Sven, he had spent some cold winters outside when he wouldn't use the litter box, and I was glad this winter somehow he'd learned to control it and could stay inside. He had it good in his last year. Had even been lively like a 2nd kittenhood; seen that before in soon-to-die critters, and people. Good kitty.

On Thursday afternoon, Mrs Mindful came home to find Buck had died. He was well-fed, inside, warm, and alert his last days. We've had worse deaths. Just sorry we weren't here for him when he died. He was just old. Already adult when he picked us up, in the fall of 1999.
