More of the muffins, please. MMmmmmm.... green chili.

Okay, read a couple hundred comments before my brain overheated. Reloaded and saw a couple hundred more and... meltdown began. Another drive-by posting:
Guess where my daughter decided to go visit a friend for the weekend? Think wet and windy. She actually listened when we suggested she might want to leave NO a day early, ahead of Isaac. She has a knack. Broke down in the middle of the night in SD on the coldest night in history.

Study question for the rest of the ONT: Was Maynard on drugs? http://bit.ly/RTEsDT
Is it an overnight thread if you only pop in for a moment? What if everyone quit before the night was over? What would undernight be?
Half of what SCOAMF says is meaning-less.
But he say it just to please you Julia.
And now, Take Me Home Kathleen....
That sleepy doggies vid is just not up to AoS standards. (Yawn!) Need Ukranian Parkour Dog again. (Yaaawwwnnn...) urgle glurg zzzzzzzzzz
300th??
Mindlessly passingby again. Which wiseacre put these watercress sandwiches on the buffet?
Maet! Sorry to hear of the stones. Never had that one, but all the comments on that subject, my eyes glaze over--Is tp;cr a meme? Tis now. Too painful; can't read.
@37 Gray Fox: God bless your brother for his service, and watch over him and all of 'em. Fearsome times.
Today we watched the VJ Day celebration video posted earlier on AoS. All those guys celebrating. Like my Uncle Ed already footsore from marching across Europe, readying for that final Pacific battle, when Boom!^2! Suddenly it's over. And the anticipated horrific invasion of Japan... never happened.
Couple that with the video showing all the nukes 1945-1996. More than the Mrs & I had realized, and we've lived through most of 'em. What other weapon has a record like the nuke? 2nd & 3rd ones used in war. So far, since then, thousands, but never used in war again. Quite remarkable. Enjoying it while we can & continuing to pray.
Think it might've missed one, though. If the stories about the bomb that was set off in Japanese-held Korea are correct, Harry sure made a timely decision.
The messages just doubled while I was reading. Must... resist... reading... everything....
Man~ana comes swiftly. And so, dear friends, adchoo! Adchoo and vesperantos!
Truman @204
Die Fledermaus! of course.
That's my drive-by posting for tonight. Aiming for the Bottom of the Posters list trophy.
Ah, epobirs, was that for me? You peeked, right? Really, we were just looking at kitty vids.
I make no claims for our anecdotal experiences' validity. We don't do scientific double-blind testing. When a cat's tendons are showing and then the hole closes up, I don't really care whether what we tried was the cause. Certain associations do seem implicated enough to suggest further investigation. So we keep trying it as long as it seems to work. Feel free to go in for the steroid shot instead. Neither of us will be able to have what we want by the end of another Obummer term, anyway.
Actually, the tap water around here lately stinks and tastes terrible. I mean, it's making headlines.
Sleep tight. [Actually leaving now.]
Gotta go. Whew. Havent' read thru an ONT in a while. I may lurk mostly, but I miss the place when I'm not here.. and, uh, am not missed because I lurk therefore I'm not... uh...
SPIDER BITES? Okay, all the brains who KNOW homeopathy is bogus, Adolf says, leave the room, I know all the arguments. [Waits while they file out.] Ledum. I won't swear by all homeopathics, but again and again we've seen gaping flesh holes, presumably brown recluse bites (!!!), close up and go away, on people AND animals, with Ledum. No guarantees. YMMV n all that. Okay, I'm done, tell the Doubters they can come back in now, but tell them we were just looking at kittens n boobehs.
See yez later aggregators....
Barack Obama is a sputtering kiesterfluke of a misanthropic ... dang, what was that last word? Starts with ffffffffffff-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-u-u-u-u-u-u... no, that wasn't it... was it?
If you lined up all the videos on YouTube end-to-end this sentence still wouldn't make sense.
That's all I've got, and you can see why I'm outta here. Left some bacon sandwiches on the buffet, though. Enjoy.
I'm down. My phone is dying. My net connection's shot. I'm down to reading text with the pictures off. No videos. What is this, 1995? Siiiiih. Like I could keep up with AoS under these conditions!
Missing the thrill of it all, the guns, the boobs, the ... nope, that's about it. Oh yeah, the insightful political... the humoro... oh, never mind.
Color me curmudgeonly.
Condolences? Sympathy? H3!! no! You need the drill-sargent routine!
Slacker! Bum! Get yourself well and get back to that keyboard immediately. Without you, we'll just have Johnson's Catalog and senseless abstract Vimeo cartoons. This isn't about you! This is about us! We need our dose of Chuck to get us through this increasingly insane year! So, buck up, soldier. Get over yourself! You have a duty to your country. Or something.
(Need I say: just kidding? Y'know we love you Chuck.) (And Alex, Paul, Patty, et al. Just kidding about your contributions!)
@Karl Uppiano: "Even if they retract it (which they haven't really), the damage is done."
Always. Like, for an astonishing number of people, the Florida shooting will always be about that poor precious little boy who just went out for candy.
ABC's retraction was as lame as it gets for having smeared an individual, the Tea Party, and being not just wrong but evilly wrong. The apologized "for disseminating that information before it was properly vetted.” What? They'd vet it and then release it? (See cartoon above!)
"...bias or sheer incompetence..."
There is an alternative explanation.
"When asked what may have motivated Ross to report a connection between the alleged shooting suspect and the tea party, based off nothing more than a matching name and location, sources at ABC News attributed it to Ross’s desire to create news, and dismissed any suspicion of partisanship." Politico
Now, denial of leftie bias aside, this makes sense. Not so much an idealogue as just a self-aggrandizing sociopath who would wear any political skin to advance himself, happy to ring the "violent Tea Partiers" bell, not from any real basis of belief, but just to be out there fast and loud.
The Mail has a good article on the victims, and the heroism.
Laugh out loud hilarious, especially the moment he's looking googley-faced at the little girl with the Legos. You've outdone yourself!
Oh, no, wait... my mistake. You didn't build that!
“Horrendous details from this Colorado cinema shooting. America has got to do something about its gun laws. Now is the time.” -Piers Morgan c/o Left of the Mark
Ah-yup, I agree. Imagine if half the folks in that theater were free to carry.
Chuck: "definition of nanosecond is the amount of time between a horrific event and someone in the LSM trying to pin it on the Tea Party" -- they'd blame it on the Tea Party before it happened, if they could.
Artist Jarlsberg: First heard this sound bite on Levin this evening. Bland voices spreading crap. Your toon is an excellent and sadly accurate take on this sick exploitation of this incident and how it reflects the general attitude of the LaughingStock Media.

For reasons too stupid to elaborate, I had to take a hit, like taking a pay cut, a demotion, and moving from a house to an apartment. Or something. Yesterday morning I moved from broadband cable down to 3G cell connection. Don’t know how long this will be my situation. Also took me most of two days and many swings with the 5lb rubber mallet to figure how to configure this to work. Again. I had this set up a couple of winters ago. Folks at AT&T, when informed of how I log on, said, “You’re not supposed to be able to do that.” Shhh.
You know that 26-second video up top? About seven minutes to download. Yowsers! So, no video up- or downloads for this little webworker for the foreseeable future, nor much else beyond reading text, and cutting even that to the bone.
Se la guerre.

I’m guessing my suggestion (below) [to post video links instead of embedded videos] would benefit the poor shlubs who don’t have high speed. I’ve got Turbo … not the fastest, but still waaayyy faster than my old standard digital and light speed compared with our original dial up. If it’s slow for me … ouch.
♦ A Mindful Webworker July 18, 2012 at 8:21 pm
I’m using Opera Turbo. It does help. Just not enough. Especially for someone with a heavy YouTube addic interest.
Other blogs have found as you did that the multiple videos slow down the page load. But think how bland the page would look without them! Obviously, instead of cutting down the videos, the solution is for Obama to give us all FREE BROADBAND from his bottomless largesse!
(Insert joke here about MO and largesse bottoms.)
♦ chrissythehyphenated July 18, 2012 at 11:31 pm
ROFL …. but seriously, I’m willing to settle for still graphics for eye candy and use hot links for youtube.

See if you can download to your phone opera mini. This really makes things go faster. Also, go the The wordpress main page and they have something to go mobile with wordpress. The opera is listed as an application on my phone but I do not have a smart phone or anything so it is not “an app” really. Good luck.

Thanks for the ideas, wishes, and concern. Good folks here!
I have Opera mini on my phone. It's great, much faster than the native browser. Alas, my old coal-burning cell has very little memory. I can only browse low-overhead pages, like Drudge. Seriously! The cell is far more useful as a dial-up modem than for browsing itself. I look at the ads for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and I cry. In a manly way.
Now that I've been forced back to hooking my tired old workhorse desktop up via Bluetooth through the cell to the net, my got-used-to-broadband 2012 self is hair-pullingly frustrated, but my beginning-hacker 1973 1978 self marvels that it works at all. This is my only current option.
Something like a year ago, the data cable port on the cell began getting flaky. I took it to a small cell repair shop. After they quit ROFLing at my antique, I said, the data port seems to have come loose from the motherboard. They confirmed this was the problem. I asked, so, can it be re-soldered? Ah, what a naive old-timer I am. No, they said, they don't solder those, they glue them. Ugh. Solder can be re-melted and things fixed. Glue leaves a big glob and if it fails you're SOL. Cheap? Or planned obsolescence? (The two are not necessarily mutually exclusive.) Well, that wasn't a problem. I got a $10 Bluetooth connector and that was better! No cable to fuss with, and it linked to the desktop when I walked in the room.
Now, as long anticipated, the power cable port is heading the same way. And of course wireless power is hardly an option! Besides that, the battery doesn't always charge, or something; the cell frequently bricks in the middle of a call. To get on here, picture me gingerly twiddling the cable until it says “charging,” then trying not to jiggle it while I work. I expect the power port to fail any time.
At least then I won't be frustrated at how slow my connection is!
Good night, Gracie. God bless y'all & keep up the good fight.
