Note to commenting novices:

When referring to a previous message, do not rely upon the message number. When some innocent lurker gets his first-time post whacked troll comments are deleted, all messages move up one. (This is why the #2 comment is known as "a heartbeat away.")

The proper procedure to refer to a previous message is to
1. copy the message link perma-URL hidden behind the message number, then
2. create a tiny URL from that, and
3. paste the tiny URL in the commenter URL field;
4. refer to your nic in the content of your message,
5. also copying and pasting the previous commenter's a) handle, b) date-time stamp, and c) parenthesized hashtag.

If you'll observe, that's how all the oldtimers do it. It's because of all the harsh penalties if you don't.

Know what you mean. But sometimes,
1. You can say it, not necessarily better, but a way someone else will get it (e.g. lurke)
2. Somebody didn't read the other one, but read yours.
3. uh...?
4. Profit!

I have fawns on my front lawn many mornings. (Vid in nic link.) I walk out and wave and hoot hello and sometimes they just go on grazing. They're best when I have kitties come out of the house with me, and mostly pay attention to the kitties and ignore the deer. Perhaps you should put a fuzzy kitty pic in the post, Ace.

Lurkers, I'm a paranoid lunatic buzzball of shyness and self-consciousness who thinks they're talking about me every time I see a reference to a troll being spotted. Okay, not every time. But, I totally appreciate lurkdom. It's hot in the kitchen. Even in the usually warm and friendly confines of AoSHQ's twinkie- and MRE-stocked commissary.

You might need something cooling to endure it. I saw a recipe for mint juleps a ways back that might do it for some.

Reading a few comments, I just remembered, someone posted somewhere somewhen back a ways that Eddie Haskell died. Maybe it was a reference I missed, because Ken Osmond is still alive (and partying with Abe Vigoda), as far as Professor Internet knows. And Jeff Goldblum. And Paul McCartney.

So much for my lead-in context. But anyway...

Eddie Haskell was a great character. He taught us so much.

A generation that grew up without Eddie Haskell elected him to be President.

May not get another chance to comment; don't feel much like clowning on the ONT tonight, anyway. The "finally sinking in" thing takes a while for me in some ways. I spent much of the day checking in with AoSHQ. Thanks to posters & commenters for.. you know, everything today.

Y'know what we've been watching for escape? Burns & Allen. Just saw an episode where Sheldon Leonard plays (what else) a gangster threatening Gracie, and, well, he has to be saved from Gracie, of course.

Thanks for the reminder about that. That had been compressed in the memory files. Reminds me again why I felt such a wave of relief he day GW Bush took the oath of office - and it wasn't because I was so high on dear ol' George, except, you know, generally, in that I figured, for example, we'd never find GWB in the closet with his pants down. Not sure what you mean, but... I read slowly and compose slowly and post late, and so I don't usually respond to the personal on here, esp when things move fast, but this place is full of people who do care and who express my own sympathies all the time, with every thing that happens, from the death of a cat to the birth of a child to the course of our nation or the world. Seems like many tuned in here, immediately, as I did? It's all family. Just wanted to add that.

Regardless of who will never be found responsible or brought to justice, this tragedy must be exploited answered with increased government oversight in every aspect of life. Fortunately, we are ready.

I think I'll go pretend to do something useful now. Thanks for the dooms. Mind the fire and remember, "the brown snails are not particularly too good" (at least not without plenty of BBQ sauce).
