Wow, I thought we were stuck in the last thread forever. I was going to write a tl;dr, long time ago, and even that wouldn't have worked.

But at least we have inspiring content!

For those who didn't read every last syllable of the last thread, I dood a new vid, "Angry Leaders," linked in nick, sorta derived from Ace's headline on "mad/madder" than hell comments. Two sentences turned into two minutes of video.

So, now that His Own Self is talking about it, am I going to have to re-do my video?

Still just this post up top?

I did a little vid. Not my proudest, but it is what it are. Concerns reactions of our "leaders" to the VA horrors, but not really about the horrors per se. More or less inspired by Ace's post but don't blame him. The vid is an educational example of how to take two little tiny quotes and pad them out into an almost two-minute video. Kind-of like what Ace does in articles.

Morning, Glories.

Thanks for all the depressing news. This is more Monday than the last two days!

And I got nothin' to add.

After I feed the pesks and head into town, I might have a new video. Or I might have a locked-up machine. My old computer guru said any computer can do the job of any other computer, it just takes longer. But we weren't editing videos in those days.

Speaking of pointless wastes of time: our daughter had fallen years behind on Dr Who, so over many months, we watched them with her until, last night, we finally got caught up, watching the two most recent episodes which mrs & I had held off watching 'til then. It's a goofy self-indulgence, but a fun experience to have shared. Now what will I do with all the time I'll have? Not watch other tv, I think.

L8r, rebels.

I remember once in the 1970s, sitting in the then-new Pizza Hut in the old home town. Nice-looking business-suited black man and similarly-tastefully-attired woman walk in.

And in his 'fro was stuck one of those pick-combs with the long sharp knifepoint handle.

This struck me for a number of reasons.

Fashion-wise, it completely clashed with his Sunday-duds ensemble. It stuck out. Literally.

Personally, I once (1970s, ok?) briefly had 'fro-like hairstyle and had a hair pick, too - but I didn't wear it in my hair. It was a style then, but, like baggy pants dumb; looked like you got distracted while combing; reminded me of a mad version of those peacock haircombs worn by fancy senoritas.

But the knifepoint handle said, unconcealed weapon. Maybe it was his streetcred totem, a cultural security blanket. He didn't seem, you know, threatening. But there it was. He chose to make that statement. It was threatening. Just like the gun on a cop's hip.

Somehow, we ate our pizza in peace and departed without incident. But it was a close thing, and as you can see, I've never forgotten.

I drove my tank to the Sonic, but the manager said I had to leave. The turret ripping through the overhangs was making other customers nervous. Gave me a free order of Cheese Tots and a limeade, though, so, no hard feelings.

SOMEbody carelessly left some yard tools on the front porch, and a few minutes ago, they fell over. Which was odd, because even though they were improperly stored, and it's pretty breezy, the clatter didn't sound like the wind had done it.

So I put on my shoes and went out to check. I saw the dog walking away, and then I saw, under the shovel, a big ball of fur. First glance was to make sure it wasn't one of the cats. Second glance was more nervous, because, it wasn't one of the cats, it was a possum. (Opossum for some of you.)

It sure looked dead. I thought, maybe the dog had nailed it; wouldn't be his first. No response to nudging, but you know, possum.

Took the shovel off of him and used it to flip him over so I could get a good look at him. He was a big guy, bigger than our biggest cat. I was kind-of glad he was dead, but of course I was going to have to figure out what to do with a big possum corpse in the middle of the night. He laid there, unmoving, tongue lolling out.

Started to maneuver him into the scoop of the shovel when he woke up, or decided he'd had enough, got up, and sauntered off into the dark.

Hallelujah! It's a miracle. I didn't have to dig another hole tomorrow, and I could take off my shoes and go back to bed.

Yeah, wasn't all that exciting; but, stimulating.

Gonna pour me a glass of wine - strictly for medicinal purposes - and be back in a minute to tell you why. Don't wait up. It's not that much of a story.

Time to escape my cell and do things like as if it were Monday morning.

1. Love God
1a. Love one another

Tough love commandment.

Thinking of changing several things on our family cell plan, and dumping AT&T its on the possibilities list.

So, if not AT&T... Who?

"We're the phone company. We don't care; we don't have to." More true than before we killed the beast the first time!

"Saving the file with utf-8 and reopening and attempting to post quote was still a fail."

Ok, diff format? Sorry. Not at the desktop, can't check the choices, but I thought I recalled getting a Notepad warning that 'you will lose characters if you save,' when the doc had high-end material and I tried to save in the low-end format. You lose the characters, of course; they're not replaced.

What you really need is my handy dandy utility which corrects all those fancy-pants apostrophes and quotes to plain ASCII. Alas, said utility program its not ready for public release, and the way I program never will be.

Because I've got nothing new, re-posting my own comment from early in the ONT:

Heard Rush (rerun) on the way home. Apparently, John F'ing Kerry says that the official US position is that because the Nigerian government banned gay marriage, Boko Haram is an oppressed minority which is just protesting their oppressive oppressedness by standing in the way of those girls' education.

Apparently, Boko Haram are not terrorists, but a much-maligned, oppressed community of armed hairdressers and interior decorators, fighting for homosexual rights or something.

I ... think I got that sorta-mostly right. I might have just imagined the hairdressers and interior decorators part.

"even washed through notepad it triggered a 500 error."

What do you mean washed? Notepad can handle the higher characters. You have to save (in uhhhh utf8? format?) and re-load the doc to flush out the modern bits and leave only Golden Age characters. I think. Don't sue me if I'm wrong (ref ONT discussion of giving medical advice on here).

"All bullshit charges to get Henry VIII another wife...."

I was raised in the Episcopal Church. Origins thereof have never been a point of pride.

Good day to watch Man for All Seasons again.

First saw it in original theater run. One of the most visually lush screen experiences I'd ever encountered, great story and acting aside. Immersive experience. Only comparison I can think of offhand is that '78 Malick film Days of Heaven. Maybe 2001, but harder to compare. I'll leave further film notes to the local cinema buffs.

The black cat is a yellow-eyed short-hair female; the black dragon in the How to Train cartoon was probably modeled on a cat just like this one.

Her name is Onyxia. Don't ask me. It was my son's choice; son dumped Ony on us after he left college. Because we didn't already have a houseful of strays! She was kind-of mopey until the day kitteh Charlie showed up, and they've played and chased and been as close as siblings since, even after Charlie quit being a kitten.

So, the past couple of nights, Ony has slipped out the door in the late evening, and won't come back in. Then, like this morning, at 4:30 or so, she shows up mewing at the door.

Yestermorn I went back to bed after letting her in. This morning, well... here I am.
