We had just moved the family to Oklahoma from Chicago one year before. Our neighbor asked had I heard about the explosion in OKC? I tuned in to TV; Tulsa channel was carrying OKC channel.

I remember, right at the first, the sketches of John Doe the Iraqi. The reports of multiple bombs still in the building. The latter may have been fog of war, the former...?

And the babies...!

I do remember, after watching the news a while, walking out and looking up at that beautiful blue Oklahoma morning sky, so like today, just wondering that anyone would do this.

One consideration for our relocation was, we were living in a Major Target City and I had a funny feeling the WTC bombing was just a beginning. Then the worst terrorist attack to date happens 90 miles down the road. Felt a little like that Hiroshima survivor who thought the mushroom cloud had followed him home to Nagasaki.

That friend of McVeigh's who knew but didn't tell? I still wonder if he knows more than he's told. Or, anyway, than we know about. There are mysteries....

Hahaha, New post just as Vic finishes the links on the ONT. More effective than a tl;dr!

If only modern technology offered some way for things to be more scheduled, or better communicated. But then, AoSHQ would lose some of its "charm."

Here, I'll bring on a new thread.

This was the saddest day on earth. Jesus was dead. There was no question about it. The Romans were experts, and everybody knew it. He was dead, thoroughly dead, in the most public possible way.

Absolutely everyone knew without question that he was dead.

The crucified might take lingering days to die. Because of the holidays, the Romans dispatched the three crucified early with a sword up under the ribs into the heart.

Except one of them, unusually, was already dead. But they put the sword into his heart to be sure. We know they pieced his heart by report of the draining of that clear liquid, I forget what it's called, that surrounds the heart.

You don't get deader than Romans made you.

Jesus was dead, that one thing was certain.

android pens?

If you mean a stylus, they can help. My son got me one when we moved to the new cells. I wore it out pretty fast. Hard to justify laying out cash for another special q-tip.

It's a beautiful dawn, with fog lifting off the pastures, the long shadows, hazy sky, birds chorusing, pets wandering. Thankfulness inducing.

On this touchscreen, sometimes an unintentional tap when trying to swipe causes the window to resize and end up on some random part of the thread, which on long threads can be really annoying trying to find my place again.

Just had that happen three times, gave up and started reading the thread, from the bottom up.

So..

As we humble ourselves before the Almighty Pageant which we celebrate this weekend, I think Morons especially should recall the wedding host who stood up and made a speech about how great, and unusual, it was that they'd saved the better wine for last.

Let's face it, is there anything in religion quite like Mary weaseling Jesus into supplying some booze? At first he was all, what's that got to do with me? And then she started crying, and, well, you know, moms, tears, devoted Jewish son, next thing you know, there's wine. I can imagine he even surprised himself, because it seems like, after that one, he kept a cautious check on his superpowers, and some distancing from the family influence.

But the thing is, the important thing is, it was the good stuff!

Spank my face and call me Red, Ace did the ONT? I thought after the last time, Rules had been set. Of course, Ace and Rules, it's like TFG and Laws....

I wasn't going to check the damages until the morning, and yet, I weakened, peeked in, and... it seems... two hours in, the site is not going into total meltdown.

Talk about your disturbances in the force. Mid-April is just full of the unusual.

The earlier quotes at 139 & 174 were from the Urantia Papers, I should mention, linked in the nic on those comments. My brother first pressed The Urantia Book upon me and my best friend over forty years ago. At the time, we were the only people we knew who had ever heard of it. I enjoy it, but I'm the kind of oddball who wakes his wife up at night laughing out loud reading Moby Dick.

My nic on this comment links to a comic I did a year ago, looooosely based on the Urantia Papers' descriptions of Easter week. Note that I let it simmer a year before mentioning it among this nest of opinions. The comic might be like those later Harry Potter movies, a/k/a "scenes similar to some in the books," where if you're not familiar with the source, you won't get some of it, but I try for generally enjoyable regardless. It's the basic Easter week story as alt universe SF where they had tv and cell phones in 30AD.

And now, for true, adieu.

For contrast of character, and because I couldn't just leave it at Judas, not today. Have a good day, friends, I'm heading out into it.

_____

When Jesus was arrested, he knew that his work on earth, in the likeness of mortal flesh, was finished. He fully understood the sort of death he would die, and he was little concerned with the details of his so-called trials.

Before the Sanhedrist court Jesus declined to make replies to the testimony of perjured witnesses. There was but one question which would always elicit an answer, whether asked by friend or foe, and that was the one concerning the nature and divinity of his mission on earth. When asked if he were the Son of God, he unfailingly made reply. He steadfastly refused to speak when in the presence of the curious and wicked Herod. Before Pilate he spoke only when he thought that Pilate or some other sincere person might be helped to a better knowledge of the truth by what he said. Jesus had taught his apostles the uselessness of casting their pearls before swine, and he now dared to practice what he had taught. His conduct at this time exemplified the patient submission of the human nature coupled with the majestic silence and solemn dignity of the divine nature....

Just because he reminds me of so many today, especially those in public life:

__________

As Judas left the Sanhedrin chamber, he removed the thirty pieces of silver from the bag and threw them broadcast over the temple floor. When the betrayer left the temple, he was almost beside himself. Judas was now passing through the experience of the realization of the true nature of sin. All the glamor, fascination, and intoxication of wrongdoing had vanished. Now the evildoer stood alone and face to face with the judgment verdict of his disillusioned and disappointed soul. Sin was bewitching and adventurous in the committing, but now must the harvest of the naked and unromantic facts be faced.

This onetime ambassador of the kingdom of heaven on earth now walked through the streets of Jerusalem, forsaken and alone. His despair was desperate and well-nigh absolute. On he journeyed through the city and outside the walls, on down into the terrible solitude of the valley of Hinnom, where he climbed up the steep rocks and, taking the girdle of his cloak, fastened one end to a small tree, tied the other about his neck, and cast himself over the precipice. Ere he was dead, the knot which his nervous hands had tied gave way, and the betrayer's body was dashed to pieces as it fell on the jagged rocks below.

This ONT is very much of the enjoyable and I would like to subscribe to your platinum subscription newsletter.

Greatly enjoyed the post, but I must admit, I did not watch the Talent video. Partly because I figured the stillframe showed me all I needed to know and mostly that I had just watched hot Gramma salsa dancing and I didn't want to ruin the lingering mood.

Er.. That's hot salsa dancing, not hot Gramma, although she does have some gams!
