My last doodle of the year I was going to go for something apolitical & mushy, but instead ended up mocking Der SCoaMF waving g'bye to 2013 for me.

My TL;DR end of year version of this comment dropped at butt end of last thread:

My website is an open sketchbook-diary of my random crap. I call it the web's best-kept secret since 1996 - probably fewer hits in my site's history (discounting spambots) than Ace gets in an hour.

That's fine with me. I'm not out to be a pop phenom. Fame scares the bejeebers out of me, actually. Moonbattery once embedded a video of mine, and when I, not knowing that, saw the views stat spike, the ol' tummy clenched up like a monkey hearing a jaguar roar. Although... if fame came associated with proportional wealth, I would try to handle it.

The web's growth surprised me, and I had been waiting for it for decades. I never really thought about the possibility of anything like 'going viral' when I first scanned & uploaded a cartoon to the newfangled web thingy. Now that I realize how easily one can, quite randomly, become a worldwide target, for just the slightest thing, well, I might have been more circumspect in some of my uploading. Or, maybe not. Too late now.

Basically, I'm just glad if I can now and then reach my "niche market," like finding someone with whom you know you can share the latest joke.

The stats show that the biggest referrer to my site in 2013 was Ace. Since this is practically the only place I plug my stuff, not a big surprise. I hope there aren't too many followed my links and got disappointed, and that some got a smile or something now & then.

Upshot is, I appreciate this community, and our hosts, for all I get from alla y'all, and I hope I've returned a tithe or so in jokes, links, and sometimes a webwork. HBD, Ace of Spades blog. Happy New Year you old horde you, and, for Auld Tymes' Sake... one of the greatest AoS-spawned memes...

"No. No pity. They can either vote with their feet, or stop being sheep."

I get the schaedenfreud (sp?) but...

Used to be people "voted with their feet" by moving to America. Now we're moving selectively within America. I know my family did. But...

When you have nowhere left to run, maybe then you'll take sympathetic pity on your fellows trapped behind enemy lines.

In 2012, Obama won Manhattan by 84% and the Bronx by a staggering 92%.
Not one tear shall I shed.

Wow. So, as soon as Lot & family leave, we can expect some action....

NYC deserves EVERYTHING they get from the barking moonbat cocholsters they elect. -sven10077

No pity for the dissenters trapped there?

Democracy = 4 wolves & a sheep voting on dinner, it's said.

Or, three PETA fanatics and two horse-drawn carriage business owners voting on using horses. Or three Greenies and two reasonable folks voting on incandescent light bulbs.

Government, to my thinking, is supposed to protect us from the tyrants, including the tyranny of the majority. As if we had God-given rights.

DAMN TYRANNY in all its forms.

"on this day in 1879 Thomas Edison gave the first demo of the incandescent light bulb"

Have you been saving that one up for today, Vic?

I have more bulbs than I have room to store them. But I've noticed modern bulbs don't last as long....

"last day you will be able to buy one for general purpose use.

All my needs are special... lords local heat lamps needed.

But for the record: DAMN TYRANNY in all its forms.

You've got to get up every morning
With the sun in your eyes
And realize
It's a beautiful day!

aw, darn, I was going to end snarky, but instead I feel better.

Good morning, glories!

Inspiring content, Gabe. Can't argue with it.

"BINGO is a slang term used in Scrabble for a play using all seven of one’s tiles...."

I never heard that, but I have a BINGO fail tale. Not sure whether I should cut & paste (it's short) or link, so I'll just link to my best Scrabble story.

Although the board was crowded, I saw my opening, a lonely "s" that would work perfectly....

Heh, covered that in less than 20 comments.

Did text disappear because I used a less-than symbol?? Pixy, c'mon!

Say, off/t apologies, but

Would any Bluetooth or USB fullsize keyboard work with an HTC Android? The tiny screen is a hassle, but the keyboard size is the main pain.

Are there full-size raised-key boards with keyface displays for key mutability, a la the cell's virtual touch 'keyboards'? That's what I'd really want.

And a flying pickup.

siiigh. Like the blog commenting upgrade... #twoweeks

(see how I brought it back on/t there? no? sigh)

18 Ace's first post consisted of two words, "First post."

And it was a double post. -EC

Just before he banned himself. -Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing

Which was promptly stomped on. -Panhandler

Heh, covered that in

Panhandler beat slow typing me. I was gonna go check how long it actually was between post #1 & #2. Now my OCD can find something else to O about.

tl;dr

(somebody had to say it)

To choose to act is to commit oneself to a course, with all its unpredictable consequences. A project, especially as it involves others, becomes a thing in itself, which grows beyond its originators. I sometimes wonder whether Ace had any idea at the outset what forces and personalities his HQ would involve.

Hope Ace has no (significant) regets, and the bennies always outweigh the hassles.

-Dr. Ruth Westheimer, diminutive sex therapist extraordinaire

BTB, I was a little disappointed to see Dr Ruth didn't transit from graphic novel to video in the excellent animation of Dark Knight Returns, which I only saw this month. Also "Endrochine", alas, was not a lawsuitable Letterman parody as in the comic. Alas.

Hey, Brandon In Baton Rouge - A small thing, obviously, but. every time I encounter your compound replies, my Inner Graphic Design / Webpage Worker thinks I would find them more readable if you put the separators after your comments instead of between #headline and comment.

I got it. I'll start a blog! Where's Allen G.?
Posted by: J.J. Sefton

Careful, JJ! It's a ruthless, competitive, cutthroat business, blogs. There's this one blog been smacking down others for 'bout a decade, so I hear, the 1000# gorilla of blogs. You don't want his thugs coming around saying, nice little blog you got here; shame if anything should happen to it. Remember what they did to Little Green Spitballs and Anne Madhouse blogs!

AllenG may not admit it, but, that's why he never started his blog.

Could Benghazi Hill be the Democrats' McCain?

Of course, that would mean squaring off against a Republican tantamount to Lord Hussein Soetero. I can't imagine a pop Pub powerhouse. Sarah really could be, but the RINOs won't risk another loser... like Reagan. :/
