"Taking back the schools is going to be difficult."

Just as the Laughingstock Media are dinosaurs dying in the Web age, so are the very institutions of "public schools" doomed to be replaced by what is growing out of the "home-schooling" movement. You know it's a good thing 'cause They are against it.

Increasingly, networks of parents team for "school" purposes, including sports. We had none of that when we were home-schooling our three. Again, small but hopefulness-inducing signs.

And then, there's the theology wars...

I saw the Subhuman Morongrels open for Ted Nugent...

Waitaminnit. Not only is that not funny, it's probably already been done to death.... except the clever moron part.

Smilin' Jack — pretty good list.

That 1958 / NEA gets me.

My grade school education — happening at that time — was under the Olde ways, and the education I received has served me superbly for a lifetime.

I was in Jr High when they rolled out New Math, and I could tell what they were trying to do, but also could see that I got it as well as I did because I already had such a good grounding in the old math.

New Math was the first major, noticable "new" technique.

I pitied the next generation. I lived through the beginnings of the demise of decent education.

OTOH, I have also witnessed the growth of the new Constitutionalism, the reawakening of the Spirit of '76, among what had become a mostly placid, somnabulent citizenry. Long way to go to overcome the 20th Century's depredations, but I am encouraged. Even about upcoming generation.

The war is far from won, but less lost than some fear.

& that's my tl;dr 4 2day.

Dakota Fanning (20 today)

Wasn't she a cute child in a popular commercial, like, just a couple years ago?

Time is accelerating, I'm pretty sure.

Let's work on that response time, Andy. I'm sure we can get it under 3min.

Energy sources...

Hydro is about as clean and efficient as it gets, isn't it? Direct natural gravity-fed forces converted directly to usable electricity. And I don't think hydro quite does to fish what windmills do to birds.

(I'm just cleaning up a dirty nic. waiting for morning thread —the words are superfluous.

Daughter said she needs to practice shimmying for her role as Romani in the local ballet company's Spring production, Dracula.

So I searched YouTube for "shimmy." Skipping the first something or other, I found this for her.

Good evening, festive text-people.

Imagine I here looked up and linked back to my compost comment in a prev garden thread. Bodies were not explicitly mentioned, just "meat"....

Milady & I have diff attitudes re compost. She prefers bins, requiring turning, etc. I'm attracted to bury once and give nature time.

So since we can't agree, we just leave all the compost in bags stuffed in a back room. While it's been cold, this has not been a problem....

JJ - sigh! not only am I blind, I even did a word search to be sure yet still didn't catch it. Typo'd my search term, maybe. Sheesh!

Kind of thing makes me wonder if reality isn't more subjective than its supposed to be. But then I realize, no, it's just me.

Don Pardo bdy.

Just having Don Pardo as the announcer, right from the start, was one of the funniest things SNL ever did.

Sad to say.

But, do we want to even think about any kind of military engagement, when Benghazi Barry is still CiC?

Talk about a Catch-22!
