Greetins', cretins!

Dog woke me up at 6am. Don't know why. Milady had already been up and opened the door for him & the cats, and feeding time isn't 'til 8. He just wanted me to get up, I guess. All times Central Standard, by the clock on the mantle.

There is not a single coffee bean in the house. I may have to get in the truck and drive into town. Wal-Mart in the aye-emm, how bad can it be?

The alternator died today on the van. I suspect it was jealous because we just replaced the starter. What will #3 be, I wonders.

I thought I got a bit of a contact drunk just reading that one.

(To be excruciatingly clear for the medium, "that one" meaning not yours, cthu, but the one you replied to.)

qdpsteve #428: ...how 'bout those cassette tape drives back in the day? :-P

I remember my amazement, the first time I actually saved and retrieved a program to that ordinary analogue audio cassette! (I had seen punch cards and used punched-hole paper tape storage at college, so cassette seemed so... accessible, or something.)

Hard lessons in early program and data storage: the longer-length cassettes could hold more data, buuuut have thinner tape, easier to stretch and lose everything.

Evening, y'all. Thanks, CDR M.

The "Da Fuq" image not showing up for me. (Weasel Zippers does not allow hot-linking to this jpg.)

The "8 states that fit into NYC boroughs" had me scratching my head a moment (Montana??), until I looked at the key and realized it's about folks not acres.

Meanwhile, back at the webworkshop...

I made a new video, 18 minutes, and had a three-day struggle with YouToob to get it uploaded. I thought I long ago had been verified for vids longer than fifteen minutes, but apparently not. Among other upload problems.

This, after a couple of days struggling with inadequate computerware to create the vid. (I've not had computerware commensurate with my needs since... I first bought a Radio Shack Model I in 1978! I learn a lot about workarounds, though, you betcha. Mama necessity.)

Altogether a time-consuming but, umm... educational experience. Educational. Yeah.

What's up among ye commentariat tonight?

Howdy, y'all.

Because it's such a distance shot, it's hard to tell: are their dour expressions because they're about to do it or because they just did?

And is that a cat in the window... or her dad?

So (last thread) I go start the coffee, feed the pets, make a bit of breakfast, come back, leisurely read headlines & follow some links and read all the comments, finally catch up to my own comment, and find out I'm in the barrel for Italican-izing. Wargh!

Automatic ejection from the barrel when the next thread comes up, for such minor infractions, though, right? (Shakes muck off shoes.)

Had to look at the page source code to see how I did that, because Pixy automatically closes an unclosed i-tag... UNLESS you have a 2nd open-italics where you meant to put a close-tag. And by you I mean me.

Creeper, #606, on the ONT: I recently made a decision to move south. Tennessee was high in the running until I realized what the Muslim population was. Oklahoma, here I come.

* dusts off the welcome mat, hides the heat wave *

Alas, we have our muzzies here in Okla., mostly down in OKC where the Big Mosk is. They've only instigated one beheading that I know of so far...

(Now, back up to read the headlines. Or go start the coffee... yeah, better do that first.)

Usually, my prayers are answered with the Magic 8-ball reply of "Answer unclear. Ask again later." At best. I always hope that, as I've read, when a prayer is apparently unanswered, the delay often betokens a better answer, although one which is for some good reason greatly delayed. I get used to expecting the "greatly delayed" answer.

Just this morning, chatting with Mr God, I asked - as I often do, but today with special emphasis - for blessings of health for His faithful servant chrissy. Then when I tune in to PoliNation, there you are with a positive report. Wow! Don't often get that kind of fast, sure reply! :D

Not that I think my feeble 2¢ worth of supplications really make much difference, but with this positive reinforcement, I will surely continue them... just in case.

So good to "hear" from you, hyphenated one!

Haven't read all the comments. Did discussion of hot dogs far exceed talking about the Star Wars ONT scroll?

Only Star Wars I ever saw in theaters was the first one. Thought the angling-away scroll at the beginning was really stupid. No matter how iconic it has become... I still think it's really stupid.

Milady made us cheese-filled hot dogs wrapped in bacon recently. First try the bacon wasn't cooked enough, but arteest that she is, the second attempt was perfect. In fact, I want one now!

Oh yeah: Howdy, y'all.

me, #85: ...Don't even know if it's another male, but I suspect not, else there'd be more quarreling. We'll see how the relationship goes...

shibumi #95: Might be babies in your future...

Not likely. We made sure Mr. Mrrrrlin was snipped when he first came to us.

A late-in-the-day follow-up: Just a couple of minutes ago, I thought I heard caterwauling outside, so I went to check. Skinny black wild cat ran out from under our car, and away, then Merlin slunk out from under the car and came inside. I think maybe they're not as friendly as I'd hoped.

Of course, fighting is how cats play, sometimes.

Greetings, pet-owned Morons!

Latest fun pet report is about Merlin, the in-town cat.

Unlike the kitteh quartet at home, Merlin's only animal companion is Defender Doggie, when we bring Dog into town each day. Otherwise, he's by himself, as far as four-footers go.

See why he's the lonely in-town kitteh in Merlin's tale, April 9 Pet Thread:
http://acecomments.mu.nu/?blog=86&post=362563#c25113358

Merlin does get out now and then, but he rarely gets out of sight of the office front door. Lolls on the pavement, chews some grass.

There's a vet's a couple doors down, and we think partly because of them, there are occasional wild cats roaming around. Lately we've been seeing a black one, which looks pretty much just like Merlin except for Merlin's white socks.

Merlin has seen the stray, too, and we've seen Merlin race from one window to another to watch it go by.

Well, the other evening, Merlin got out and we didn't see him for a while. Then in the dim light, Milady saw a black glob she thought might be Merlin. Turns out it was Merlin and the stray black cat, hanging out close to one another. Stray ran off as Milady approached.

Daughter caught Merlin & stray hanging out together again last night. It's nice that Merlin has a kitteh buddy, but kinda sad it's not domesticated. Not that we need another cat at the office, but at least they get along.

Don't even know if it's another male, but I suspect not, else there'd be more quarreling. We'll see how the relationship goes.

That's my story for the day. Now to go check the post pix & comments.

Seamus Muldoon #99: That wasn't an extra beat. In flat-picking terms that was an upstroke before the start of the measure. A lead-in syllable, perfectly allowable.

So it was a lyric, not a strict limerick? Um.. okay.

And, yeah, I've written a lot of lyrics employing that same excuse. Didn't know it was calledan "upstroke." I thought that was what Hillary had.
