Again I feel the need to ask: Why is Organizing for America out there telling it's little cultists to sign up friends and family for Obamacare over the Thanksgiving holiday when Obammy and his cronies KNOW that the website is still a piece of shit? MWR

General answer to all such cultist propagandizing efforts:

Because when you're talking, you aren't listening.

This Makes No Sense To Me. At All.

Prime Minister of Latvia takes political responsibility of the collapse of a supermarket roof, resigns.

How quaint. Taking such serious responsibility for that which happens under one's watch even if it was utterly beyond one's control.

No, not exactly reasonable, but reminds me of traditional Japanese in its nobility of responsibility - something about honor.

Economy? Jobs? IRS? Fast & Furious? Benghazi? Iran?

Another Scientific Study Finds Something Obvious
"Men most often regret not having sex with more people while women frequently regret having sex with the wrong partner...."

"with more people..." I note it doesn't say specifically "more women"! Being men, alas, I suppose it would be more accurate to say, more anything with a hole, animate or otherwise. :\

Once upon a time I regretted "not having sex with more people." Caused more damage than booze, drugs, and various liberal indulgences combined.

Today, I simply regret having sex ever with anyone except with the one-and-only Mrs.

Hey, kids, let me give you some great advice I got when I was young, but failed to follow, and then learned, eventually, the hard way, that I should have followed.

Kids? Wait! Listen! Hey, kids? sigh!

Last night the office started getting cold. Figured out that the furnace blower works in A/C and auto-fan position but quits working when the heat kicks on. So, the flames never kick on. NATURALLY this happens when it's 18° the day before Thanksgiving.

But yay! My hero, Mr. Furnace Guy, said he can visit today to see why. We had planned to be heading down to see my mom and family for the day, but...

I'm thankful Mr. Furnace Guy is working today.

You probably already read about the school book that speaks of the concern that "white voters would never vote for a black president" - which actually was a mature assessment question that was discussed, but hardly explanation- and nuance-free fare for fourth graders!

I like Zazu Pitts. Not a great beauty, but a heckuva funny physically comedic actress. And that voice!

Thanks for the background on film editing, MPPPPPP.

'Way back in the dark ages of the early 1970s, I worked for several months at a television station. My "office" was the mailroom, next to the film room, and Dan, the head of the department, knew film.

Did I mention I'd worked in film since as a kid I first used Dad's old 16mm camera? (With single-shot for animation! Lord, I wish I hadn't lost all my childhdood films!). I appreciated what went into splicing celluloid.

I got to do a little work in the film room. Just finding old splices for the pros to fix. I did nothing that went on-air.

Dan's "editing" work was likewise mostly mundane, often just involved putting the film back together after some previous station (usually our sister station) had butchered it up, but he also took great pride creating commercial breaks that didn't interrupt a scene, or if he had to cut for length to take out relatively innocuous moments.

Dan would sometimes point out to me on the movieola how, say, Hitchcock would transition from one scene to another and how he would lead the eye. Wonderful lessons. And I was being paid to get them!

Thanks, Dan G, wherever in heaven you are now.

'Breeder' - The holiest of human social activity - creating and shepherding to adulthood fellow members of God's earthly family - is reduced to its crudest animal component.

Despite that, the term could be employed in either friendly or hostile fashion, ugly though it is, no worse than calling our beloved offspring 'rugrats' when they're troublesome. Used light-heartedly by an aunt or uncle who is a dead-ender (what you are if you don't breed, regardless of your persuasions (yes, I just made that up - I think)). Childlessness is an unhappy consequence of some life choices, and unchosen forces, and breeding has its devastating consequences as well, for everyone including the little muggers we ruin, so, all differences being part of the human condition, we can make light of them.

However, having been employed so frequently with such derogatory venom, in the midst of outright cultural warfare upon het pair bonded family unity, the humor is pretty much drained away from this one, to which anyone thinking to use the term ought be sensitive. And you know such folks want to be sensitive.

"...the big deal was so read the story and she claimed it said 'whore times 8.' Whatever, lady. Get a life."
: katya, the designated driver

Yeah, that's pretty obscure; I don't think I would've got it. However, I sympathize - if she saw it, so will others - that's life in mass population. I've seen some plates that unintentionally (presumably) suggest things to me. But then, I hang out here.

City Orders Bar To Remove 'Thank A Veteran For Your Freedom!' Sign...(Drudge)

"I love this place. The sign gives me the pride back that I lost … I struggled a lot when I first came back," an Army vet told CBS2′s Stacey Butler.

...

"We received a letter in the mail from the city stating that we have to remove it within two days or they were going to fine us, like, $940," says co-owner John Marovic.

...

The issue has some of the sign's supporters scratching their heads.

Said one veteran: "I can understand city ordinances, but it's been up there for 10 years. I don't understand why it's a problem now."
