Thanks, Weirddave. That passes Occam better than the other.

It's not true. A company Pepsi hired to do taste research uses HEK 293 stem cells to test the reaction of human taste buds to certain flavors. Note: the additives are being tested on HEK 293 cells, not the HEK cells being added to product. Now, HEK cells were origionally developed from the kidney of a murdered child-40 years ago. They are very common in all types of biomedical research, but these cells are thousands of generations removed from actual fetal tissue, nor does their use create a market for fetal tissue. I'm more virulently pro-life than most, but this outrage is a bridge a bit far for me.

I only remembered that the Mrs, from Chicago, introduced this Oklahoma boy to the black eyed peas New Years tradition.

But I asked her, and she said our she first heard about it the first year after she came to Oklahoma, when our then, and current , neighbor asked, were we going to have black eyed peas for New Years? We both said, what?

But Mrs is a master chef, and we've kept the tradition ever since. With variations in recipe this might send some folks here screaming, but always black eyed peas.

We have a new local source for the basic ingredient for our favorite sauce, NM green chili. I'll be adding a dollop of that. Helps make the luck flouresce.

Last thread still dead at a mere #174, poor stomped thing. And after that abundant ONT, too.

No indication of new thread.

This has been your blog report, sponsored by Kaboom.

Time for first beggs & acon of Jan 2014.

My God! It's 2014!

The blaribg irony, of course, is, if homosexuals had no sex until quote married unquote and were faithful for life to their spouses, just like heterosexuals ought, there would be no AIDS. Nor other STDs, basically.

My goal, not a resolution is to go through 2014 Alcohol free. That's it.

Hey, Poet!

I don't condemn people indulging (especially at AoSHQ! ), but if it's time to quit, quit, and God strengthen the will & the wisdom.

Confession! I had a glass, almost two, of wine at my son's wedding rehearsal dinner. First & only indulgence in more than two years. (And felt it. Booze is a hard drug!) But generally, I learned, the hard way, don't drink while I'm 'on call,'* which is pretty much always how I seem to be these years, almost like when the kids were little.

Just think of it as a drying out period. Drink 'tomorrow.'

*We may all find ourselves on full constant alert all to soon....

May 2014 be blessed for you & your brother, Carol. People resign themselves too easily rather than hope. Surely makes it harder to pray positively.

Think I caught a cold or something. What I get for not drinking.

Too much content, Andy. Pace yourself!

Charlie the cat wonders why I'm moving late & slowly. And on such a sunshiney morning!

Walked into last night's ONT party... briefly. Had to leave after they set the barrel on fire. Just can't party like I used to.

Good morning! Happy New Day! Happy New Month! Happy 2014!
