Mindful webworker, in regard to your question, As long as 'meter' means 'monitor' rather than 'regulate,' no problem, I live in CA and they send you this detailed usage report telling you how you compare to your neighbors and then give you many different ways you can save the world if you do this or that. My dad lived in GA and before his death I was there and the conversation came around to the fact that the energy company had the ability to shut down sections of town's air conditioners during peek hours, thus saving the world. That right there is control.

one more tl
regarding amygdala, brain size, will power
(excluding statistically small # of cases where tumor or bad wiring physically hampers will)
it may be natively harder for those who can "handle ambiguity" to reason and choose wisely, but every normal brain is imminently trainable. A smaller mind raised in a righteous environment will reason more clearly than a clever mind trained wrongly. ("It's that so much of what they do know is wrong!" -RR)
As my electronics guru put it back before PC's were popular, any computer can do the job of any other computer, it just takes longer.
In dealing with the differently-wired, there's a "language" barrier. One has to figure out how to put reasonable concepts into the emotional hearing range, without loads of imaginary noise, prejudicial misperceptions, being interpolated. It can be done. Misguidance can be corrected. Takes more patience and understanding than I can usually muster, but minds can be enlightened.

Being from a different planet where I didn't get taught about the Evil Jew, in fact, in such a 1950s WASP environment that about all I knew of Jews as a kid was as Jesus' people, and the prime victims of the Nazi Holocaust, and despite what I have since learned of the woeful history of prejudice against the Jews, it still astonishes me, the rapidity, the glib ease with which this comes out among allegedly civilized modern people.
Happy Easter.
I got in the last word on smart meters in the last thread.

And by last word, I mean, typically, posting a tl;dr after the cattle call came for this post.
Smart meters which transmit the data which they used to send guys tramping into my yard to get? Benefits all around! Actually, I like chatting with our meter readers, but we're rural. There are even advantages to people coming 'round, like they sniff the meter for leaks every time. But on the whole, remote reading makes sense.
One big problem with any electronic gimcrackery is that a fail electronically can be more trouble to fix or work around than a mechanical failure. Think car windows under water. A broken mechanical meter, you may only lose count of zots used. A broken electronic meter may cut you off. All In the design. But it won't be optimal.

As long as 'meter' means 'monitor' rather than 'regulate,' no problem, really.
When the smarter thermostats and meters of tomorrow are under Greenazi Central Control, that's a different story.
After a couple cups of coffee, some pancakes, a morning post, and getting closer to 200 comments... I'm almost up for clicking on the infamous selfie. Almost.

Morning, Glories. Always good to see they haven't come for AoSHQ... yet.
A manic bird nearby who doesn't realize it's night
A dog who chooses a night we get home really late to forget what "come inside!" means
Dragging him across the yard by the collar in the middle of the night in my bathrobe.
How he got in my bathrobe I'll never know.
Stupid bird.
All part of the fun when I want to get up in.. ooh, let's see.. four hours?
Thank you for letting me overshare.
Good night, Gracies.

Afterthought...
The only time I worried about the nuclear plant we once had in Oklahoma was when I heard a welder who was working on it talking about being down in the pipes getting high. Had to hope he was one of those who got focused on weed rather than distracted!
Wonder whatever happened to our Okla nuke. We could always use a good backup to all the hydro and nat. gas.

"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God."
Mark, quoted back always by blaster
Fun Fack
"The eye of the needle" makes it sound impossible to folks who don't know the context. However, Jesus' listeners would know that he was talking about a small defensive gate into the city where you had to get off your camel and take all your goods off the camel to get through. (Like getting past the TSA at airports....) It was called the Needle's Eye. So, not impossible, more like, "you can't take it with you."

Eating pot causes murder? No. Pot may exacerbate psychosis, but likely only by a hairsbreadth in an already extremely unstable mind. A bad argument, a shot of tequila, "a bit of underdone meat" could just as readily have been the trigger-pull.
We will see more of these "pot did it" claims as legalization continues apace, and some damage will be done by those who... can't handle pot? (I'm sorry, but while I even know some folks who can't, it just sounds so silly.) It will become a real dilemma for the Commie Puritans who used pot=harmless as a wedge issue. Which will be the time to break out the hashish-sprinkled popcorn!
caught up to my own #195.
Glad to see the thoroughgoing dismantling by so many of Gotti's 'Bundy wasn't innocent' statement. Would almost like to collect them, as it tells so much about this situation.
Which Harry Reid declares is not over, and I think this one time we can take him at his word.
Can't believe there's so much snark about the Romney tweet. Even staged. which I question, it's a great and richly-deserved slap at the Searchlight Stalker. Let it just be that. Then we'll take on RINO Romney as he endorses fellow RINOs through the election year... alas... siiigh.
Urf! Got a late start this morning. At least I'm dressed, pets are fed, and I have coffee.
Morning, Glories! I've got a little secret to pass along.Ready? Here goes: The Father-Creator of the universe loves you as his own child. Shhh. Don't tell anybody else, k?
"Well, it's not over. We can't have an American people that violate the law and then just walk away from it. So it's not over," Reid said.
These people. Always projecting! Listen to them. Watch for it. It's incredible. ALWAYS PROJECTING. They're telling you exactly what they're doing all the time.
I wonder whether it's conscious. But I don't really care. I just want them to be out of power.

Good evening, folks. Just barging through on my way to the buffet. Once I hit that, I'll check what's in the ONT below the fold, read some comments, pass out in the corner, and wonder how I got there. I've got it all planned.

"...why should the Federal Government know what I'm buying and who/where I'm buying it from?"
@JohnTant
John, I wasn't clear if you were arguing the privacy of sales tax here, but couldn't be worse than income tax.
Locally, businesses collect sales tax, send it to the state, which parses it back to the city. It's the state that grants sales tax licenses.
If businesses collect sales tax, pass that along to county and city, city sends the portion to county, county to state, states to Fed.... I see advantages... licensing could be local, accompanying, e.g. business licence. If the Fed has the sales license power, or payment are made to the Fed... I see problems...
I r no geenyess like our gummint, tho, so all I know is that I dont know nothin'.
Okay, fine, everybody just ignore the weird little webworker dude and maybe he'll go away.
