Just how is the average public school graduate supposed to be able to read such fancy writin'?

Nice strawman argument you've built there!

Tinfoil hat crazy.
"I've tried twice now to read this article and I can't get through it because Dr. Hanson makes a simple mistake. He conflates 'Obama' with 'America'."
BO is synecdoche for the citizens residents of America he represents. Not what you or I might mean by America.
"And here's a black perspective--increasingly a universal one: good black women have a hard time getting married because most of the rest of black womanhood is giving the milk away for free." -baldilocks
I think the problem is pan-cultural.
"A constitutional republic is, as we've learned to our everlasting shame, too precious an institution to be the responsibility of every skylarking layabout with a pulse."
-Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing
I just thought that choice turn of phrase bore repeating.
Excellent post. Again. Maybe now I'll go read the linked article, too.
Re missing family things for work, as a dad who got to mostly be home with the kids (and did not serve), I'd especially salute those in the armed services!
"...no one weeps for the time they lose with their children or the loneliness they feel while away from their families."
On the inside.
Well, finally, pets are fed, got a cup of coffee, a shot of fine liquor, and a hookah full of Afghani hashish.* Guess I'm ready to read the news.

"Do not forgive them, even if they know not what they do."
Um... I think I know what you mean there. However, considering this is a play on one of the most moving revelations of love in all of history, thank you Jesús el Nazareeno, I am moved to pontificate, not just for our host's sake, but for those interested:
If we truly are judged as we judge, or as the prayer teaches, are forgiven as we forgive, one might want to consider mercy a good idea, at least. Srsly, u guys, true forgiveness is a worthy attitude for any child of the Divine. Let not your heart ever be corrupted with thoughts of vengeance. (As I read here a while back, it might spoil your aim.)
That said, in the practical and mundane outworking of life in this mortal realm, "forgive" =/= "forget." You don't put the convicted embezzler back in charge of the books, nor leave the pederast on the streets (much less in charge of the children). You don't re-elect the RINO who betrayed you. It is significantly easier to forgive when you first ensure there is no opportunity for repeat offense. Ever. No matter how much forgiveness is involved or contrition is expressed.
So, what I'm saying is, if the situation requires it, utterly without malice, and replete with holy mercy,

Once again, thanks to this Nostalgia Blog, I'm seeing the leftover TV-Century culture, still somehow alive decades into the Internet Century. For me, it's like walking into a museum. Scheduled broadcasts of shows? Talking heads? Putting up with Commercials? Why? Oh yeah, they still matter to Too Many.
But, personally, I so don't care about the whole newspeople genre (and me with one-time pretensions of actual journalism) that it vitiates my appreciation even of the witty repartwee derived from Morgan's silly snit.

But that made it all worth it.
No, no, you-all. WE are next.
Two-week leave for all military personnel marrying furniture or cesspools.

I have a book called "Bushisms" about GHWB. They just recycle the same stuff.

I have a book someone gave me, a collection of anti-Reagan cartoons from during his administration. Amazing how many things there are in there, such as mocking him for calling for the end of the Berlin Wall, that with just a few years' hindsight showed how right he was. And how wrong all the political cartoonists were, all along.
I wonder when the Democrats are just going to wise up and run a ventriloquist's dummy? It would be much easier.

I'd bet President ValJar would like to replace the current shopworn BO puppet with an audioanimatronic duplicate.
How about whipping up a batch of pneumonic plague while they're at it, I think that has something like 99% fatality. Or we could aerosolize rabies, the number of known unvaccinated survivors in all of recorded history can be counted on one hand.
