Don't know if this has been mentioned - brought to my attention by Milady:

All righty, then...
Rock-breaking was always hard work.
And the market for rubble was never good.
Took a certain temperament to be out there breaking rocks in the hot sun all day every day for nothing.
Surviving Summer (Barely)
Highs in the nineties,
Lows above seventy,
For days and days yet to come.
Just enough trace of
some rain in the forecast
To raise the humidity some.
Wish I could afford
to replace the a/c
that decided to go on the blink!
So: no pants, a wet shirt;
Sit in front of the fan,
While nursing an icy cold drink.

Evening, folks.
Blogging Hat: News of the Week... Glad you find it useful
Well, I didn't say that, exactly.
FYI, I do try to link to it every week from the blog heap o'links.

Must be time for me to fold and fade, fellow late-nighters. I can tell it is, by the blurriness of the characters on the screen and tehwya twordshe arestrtng blurggmrrg wharblaggle.
Good night, Gracies.
Wandered off to check my newsfeeds and blog some items (link in nic). Better late than never, just blogged Political Hat's weekly round-up. Makes you realize how fast the news cycle goes, and how much goes down in just a week.
Also just had to pull a tick out of Milady's noggin. We hates ticks, we hates ticks forever we does!
when was the last time anyone saw aussie?
Aussie came back after long absence, swearing to post something daily. Then there was one night where there was a party at Aussie's - several comments about not being able to go to bed because the party kept going.
Never saw a comment from Aussie after that.
Partied on, dude?
___!___
I scanned comments up to about #250. Between there and about #600 was there aught worth going back for, y'think? Or is all the best yet ahead?

The one under Santa, semi-porn 'stache guy, tan shirt with rainbow shoulder patches and Flying Nun collar?
I did not have that shirt. Ever. Honest.

Evening, folks!
My shoulder (mousing arm) has hurt all day.
So... I know I'm alive!!

I had to look up PRK. I thought Ace had ended up in North Korea somehow.
Well... Hello.
Family reunion weekend, day 3 of 4. Hardly had time to read Ace posts, nor the news. Anything notable happen? (Sorry, dark joking--some news is unavoidable.) Missed my two favorite regular threads, pets and books.
Driving home from the lake this afternoon, just as we got on the Interstate, we were caught in a cloudburst worthy of the name. All traffic which hadn't pulled over was slowed to a crawl, and we all had our flashers on. I was tempted to pull over, and if had just become a hair harder downpour, I would've.
After a few minutes, we drove out of it, though. It was like that scene in Back to the Future where they're controlling the weather - you know, in the far, fantastic future of 2016 - and the rain just stops suddenly altogether.
Been a long time since I've been driving in that bad a storm. Glad it was *only* rain, not windstorm or twisters.

Whoa! Scary, but happy news. Seconding ghost of hallelujah's advice: be grateful you're alive.
I managed not to fall asleep at the wheel today. There's always so much to be grateful for. Even when it doesn't seem so.
The good news is... the hotel has secure wi-fi.
The bad news is ... any 6-year-old could guess the password.
The good news is... I can get my usual AT&T coverage.
The bad news is... I'm probably too exhausted / inebriated / or something to participate tonight anyway.
Fambly reonions - all the best & worst of fambly all at once.
At a family reunion, with many cousin dogs challenging our dutiful defender. Love to the pet threaders.
Oh, ugh. Had a moment there where I thought hatchets had been buried, only to see the wounding continues.
There's a smell, and it's not that skunk. So, I'll just find some pithy closer and head off to bed. Pithy, I said, and without a lithp.
Good night, Grathies.

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
Home is good. Even when it's a disaster, it's still home.

It's Family Reunion Weekend.
The big party is Saturday, spilling over into Sunday, over at my cousin's place on the lake.
Some of the clan, mostly Mom's brother's family from Alaska, are already down at my Mom's, where we plan to be tomorrow. So we can get good and sick of everybody before the party even starts.
Just kidding. I like that side of the family. Most of 'em. Solid, hard working folk - they could almost be Oklahomans!
Mom's been busy fixing up the place for the influx of guests. Naturally, she ended up with One Ginormous Project.
Seems that she discovered ruined, moldy floors in the bar, behind her kitchen desk, and under the kitchen cabinets, all one big common-wall area.
It was presumed a leaking water line to the ice machine was the cause of the problem...
Spent weeks getting everything pulled out and running fans to dry everything out. Finally, barely in time for her guests, she got people in to replace what wood needed replacing, re-tiling the bar floor, and so on.
Last thing was re-installing the ice maker. Took several "experts." One said before they could re-install the machine, it needed a gasket. (?) Another said it didn't need a gasket. (!)
Finally, a real plumber said, you know, the condensation from this thing just drains out onto the floor.... (!!!!)
Contacted the guy who'd put the machine in years before, and he said, oh, yeah, that's right. I thought you wanted it that way!
So, the damage had been going on practically since the thing was installed.
My sister the lawyer has been toting up the damages and considering action.

Most amazing thing was how neat Mom managed to keep the house while all this was going on. I didn't get that chromosome.
It's Overnight Time! Oh joy! Oh rapture! Oh what th'...? Lost internet for a minute there or I would've surely been first. (Haha. Not really - I mean, I did lose net, but oh nevermind.)
Got up at 4:30 this morning, the way I used to. Day was breaking, beautiful time of day. Thought about staying up, but decided I'd be wiped out later if I did.
SO, in the interest of trying to re-align myself with the mornings, I'm going to go to bed... not actually early... but at least with earnest intent.
And what Earnest is doing in that tent, I don't want to know. Shooting an elephant in his pajamas, I think...
Good night, Gracies.

Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Yeah, but sounds like a part of you that you can do without.

More proof, as if any were needed, that forks and spoons are absolutely not interchangeable.
Which reminds me... kbdabear... were all those gals on the same plane? (The mind boggles.)
Oh, yeah... hello again. Home safe n sound.
