, at least. Dancing bear.

“Sometimes Pragmatism Trumps Principle”?

Didn’t actually click through, so, I’m replying just based on that one sentence, but I have to ask:

Then what value is principle?

If a higher principle can trump a lower, that I can certainly understand (principle of defense, especially of others, trumps principle of not killing, for a simplistic example), but abandoning principle to win never seems, well, principled. It’s compromising with evil, isn’t it? (Which diabolical pact, like “reaching across the aisle” means one side does all the “compromising.” Hence, the term, “compromised.”)

This is a debate I see a lot about the Tea Party, the Republicans, the RINOs, and what it takes to “win.” The folks who want to go along to get along don’t seem to listen too well to the history (e.g. Reagan) of standing up for principle and how it actually wins big. “Don’t sound like one of what McCain called kooks” they take as a serious consideration.

I was as glad as anybody to hear Dr. Carson spoil Obama’s digestion at the prayer dinner, and I admire Carson’s story, naturally, but politically he’s been willing to “bend” principle on the 2nd Amendment as well, so I can’t give him more than about a 5 out of a possible 9.

I will grant, though, that perhaps, unlike most people, he just might be educable. (For some reason, I am reminded of of Jesus telling the Scribe, you’re not far from the truth.)

“…she’d cuss in ‘grannyspeak’,which is cussing without the good swear words because there were little kids around.”

Woman who used to care for my little sister would say, “Well, shoot a blue bean.” That was so funny to us. It was years before I realized that was, well, grannyspeak for something else.

I have also been surprised at Famous Gun Rights Author's emotionalism in debates the past few days, fwiw, and concur that Tant (with the hoot of a nic tag) mostly wins on appearances of civil and reasonable discourse, debate points aside. Famous Author isn't being socked, right? This is not a troll? Baldilocks said it well.

Actually, enjoyed the discussion today, a few rants notwithstanding.
