wnyers - Heh. For a moment. I kept trying to figure out what that was a typo for.

Did everyone go for coffee (and/or another drink), or is everybody just all anxiously poised and watching to jump on First on the morning thread? ![]()
"And he was right - about a week ago, I woke up in the middle of the night with a 'holy shit, THAT's how the book ends!' brainstorm, and I've been writing ever since." -MPPPP
That's the blushing Stan Lee twist? (Was you used that line, right?)
There is that thing of "math anxiety" - apparently the brain cells that would do numbers get choked by - or their CPU is totally tied up by - anxiety about getting the answer. I can imagine much of creativity being blocked by anxiety like that, and removing the writer's block is darn near non-Biden literally what the relief does, whatever it takes to relieve the dread, chemistry, psychology, or faith..
"Fear not!" - it's not just a good idea ... it's the commandment of the Son of God! And he knew he was not asking of us an easy thing by telling us to "Be of good cheer." What. A. Taskmaster! ![]()
Er... divide 11 into 12. But you knew I meant that.
And does "not counting bad brain-chem will-killers" seem as muddy to you as it does to me in re-reading? Trying to be concise sometimes makes for inscrutible phraseology.
Maybe I should just go back to bed & start over.
Good morning. I was thrown out of bed at 4:30, so what else is there to do but catch up on the ONT.
Regarding trying to save others (not counting bad brain-chem will-killers):
We are God's voice to some, and sometimes our apostleship reaches the listener, but it's the listener's choice to listen. Or not. God gave us relative free will and will not violate it Himself, so it's unlikely we can.
The very Son of God himself only had an 91.6%* success rate among his own closest associates. Most folks don't blame Jesus for Judas's choices or think the perfect One could have done more.
*Yes, I actually pulled up the calculator to divide 11 by 12. I'm so ashamed.

Well, I guess it's confirmed then.

I was waiting for this.
Didn't know Joffen.
But I remember when I came on board and saw his handle, I couldn't help but like a guy who was a "Fucking Sunshine Patriot."
And a daughter, I now learn? God bless her.
And you folks who reached out to him. Thank you.
joint pain? ... Try a bong, instead.

Exactly. [toon in nick - warning: may be constrood as rayciss]
This has been an inspiring thread.
I finally caught up and checked the front page. Andy has the podcast up. Ace has moved on to the Ukraine.
Then you can write the story of the blog, how it evolved and how much fun it has been. Then you get to go on book tours... Posted by: think
Can you imagine?

Just heard this. That was truly impressive.
When it comes to fine arts, I do stick figures not impressionist paintings. In music, I've written cartoon lyrics, for forty years. Sometimes as Randy Newman says I get off a good one, a well-done cartoon.
You write art. ![]()
But..10,000 pages of it exist so far, so there's that.

Just post the sex scenes here. We'll give you constructive criticism.
C'mon. We know they're in there. Silly bureaucratic time-travel sex. The Million-Year Club. Right? Right?
In the past year I have run a 10K, a 10 miler, 6 half marathons, and a marathon.

Congratulations. Seriously. Nothing like movement! So, will you change your handle to Flash in Fla?
Reading on, many other inspiring stories & thoughts. For me, anyway, dunno 'bout Ace.
You attract like-minded people. And such people have an incredible background and range of skills and experiences. Posted by: prescient11
Ain't that the truth! Milady W & I are constantly amazed at the knowledge here, posts and comments. A touch of wisdom, too, now and then.
NDH: great!
Imagine many similar replies.
Only just got caught up to my own #88, so I'll send this. Inspiring thread!
Here's a video of me and the puppies on a wild Saturday night.

That was chuckleworthy. The cats need a little more training up, it looks like.
But watch out.
Milady Webworker has only to pry the lid off the yogurt and is surrounded by four-footed beggers. Give 'em a taste just once....
Um. Sorry, I was going to hold off with my previous, somewhat o/t comment until at least after 100, as per stylebook, but fatfingers.
Well, since I'm here.
I'm glad if you're doing better by occupational therapies, Ace.
We're all pretty dependent on you as mother hen to at least keep the nest together.
I've been stuck in a major rut that is unproductive and costly for longer than I care to recall. Like spinning your wheels to get out of mud, every effort only seems to dig myself deeper. No AAA to call for a tow.
I have my hobby vanity-publ website for creative outlet, play some piano, and there are routines that comfort. In some facets of real life, though, I confess I still feel like a mime in a box with my hands bound behind me. (And I'm allergic to that damned white makeup.) So, yeah, doing something creative helps a little with endurance, and with holding on tight to that last thread of sanity in the face of a tidal wave of opposition.
Waiting, with patience approximating Job-ian duration, upon the will of the Almighty, meanwhile always wondering if there wasn't something my will was supposed to be doing instead to break the chain, and I just couldn't clue to what the "still small voice within" was yelling at me.
Okay, Ace, I was going to leave this on the konked-out parachute thread, but it's been quiet for an hour, and this is kinda happy news. Heard this last night on the radio show of some guy named Andy.
16-year-old girl falls 3,000 feet in skydiving accident -- and survives
http://cbsn.ws/1emLdXX
Okay, it's goodnews|badnews.
Good news is great:
"...hurt her liver and broke her pelvis, lumbar spine in her lower back, a shoulder blade and several ribs. She also has a broken tooth. 'I don't know the particulars of the accident as I wasn't there. But if she truly fell 3,000 feet, I have no idea how she survived,'" said the trauma surgeon.
The sour lining on the sweet cloud: Dad.
Dad drove 16yo up from Tx where law says 18, to OK where 16 is legal, and then gripes, "I find it very hard to believe that the rules and regulations in Oklahoma are that lax. I think there is a flaw there somewhere, and I don't think it's through the state of Oklahoma. I think it's the company. I'm not sure."
Blames the company, blames Oklahoma for the laws for which he came here.
Okay, I'll cut horrified, guilt-ridden Dad one day of slack for psychosis-inducing trauma causing him to blame everyone else (perhaps he's a Democrat). It was his gift and he brought her there and he jumped first and his little girl just about got turned into prairie pizza.
But if he keeps it up after the adreneline wears off, he may need to go out the door without a chute next time. get some therapy.
Note that she was instructed on what to do if the chute doesn't deploy correctly, she not only didn't do that, but apparently (presumably panicked) didn't follow radio instructions, either.
So, she's about as lucky as the guy who went through the wood chipper. (Wait, I didn't read that... gotta go back & find it.)
At the last HS reunion I attended, heard about two of my small graduating class who had killed themselves, and both were the nicest folks in a sea of us creepy teenagers. Why them, and mean and miserable folk like me just go on living like I've got a right to!
Of course, every time I even imagine contemplating it, I remember reading that, in out spiritual development, in the next life we pick up pretty much where we left off in this one, which always made sense to me. And this life or the next, the most important time & place is where & when you are right now, so, that keeps me from thinking I could improve a situation by doing myself in. :/
Never ever think it's a better way out.
crap. just reading on the ONT re Joffen threatening suicide. No resolution I saw in comments. crap.
A prime example of why you can not turn a third world shithole into a modern nation by helping them.

That top photo looks like driving through unexplored wild terrain. The caption says Afghanistan Highway 1. Whew! And that truck packed fuller than a train in rural India...! Now, that's travelin' in style!

And now that I'm all here, I'm not all there. I must run away. Perhaps, perhaps not to return tonight. Just this drive-by reminder of me. Don't cry for me, ONT. Be brave, and carry on.
