First thing this morning, had to check the ONT, 'cause I peeked in late & briefly, and thought I saw the return of Stuck on Stupid. I was reading up on Wolverine cheating on his gf and SoS livin wif 2 wimmins when I ran across a startling bit of blasphemy:

"...sleep is good! sleep is better than ONT." -elizabethe at April 14, 2013 11:41 PM

Deeply disturbing. Someone needs to straighten Liz out!

Good Morning

Sorry for partial double post. Fringe reception out here. (Glances nervously at barrel)

"Fathers in the UK are now being treated for PTSD after watching their wives give birth..."

I was basically the midwife for the home birth of our first, and was holding my beloved's hand while she delivered our twins, in the hospital. Incredibly traumatic; Mrs was terrifying!! But as with the new mom, the next moment is the most amazing of all life, holding that newborn miracle (or two); what better post-trauma therapy could there be? Those boys just weren't paying attention.

#GITMO. "When are we going to take these people out and shoot them?"

Sounds like we just missed an opportunity to reduce upkeep expenses and help some of them reach their 72 Helen Thomases.

"The colony was losing mightily and starvation had set in in Charleston until the Cherokees sided with the colonists...."

And they were later amply rewarded by Jackson's gift of the Cherokee Strip in Oklahoma, for the low, low price of merely walking here.

Every day and every night
you'll find me in the same place.
Might as well face it,
I'm addicted to AoS.

("AoS" pronounced as "ace," employed here to differentiate between AoS the site and Ace the fictional Ewok mascot.)

Now that it's passed, finding out what's in the bill:

103.a.
Those who claim "first" on blogs are now understood to be dangerously mentally unstable and will have their guns, knives, and hard hitty things confiscated if they are not turned in voluntarily. You know who you are. Turn yourselves in and don't make me come back there.

103.a.1.
Rule 103.a. applies to those who claim to have made the first comment, regardless of whether they actually made the first comment.

103.b.s.
By Executive Order, exception is made for commenters on the fair and balanced blogs that believe in co-existinche and putchoolee.

That is all. Everyone else should resume your blogging, knowing that Uncle Brother is watching over your posts and comments, for the protection of Greater Society, and we have absolutely no intentions of coming after anyone else next, nope, nope.

1. STS-1 launch, previous thread - kind of amazing. Build a big pop bottle rocket, attach a cartoonishly blobby glider, stick some people inside and light the fuse. Insane. Amazing. And so long ago now.

2. ...?

3. I forgot to celebrate grilled cheese sandwich day in time, but Mrs made up for it today with a grilled tuna and cheese sandwich with a dippin' sauce made from I'm not sure what all but it had her Santa Fe style green chili. MMmm-mm.

4. This may be my final message until the next one.

"We all knew that 'Keep abortion safe and legal' slogan was only serious about one of the requirements." -meh

Sorry, some still believe in legal, safe, as early as possible, and rare, deeply regrettable, but when necessary. (As someone commented awhile back, by almost anybody's standards but the likes of Barry O, this isn't even about abortion, it's murder.) But to stand for private, sad but necessary abortion in this climate is like saying, "oh, yes, alcohol should be legal and safely available to adults," while a drunken mass orgy is burning down the city.

When I saw It's a Mad^4 World in theaters, it was the first time I ever had uncontrollable, fall out of my chair laughter. God, let me laugh like that again. And Jonathan Winters' destruction of the gas station, including mauling Phil Silvers, may have been what sent me to the sticky theater floor. He was a unique, wild man.
