O/T - except it's foodish...

Mrs MW used to make fantastic BBQ tofu. We'd bring a big pot of it to the family reunions and put it on the grill with the many meat dishes. For the few vegetarians in the clan. My younger sister saw it -she wasn't vegetarian, but wouldn't touch it thinking it was 'mystery meat.' When she found out what it was, knowing Mrs to be a great cook, Sis went back, but the cowboys had already devoured it all. Bwah ha ha.

We don't eat soy anymore, but... hey, Mrs, could you BBQ bacon...?

I subscribe to the Onion's YouTube channel, and often put their vids in my humor playlists (nic link). But I link all kinds of stuff, and I've unlisted several Onion vids after viewing them. They're funny sometimes, when they're absurdist. Good for a minute. Like the recent vid that had cops worrying about a very sharp knife. But mostly politically, they stink. And as Ace's headlines show, their level of wit is not hard to churn out (all due respect, Ace's were Onion-funny plus good parody).

It's like when Jenna Marbles says or does something political, it's just sad. Except, playing Palin, adding moose meat to chocolate chip cookies was memorably chuckleworthy.

Now, about the Newscaster laugh track...

All I know is, my three attempts to post comments on this thread all seem to have been sequestered! Mighty suspicious.

Most "conservatives" are 65% or more liberalized. Like arguing for prayer in schools instead of getting govt out of the school business, they've already won. When you let govt define marriage one way, you give govt the power to define it the other way, when it has no business defining marriage. True equality-mindedness is required, no race or gender prefs or hatey crimes or any law or reg that treats individuals as a class or order. How far is the common voter from such libertarian principle?

Heh. Decades ago, CompuServe Issues forum, I got serious blowback when I suggested, not just het pair, but "all else equal," the actual bio parents are best for the kids. Pro-adopts argued, ignoring the "all else equal" aspect.

In practice, all is rarely equal, and in some cases, a kid might be better off with caring, respectful group gay parents than a brutal, drunken pair of bio het parents. A female Olympic weight-lifter may have more upper-torso strength than most men, too but she doesn't change the average significantly.

My 2c for today. Since I'm sitting here writing all serious you guys, with my usual timing, I figure the horde has moved on to the next thread, right?....

So, what did I miss on the Doom thread comments? By the time I got up it was already squooshed so I came directly here. Doomy post, tho!

Drought-plagued months of piled-up brush finally got torched yesterday, on the one mild, sunny day between last week's ice storm and today's rain. Rather than carve a hole in the semi-frozen sod, as we have for so many dear old pets, instead, we placed old Buck in his fruit-box coffin on top of the oak, pine, and Christmas trees. We watched as flames reached his box, then, while we were distracted stamping out some burning grass, the box vanished. My mind says hot fire did the job. My heart says angels took him while we were distracted.
