Because it bears repeating. Remember, one may argue with an intransigent ideologue, but there are Lurkers reading you who are trying to figure it out. Bother!

"Sen. Rubio, who is not Mexican, in a sombrero against a Mexican flag background" is hilarious to me, but I have no sense of PC. I wonder what Raul, our long-time-citizen neighbor rancher who still retains his gloriously thick Mexican accent, would think! The more I think about how funny the image is, the more I think, maybe I should stick to the comments on the morning posts.

Good morning, glories.

Great to take a dip in the pool, but I gotta get out and find a place to nap.

Yes, there ought to be a digest. "Here's the highlights of what you missed last night." [NSFW]

I'm tired of hearing 'bout Bronco Martin and Mitt Zimmermannn!

"Chambers dedicated Curtis Mayfield's 'People Get Ready' to [Trayvon] Martin. While he sung, [sic] a woman leapt onto the stage and attacked the 73-year-old singer."

Well see there's this new fangled thingy called a "hyperlink".... @Mætenloch

Just peeked back a few minutes ago at the page that had been up and found The Wall of Text. Took the record for the longest non-troll non-spam comment, right?

I have thanked Pantzaretorn (whatever) for the long ones, which make my occasional accidental verbiage-overflows comparably concise. But this thing made Panz's longest comment look like a tweet.

I knew what I'd see when I reloaded, so I saved the page before reloading. Might even read that thing some day. Except I glimpsed the end. Sigh.

As for the snippage, if y'gotta snip, that was a courteous enough way to do it, I'd say. Firm but friendly.

Ah, love y'all. Bet this is just what Ace expected when he started this place!

..and the new girl on the show just informed me that if Zimmerman was black this incident would never have happened...because black folks just don't kill other black folks. @Icedog

OW! OW! STOP IT!

Wife says, Is this the new girl who's supposed to be conservative?
I said, Where did you get that information?
She said, the kind of thing you pick up in passing even when you're not trying to pay attention.

"The View"... torture... "Clockwork Orange" @Icedog

Ice, I saw Orange in the theaters when it came out -- never again -- and I do believe this is the first time since then that I have actually laughed out loud at anything relating to it. Maybe a grin at some Mad parody of it, but nothing more. Thanks for the catharsis.

Everyone wants to claim moral culpability for Zimmerman in this case. : tsrblke

Moral equivalency; a symptom of the Unthinking. Something bad happened so they both had to be wrong somehow. (For some reason this reminds me of the recently mentioned Natives who thought if something bad happened to someone, it was okay to just plunder their stuff, like the gods had given permission.)

Where was I? Moral equivalency. America was as bad as Hitler. Christians create Muslim terrorists. Zimmerman beat up poor little Trayvon's fists with his face.

I've looked at life from both sides now,
From Right and Wrong, and still, somehow,
It's life's illusions I recall,
I really don't know Truth
aaaat- all.

From the "good article" on "Some people actually can challenge their pre-existing assumptions and be swayed by facts" article:

Since I was rickrolled to Slate, thought I'd read it:

"That doesn't make Zimmerman a hero. It just makes him a reckless fool instead of a murderer," opineth the Slate Author.

siiighhh Mr. Slate Author can't let Zim get off completely? Zim can't just be a guy, who had to do what he had to do to a feral attacker. No, Zim has to still be a "reckless fool" somehow.

"Zimmerman is guilty, morally if not legally, of precipitating the confrontation that led to Martin's death. He did many things wrong. Mistake No. 1 was inferring that Martin was a burglar."

And after that I quit reading the clusterfluke.
