Thank you for contacting the United States of America.

We regret to say that we are currently out of order and unable to assist you. We apologize for any inconvenience.

We are working on getting the United States back in working order as soon as possible. In the meantime, while on hold, enjoy a compendium of the speeches of Ronald Reagan.

Didn't see the last Trek flick, and chances are slim I ever will.

Didn't read whatever article folks are talking about.

But I gather a question was Kahn's ethnicity?

Kahn in TOS was from India, and I always presumed he & his were supposed to be of the ancient Aryan lines, which were white-ish. (I'll self-denounce for my ray sism later.) That's my impression of fifty years, anyway.

And it was the reason Ricardo Montlebahhhhhn was born. Perfect casting. Bringing him back was the second-greatest thing they could have done in the movies.

Or greatest, I guess, since I think the guy who played Mudd was deceased.

I prefer to think off it as Great Minds think alike. Or, don't throw out a good idea just because Texans are doing it.

How're Houston & Austin working out for you? Thanks for being betwixt us & the border, BTW. You can keep that one.

« Woman Beating Obama Donor Gets Fired »

Before I click .. guessing,

Alas, this is not about a woman putting a beat-down on an Obama donor, is it?

If an Organ Donor gives away his organs...

Can America become an Obama Donor?

Oklahoma House Seeks To Impeach Half Of Their State Supreme Court

First I've heard of this. Thanks. (I really need to keep up on state news.)

Jazz Shaw at Warm Gas asks, impeachment "seems rather contrary to the entire concept of the separation of the powers of the three branches. What do you think?" (Hope HA won't mind if I answer here.)

Click through to Red (Communists?) State article, a NewsOK article, quoting Republican state Rep. Mike Christian that the five justices engaged in a "willful neglect of duty" when they granted stays of execution.

RS » The Guardian (!) » Gov Fallin says, the state supreme court acted "outside the constitutional authority" of its mandate.

With only what little I've read, seems t'me this is exactly why we have powers separated.

If it seems to some judges that heinous murderers should not be executed timely, because their sleeping potions' suppliers aren't public knowledge, and the People don't give a crap about that, they just want these suckers daid, then, yes, you get rid of the nuts in the robes. This is not a problem.

Next?

...Japan's diplomate Sugihara, I assume. -J.J. Sefton

Yup. I'd never heard of this.

He didn't know if he'd actually saved anyone until 1968! We don't take such actions for reward, but, y'know, it's nice to have feedback.

«There are now approximately one hundred thousand "Descendants of Sugihara." »

Morning, Glories!

I've read up to Poppin's H'wood tale, but before I refresh my coffee and read of our moral superiors in theatre... and comments beyond...

I just finished reading this article, linked to on the ONT by GnuBreed. It case it hasn't been mentioned:

«Another Holocaust remembrance story, about the 'Japanese Schindler' via Tammy Bruce:
http://tinyurl.com/luzg58w »

I never knew about this.

As always, the scale defies belief. And every death was one individual just like this one who lived:
«The woman bent down, and kissed the hem of my mother's dress. "You saved us," she said.»

And yet...

«My mother looked at me with a terrible sadness that I will always remember. If she had really believed the man, she said, she could have sold her wedding ring, to save others.»

I think the most telling line must be this all too frequent view:

«Everyone was shocked. Surely, this man was exaggerating. Maybe even crazy. Germany — the most cultured of countries — How could this be?»

So, at least, it could never happen here....

I teased about the ballet Arvola's Dracula.

Watching the matinee today. I thought...

there's a hot blond, a hot brunette, and a hot redhead, all dressed in red, cavorting. Wild dancing gals. Lots of villagers drinking to excess. And a chicken.

Seemed .. strangely... familiar....

Long day ends here
Long week. need a fresh one.

good night Gracies.

A seemingly infinite multitude of ways, certainly.

...a look at her Facebook account showed Sanford had taken pictures of herself and posted them while driving. Investigators also said Sanford wrote, "The happy song makes me HAPPY..."

But not really all that mysterious.

1981 must have been about the time my computer guru related his technique for dealing with a faulty mouse.

Involved
1. grasping the plug end firmly
2. lifting the mouse by its tail
3. swinging it rapidly in a circle, and
4. smashing it into a nearby wall.
5. Then buy a new one.

I think I was thinking of the guy on the Titanic (supposedly).

Seemed t'recall Ghaddafi was caught dressed in burka, so I looked in Wikipeed.

First, how many re-directs must they have for variant spellings of Kahdaffy?

But, I couldn't find anything about his capture or death. and the longer I stayed reading the dirtier I felt. At least it did mention bad things 'rumored' about him as well as his accomplishments and awards...!

On the way home last night, in a moment of masochistic madness, I tuned in to the on-the-half-hour news report. Fox.

First story, I tuned in a bit late. Big storm, big storm. Some state they did not mention again while I was listening. Anywhere, Earth.

Second story, Prez in Japan but concerned, concerned about Ukraine, calling European leaders, trying to figure out what to do. Serious, you guys.

That was it. That was "the news."

Don't know why our local talk radio stations carry Fox and ABC. Obama ads sandwiched in to Rush and Levin. Whut?

mmmmm. pancakes.

Here's the recipe I just followed.

0. Be inspired by talk of pancakes here.

1. Take two leftover pancakes out of fridge.
2. Wrap in paper towel, nuke 40 sec
3. Add generous quantities of butter and maple syrup.

4. Pick pieces of paper towel out of mouth.
5. Cat sneezes over plate.
6. Touchscreen keyboard is syrup-sticky.

Just kidding about #4.

"1945 – World War II: Benito Mussolini is arrested by Italian partisans in Dongo, while attempting escape disguised as a German soldier."

Bet that felt good.

Like looking down in a hole and seeing Saddam's face must have felt.

"...some guy decided to carry openly in a kiddie park, a park that used to have a sign saying No Firearms - just walk among the kids strapped..."

That sounds so funny to those who think, "Yeah, so?"

Down here in Oklahoma, wasn't that long ago (to this ol' phart) that pretty much any man, and many a woman, would feel naked without a sidearm or longarm within reach. In fact, my neighbor doesn't go out on the rider mower to the edges of the wild, without his pistol because rattlers, among other targets. A rabid skunk or sick coyote is rare, but not rare enough. It's not like overbearing government agents and other criminal thugs are the only threat. Country life.

City-fication is a mental disease: Maybe Doc - Carlson? Carson? prayer breakfast scold-Obama dude - maybe he's right about gun rights voided in urban areas, 'cause, practically by definition, you have to be crazy to live there.... (jokes the guy who lived 14 years in Chicago).

Not that carryin' folks won't use 'em on each other, of course, as I'm always reminded by the grave here on our farm - young punk died in an angry shoot-out back in the olde dayes. Classic story. I'll have to track down my grandfather's telling and post it some morning.
