My very personal intro to the abortion issue was when I was 17. A 14-year-old friend confessed that, when she was 13, she had been seduced by a well-to-do older boy, was dumped immediately, then was persuaded by his parents to abort.

Never mind the poor girl-rich boy social imbalance. Never mind her horror at feeling like a murderer. Never mind law or morality or when souls initialize; strictly from a medical standpoint...

Illegal at the time, the abortion was performed by a real doctor, but, yes, literally on his kitchen table, but from what I read, that 'kitchen table' surgery was probably done in much cleaner circumstances than legal abortion clinics I read about.
