... dog on a chain jumping the fence and hanging itself in my grandmother's neighbor's yard.

deed, that wasn't in Chicago, was it? The Mrs's family dog died that way when she was young.

I will fight the urge to say something relating to Obama's dietary haabits. Must. Fight. Urge.

Earliest memory. I already opened up and poured my soul out on another website. I feel so cleansed.

Now my earliest memory is starting to write this message. What was I saying?

Is it night already? Dang. I haven't read every dog-gone Obama joke on the web yet.

This was one of those where I first looked at it and shrugged, Big Tornado v X-Men, okay. Then I get to the bottom caption. OOOHH okay, yeah! Red as a Sentinel! That one *will* surely be a great story someday... under Time-Warner-Disney's DCMarvel videocomics imprint.

PS Not sure I can make out this password image. It's an elvish curse, I think.

"Apostrophic" is certainly going in my lexicon!

Heh. Most unexpectedly, back for a moment.

Hey, Webworker..... is the little sick girl you mentioned before your own girl?? How is she? How is teh kitteh?

Oh, no, no. Our kids are all grown. This girl is just someone my wife got to know through the doc's. Mrs got a cute pic of her eating the cupcakes brownies, big smile below her stocking cap (chemo no hair thing, y'know).

Cancer cat's a mess, but improving, amazingly. Behaving more normally again, which for her is to meow loudly and annoyingly and get white hair all over my pants legs. But it's always something. This morning, our poor old shepherd couldn't stand up on his own. We've seen this before, not a good sign. He's an old friend.

Again today, can't stay and play. Monday looms. So I'm dumping some links on you instead.

Unthinkable! GOP lies! All women are in lockstep with the Demoncrats! [Does Obi Wan Kanobi hand-wave] There are no strong, outspoken conservative women. Not on PoliNation. Nor Sister Toldja. Nor HillBuzz. Nor on that beer-swilling girl-ogling bastion of male domination Ace of Spades (HA! do not cross the Moronettes). Nor Granny Jan. Nor Sarah Palin. The mighty Zilla. (I'm sure I failed to mention a few I know about, must be so many I don't.)

Also... Not among the neighboring rancher families. The women at the doctor's office. At the gas pump. ... My cousin's home-schooling wife and all their friends. ...

And none of these women ever worked a day in their lives, either!

Some remarkable stories, folks. Whew!

Yeah, Harvey, seems t'me, kids not only can be shaped by very early interactions, but are, by practically all early experiences, because everything's new and impressed upon the blank slate; earlier memories loom larger in the homunculus of memory.

I have some -- too few -- very-early memories in muddled chronology. This one I think of as the earliest: standing in the driveway of the house where I spent my childhood, looking up at our house. Probably a toddler, that's how it feels in memory. I had not so much of a thought as a feeling, a deep impression, that "this is my home." Not just the house, but the whole relationship of place and family. Sad to relate, I lost that life at 13; divorce, broken family, change of town.

It's still a nice house.

Who do I have to blow to change the Republican color from Red to Purple. Red is the color of warning and alarm. Purple is a centrist color that combines Blue and Red.
Posted by: Steve O

Used to be the other 'way 'round. Somebody sometime changed it, and it's wrong. But not purple, please; leave that to the SEIU and the mauve-lovers. The Red Flag has a hammer and sickle. Blue stands for the Republic.

My 100% guaranteed, no-holds-barred lock of the week or your money back:
Oklahoma goes for Romney, although Obama might actually win one or two counties this time. In 2008 every county went McCain.
Posted by: Grim

Romney: Absolutely. Any county: Wouldn't think so. In fact, Okla was the 1st state primary this year to have a Dem delegate *not* for Obama. Old-style Dems in deepest darkest Oklahoma. In California, they'd be called Republicans.

And if O is re-elected, Gov Fallin may be a very important figure in the subsequent civil wars. Metaphorical wars, I mean, of course. Of course.

Is this a general dog thread or does it have to be on-topic about large Danes?

Our dogs found us (as have nearly all our dogs and cats). They were both probably dumped on the country road, and both were nice as could be, but awfully hard to train (which may be consequent upon or causal to their being dumped!). Never raised one "of our own," from a pup; these are like abused adopted children, needing constant reassurance.

So, as the storms rolled in night before last, I think it's Large Cat trying to climb on the bed as usual, but when I reach down to throw him off, I feel two big dog paws. I managed to push the big galoot off the bed, got him to come around to my side where he could lay next to the (low) bed and I could reach out and pet him when it thundered. He had two paws up on the bed, and I let him stay there. He's a real rascal, don't want to let his nose get in the tent as the saying goes, but it was a loud storm.

Easy to imagine the poor guy had been shot at before he came to us. Weekends when the gunfire's going on all 'round us, he's miserable.

He's not as big as the Dane. But he certainly seemed large when he was trying to scramble onto the bed!

NN says: Is there a complete list of appeasers and patriots?

Malkin lists Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Intuit (maker of Quick and Quicken Books software) and Kraft Foods Arby’s, and Walgreens. I know LegalZoom dropped Rush.

It’s so hard for me to boycott folks. Almost always, I’d have to start patronizing them in order to quit.

Anyone got best alternative suggestions for alternatives to Legal Zoom and Intuit?

I guess it's time to go home. Mrs Webworker has finally finished making the gluten-free xylitol-sweetened birthday cupcakes for a little 10yo girl at our doctor's, who didn't have to get her lung removed after all. Fellow patients & staff chipped in and Mrs W volunteered her world-famous baking skills. I only got a sample taste, but I get to lick the icing bowl. Now to go home and see how the doc's medicine is working on the tumerous cat. Life's... funny. G'night all. Thx r reply, Tammy al Thor.

Oh no! As rarely as I comment, being neither funny nor interesting, but not told I'm an asshole on here (yet), this could take forever to get my members numbers up.
