Good morning....it appears my coffee pot is dying.
This is suboptimal.

At home, our Cuisinart coffee maker seems to be a trooper. So, last week replacing the shorter-lived Black & Decker office machine, we got the exact same Cuisinart model. No grinder, nothing special except the clock/timer. Unsolicited testimonial. YMMV

First instance of data recording, not symbolically but in a form to be played back to reproduce the original data. It's a concept that goes well beyond simply recording sound.
Posted by: --- (pronounced " ")

Oldest known recording is the French children's song recorded with candle smoke... the "played back" part, took computers, but it did work. if with a rather high signal:noise ratio. Proof of concept.

Kind of like daVinci's autogyro just had to wait for engines to fly it. (Earlier example of jpeg: Shroud of Turin.)

But, yay, Tom, for the inventing and the marketing!

The ONT accelerates rapidly... but for SOME reason, I am declerating even more rapidly... or less um... whatever...

Happy Turkey Sandwich Week

everything slides on ice. -nerdygirl

YOW! I'm thankful it was no worse than that! And that you're here to tell us about it!!

Ice - the only reason besides tequila* I've ever had trouble, operating an automobile. Doesn't take much of either one.

No, instead of watching the WKRP, we watched the Jack Lalanne video. Thanks for that, Maet!

Added it to the top of a little playlist that I've been making, above 2 other vids, a TED talk by Brother David Steindl-Rast, a monk and interfaith scholar who suggests that happiness is born from gratitude (not as energetic as Mr. Lalanne, but who is?) and a 2011 feelgood mall flash mob thing from some cell provider:

Thankfulness - It's not just for Thanksgiving anymore

Heck, instead of the quiz, I think I'll just go watch that WKRP. See y'all later.

Getting the Thanksgiving Aftermath ONT off on the right foot. Or moron foot. (That doesn't even make sense what I said there.)

Wow.

At first, I thought it was some praying mantis. Then I figured out it was a bow. I just could not figure out how that bow was hooked up on that tree, much less why!

Then I looked down and saw the platform. Then the boot toes. And suddenly my awareness was jarringly augmented.

Wow.

Women can get awfully emotional in the early stages of pregnancy. . . . (what's that evil smirk icon?)

((Sees WalrusRex is not amused))

Or... or for other reasons...

A moment away from the crowd. One turkey is cooked, traditionally, another just went in the greasepot out back. I've been trying not to fill up on pistachios.

No Obummercare talk, but I heard praise of FDR. He may have been joking.

D'awww, kitty Sparky brought me a good-sized rodent for Thanksgiving. Such a giver.

For an administration that tries to control its image, ones like this still get out. Then there is the article itself.

Greetings, Turkey's.

I'm thankful for this virtual community!

Mom's hosting Supper for something around thirty of her descendants, in-laws, and other relations and guests. Thankful for her, and for, um, yeah, well, all that family, too.

I'm thankful for Mr Maetenloch's collections of fascinating material for these posts.

I'm thankful for the Ace of Spades team who keep this house in order and the buffet filled with hot content.

I'm thankful for the alleged supposed reputed Mr Ace of Spades whose Temple of Discussion is managed with such an iron glove in a velvet fist.

I'm just so darned thankful tonight. Warming up for tomorrow.

I might have been here sooner, but there was this ginormous wall of text in the post. I awoke later, wiped up the drool, and decided maybe I'd try that one later.

My hero, Super Furnace Repair Guy, did get the furnace fixed. Yes, of course, that little igniter decided after fifteen years, since the temperature was going to plunge to 18, that it was a good time to CRACK.

I'm thankful for Super Furnace Repair Guy!

Time for this thankful webworker to go do some things. Less than a month 'til the Solstice, then things will surely get warmer. Eventually. If we don't get a long asteroidal, volcanic, or nuclear winter.
