Some day I must set down the burned-into-memory story of a double blind date with a buddy of mine. Upshot was, the passenger side of my Mustang had to be defrosted afterward, while my buddy's date in the back seat left scorch marks.

Sometimes I lament being so old, when I realize how the very language changes, in ways I resist.

Like when "bad" meant bad, not good.

Or, when being "chivalrous" was a good and welcome and admirable thing.

Or when "scientific method" (largely the process of falsification) didn't mean "Why should I make the data available to you, when your aim is to try and find something wrong with it?"
