Read the first and last 50 comments. Good enough to get the gist of the evening, right? Good ONT, WeirdDave who's gone to bed - close to Maetenloch in depth, breadth, and length.

Great Indoors - maybe they put all the good stuff into the promo, but I was amused. LOL'd at the bear eating the service animal.

Milady got to the ONT before I did tonight. She told me I have to quit complimenting her on her world-class culinary skills, because, sexist. I complimented her on her nice truck. (Seriously, though, world class.)

Last night I complained about my tablet and someone suggested it might be a dying battery. I think it's the charger, because when I swapped mine for Milady's, things seemed to be fine. I'd compliment her on her excellent work digging out the warranty and ordering a replacement charger for me, but that might be sexist.

That's my report, worth twice what you paid for it, minus taxes.

There was a young gal named Salome,
Who danced for her daddy at home.
Her daddy, quite pickled,
By her dance was tickled...

Me: ...read every moronic comment...

Style error. Should have capitalized "Moronic."

I caught up on the ONT, browsed the headlines thread, read every moronic comment about the Salome painting, and finally got caught up to the latest comment (barring whatever's being posted as I write this).

You know what this means, don't you? No time to participate in the wit and wisdom commentarishness, Ace is about to post something and I have to go do things myself.

Howdy, y'all, anyway.

And with those thread-murdering comments, I retire. Thanks for the memories.

BourbonChicken: That battery sounds like it needs to be replaced.

Aw, I don't want to hear that!

Speaking of not downloading videos and missing half the fun on the ONT...

You know, I wasn't going to mention it, but exhaustion and the rum have overwhelmed my good judgment...

Don't click my nic! Don't watch the video of me singing five of my songs. I'm out of practice, the piano's out of tune, my voice is not even what it was when I was younger, I can't carry a tune or keep a beat, my songs are dumb, the audio and video quality is mediocre-to-abysmal, and I don't want to hear from you about how I wasted your time. Since I posted it last week, I've had 3 hits, which I think were all me checking the upload. Totally non-viral!

Lucky there's almost no one here but the wisest of the wise who will heed my warning, so I likely won't sucker anyone in.

And don't look for my second show, coming up later this week (that was the big project I was working on today).

OTOH, daughter told me tonight she (FINALLY!) read all of my story, Invulnerable. (Unlike my music, I half-heartedly recommend this story). As far as she could recall, she had previously only read some of the first part. She remarked, it took a really strange turn in the part 2. Heh. That was the idea. She admitted it might've even got dusty in a few places. Couldn't ask for more than to move the reader!

Sorry, if you didn't mean to, and acknowledge meaning to in your comment, it doesn't count. You get a no-prize.

It's tired and I'm late. Howdy, folks.

Worked on a big project today on my little ASUS tablet. Final thing, I was backing up my work and noticed the battery said 1% "and charging." It was plugged in all day, which means... ?... it was using more energy than it charged? It didn't even have the tablet screen on - was linked to the big screen. Did I have too many of those fat 0's compared to the skinny 1's processed?

At least, it kept powered-up until the backups were done.

I don't understand power management on this thing. Seems like it runs off the battery, no matter what. But it can, as today, run down while charging. ? Why can't it charge the battery, but just run off the line power when it's plugged in? Not enough zots going down that little USB connector line to do both? What? What?

When I unplugged and moved to home base, I had to wait a while until it had recharged enough to boot up. Meanwhile, I looked at the thread via the cell. Being on a byte-limited AT&T line at home, I rarely click on the many no-doubt great vids to which folks on the ONT link (big sadz). But tonight, on the little cell screen with tinny speakers, I did watch Sue Foley New Used Car. That was okay, thanks.

Morning, Glories!

The sniper is under her chair. Clever fellow.

For a short while, the ONT was latest on the front page, even though a new thread was up. Was that just me or did anyone else get that? (Darn Kaboom cereal box cardboard membership!)

Are there new threads? This is the latest showing up on the main page for me. Did I forget to renew my platinum membership card?

You can tell the old schoolers who were taught in typing class to double-space after a sentence.

Several thousand typed pages later, I had to un-learn that.

Strict HTML rules say that browsers are supposed to collapse all "white space" - tabs, spaces, and line feeds - into one space (or linefeed, whichever). So you shouldn't even see double-spaces or multiple linefeeds.

But, because browsers are built to accommodate poorly-written HTML, you will see double-spaces and multiple linefeeds, anyway.

But I was an early convert to "proper" HTML, and learned to single-space after sentences, and never looked back.

Pardon my Avatar implementation test comment.

As long as I’m taking up another slot, let me expand on my previous comment: I’ve done a few photo manipulations myself, so I have some idea what work goes into making them look good. And I see a lot of attempts at such gags by other folks which just don’t quite hit the target as far as editorial commentary and humor (however dark). The posters you do are excellent both in quality of work and in on-target humor and snark.

Five zillion hits? Well-deserved and earned attention! I can't say I read every word of every article, but almost. Excellent analysis, served up with wisdom and humor. And when I can't read the article, I can always enjoy the excellent photo manipulations.

cthulhu #642: ...Our city did a "citywide garage sale" today, and one of the 220+ sales was a place with a totally mellow husky dog that was extremely distracting. He was just so adorably fluffy....

You quote back my whole comment, just to riff off the word "fluffy"?

I'm... honored to just be not ignored.

French Jeton #525: ...Rarely post. Come here to read. You folks are far to intelligent, informed, and entertaining for the likes of me to be breaking your rhythm.

Aw, go ahead and break their rhythm. I do it alla time, adding essentially nothing to the conversation. Like, for example, this very comment.

Chi #534: Worst that can happen is you get ignored. You may surprised, though...

I can testify especially to the getting ignored part! Although, it's not necessarily the worst. Make a typo, leave an unclosed tag, or (shudder) be careless about your phrasing, inadvertently saying something suggestive, and you'll feel like you've been thrown to the lions.

Gentle, fluffy, happy lions. But lions.
