The Steady Spattering of a Mild Rain On the Oak Tree

The steady spattering of a mild rain on the oak tree is mesmerizing white noise. Interrupted by rumbly thunder. (As differentiated from crackling thunder, that especially sends doggy over to my side for reassuring pets.)

We needed more rain. The mosquitoes weren't thick enough already.

Last year, if we hadn't had the well, the cattle would have been in a bad way. Now, the ponds are full. Some of the lakes are closed to recreation, they're so full. The rivers are rushing.

It's just remotely possible the drought is relieved.
