I was pretty upset all my Radio Shack Model I software would be useless on a Model III. Still am.

Fortunately, I kept the RS working 'til the PC-AT came out.

I upgraded in quotes this year from my battered old Nokia flip phone to this HTC iClone and I'm not happy. The software! Nokia where was bad, but it did everything connected to my computer, and didn't use the cloud. The I clone will hardly let me do anything without the cloud. Who needs this?

I could be a lot more specific but that's my end user complaint. As a sort of programmer I've been wondering about writing for these phones, so I'm very glad for this article. My daughter is finally ready to upgrade, and we've been talking about the terrible choices. Might just go with Microsoft.

Considering the now-cut costs of trial and incarceration, appeals and, presumably, ultimately, execution, shouldn't the state award some portion of those savings to the family?

I'm almost serious.

There are plenty of other perfectly good and valid reasons to insult us.

Yeah! Like, I heard you guys don't keep enough toilet paper in the Ladies' Room. And the kind you buy is "Big Chief" brand, with what appear to be chunks of wood in it. No wonder the ladies are leaving the HQ in droves.

And the attempts to sandpaper out the graffiti carved into the Men's Room walls aren't appreciated, either. I only got six of the characters of Kate Upton's phone number. For a friend.

A demonstrated willingness to use chemical weapons, plus a demonstrated willingness to lob missiles equals real & serious international threat.

(Our end game in Iraq was not thought through, but I do think few on earth miss Saddam & Sons or regret our removing him. That part of Bush's adventures was one good thing.)

Wait... those aren't headlines...

I just want to say, while I think the public schooling system must be destroyed, I had the best public school education the world has ever provided. Small town, small classes, basic education, late 1950s-early 1960's, middle America. When we pledged allegiance to one nation under God, we knew why. Totally Leave it to Beaver. I still live on what I learned in grade school, from math to civics. And Mom, of course, with the 'did you do your homework' and flashcards.

That is a model for education. Just not public schools, not anymore, never again. The current system amply demonstrates why not.
