Had a nice enough day, though. Milady and I and Defender Doggie* went down to visit my mom. (*She calls him her GrandDog.)
We had a nice dinner, nice wine, talked about the world today, and yesterday - politics, film, music, and crazy relatives. That was good.
Mom uses a walker, most of the time, to be on the safe side, but gets around pretty briskly. Was working a Sodoku when we got there. Helped her finish a word puzzle - not like she needed any help. (Crossword was already done.) She has a little arthritis in her thumb sometimes, she says. Told her, face it, you're gonna start getting old one of these decades. She's doing all right for turning 96 later this month.
Man, I hope I got that survival chromosome.
I will never forget.
Dad put on the radio for the big fight.
Went into the kitchen to fix himself a drink.
By the time he got back, it was already over.
Dad was not happy.
RIP, Cassius Clay.
Good evening, sports fans.
Re: Re-writing Reality...
If you could be Lord over the nation, you'd think of lots of ways to change everything, because you're smarter than anybody.
If you were Prince over the planet, you'd certainly run the place differently - what a mess it was until you exerted your wisdom! (And thus did the Prince of this world put the foundations out of kilter practically from the beginning of humanity.)
If you had dominion over hundreds of worlds, and your ego got the better of you, you'd know you can do better than the alleged First Source, and would re-make things with your liberal ideas. (And thus did the Father of Lies pervert his domain, dragging a third of the angels down with him.)
If you were the true God of all Creation, you'd set things up just as they are, because in the Ultimate perspective, it's for the best, even if only the Creators can fully understand it that way while time unfolds.
Funny about that.

Tomorrow threatens to be a long day. Got to go - should've been gone already.
Good night, Gracies.
Margarita DeVille #264: Who the hell are these people?
One of my many, many newsfeeds is Google "Entertainment." I see lot of those "who dat?" headlines.
As time goes on, I recognize fewer celebrities and pop stars. Which is fine. As my brain cells decrease, I don't need to have any dedicated to the latest person famous for being famous this week.
Milady and I did watch a nice Fred and Ginger movie the other night. Top Hat. Fun music by Irving Berlin, co-starring the delightful Edward Everett Horton. Indulgent sets and massive choreography. Now, that's worth dedicating some brain cells. And it's one movie I'll bet they'll never re-make.
Am I rambling? About time to retire these brain cells for the night....
Palpatine #256: Ahhh..there's nothing like watching the folks protesting Trump to confirm me in my decision to vote for the man.
Yeah, if they weren't doing it voluntarily, Trump would hire them. I keep thinking of how a previous generation of protesters gave us eight years of... Nixon.

That's Hyvää Yöta.

Good night, Zettai
cthulhu #247: Oddly enough, I can listen to Shrillary speak, mumble, cry, or bark like a dog -- and merely think "indictment".....but the pompous POTUS is like nails on a chalkboard.
I agree that there's no comparison. But, especially lately, I'm just as quick on the Off button when herself comes on, as well. Just the thought of eight years of her as Queen...!!
Just Another Ginger #3 left-side pic: That's just how she looked at me before she ripped my heart out.
cthulhu #230: Whenever his voice comes over a device, the device is muted or turned-off or I remove myself from its vicinity. Been that way for over eight years now....
The radio in the car has a push-on push-off power button. The radio now is loose in the dash - has a busted anchor of some sort - on that side, thanks to push-off becoming smash-off when TFG's voice comes on. Or Shrillary.
Driving home, two-lane, coming up the hill, glare of oncoming car's headlights, there was something I didn't see on the road. But I heard it as we ran over it. From the sound and vibe, I'd judge something on the size of an adult raccoon, opossum, or armadillo, common in that area.
Didn't go back to look, but, when we got home, from the smell, I'd say whatever it was not only was already dead but had been marinating in the sun for a while this afternoon.
Yuck.
cthulhu #130: He probably figured it was kinky sex play. See if he starts following you around all the time....
I... um..
Y'know what? Never mind. I gotta commute. BBL.
Joe Hallenbeck #27: All cats are girls. They just are.
Yes, it's true, cats are from Venus and dogs are from Mars, regardless of the genitalia.
Except our cat Sparky, who identifies as a dog. I was doing some emergency vacuuming today, and Spark just laid on his footstool watching me, unaffected, while every other critter (including the dog) ran outside. So, I took the hose and ran it over his fur. He liked it!
Josephistan #11: [i[Switzerland opened the world's largest tunnel & celebrated with some serious WTF?

WTF indeed!
How you know you've been underground too long?
So, the the Curse of Colonel Sanders is the Japanese version of the Cubbies' Goat? (Surely even this early in comments I'm not the first to note this.)
Back to reading the post.
Good evening. I actually got here in under 100 tonight?
Of course, I didn't read the post yet. ... !
rhomboid: ...this very recent and incredibly important and instructive history may as well have never happened, given the ignorance, mindset, and apparent instincts of a stunning % of Americans.
I appreciate your thinking here, I really do. But you know, it only takes a handful of stout-hearted, hard-working believers to completely overthrow the world.
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Good night, Gracies.
Cato #420, fall of the Wall
Wall went up when I was 9. I knew it was a prison wall. A lesson about Communism learned for life.
The wall came down when our daughter was 9. She knew it had been a prison wall. She'd tell you, same lesson, just as deeply learned.
